I am the first to admit that they are not the cheapest shoes to be found on the high street, but have to say in this case i am a firm believer in the old adage (or as my nan used to say) you pay for what you get! The Braintree Clarks staff will always take their time( in my experience) to measure your childs feet and get the very best fitting shoes for them. I have walked out with nothing before when the staff have not been 100 % happy with the fit or style for my child. I have never had a problem with a pair of Clarks shoes for my children and have always been in the position where the shoes have been outgrown, rather than outworn. For that reason i would rate this the top shop for children's shoes and would urge other parents to shop here first!

Although small, a wide range of shoes and accessories (handbags, etc) for men and women can be bought here from all good makes, at very reasonable prices. Technically, it is the closest outlet shop to me (1 hr by train away) however, it is so far away from the greater London area, I had to buy another ticket to get to it. My boyfriend kept asking me if the bargains justify the train fare. In the end I only bought one dress, thus I felt it was not worth it. I'm sure visiting Braintree in the summer would be a better idea than trekking out there in search of discounts right after Christmas. Compared to London Designer Outlet (Wembly), which has newer and cleaner facilities, Braintree Freeport is more spread out and less bargains. I may give it a second chance in the summer when the weather is nicer. Not braving this outdoor outlet in the winter times.

I find it so hard to negotiate myself around the carousels and stands of clothes, particularly at busy times, as the layout of the store is so poor. This is a shame as the floor space is very large! Staf are friendly enough, but take a long time to serve customers (whether peak times or not).
