I hate writing mediocre reviews (especially when everyone else rates 4-5 stars), but I also feel it's in my heart to be honest with my experience. First, I'd like to say that Shirley is a great person, very kind and personable. When I first got a reading from her (back in Spring 2013), I was going through a confusing time, especially in regards to my love life (which is what most people call a psychic for anyway, aside from work or connecting with the other side). For 30 minutes, we touched base on a lot of things. She could see that I was frustrated and that I had other issues (which she was on point with). She also saw someone coming into my life coming in the beginning of Fall 2013. I'd like to note that throughout 2013 I was completely single (I had just ended an on-off relationship with someone in the beginning of that year) and was trying to make myself available in many aspects (online dating, telling my friends to fix me up, etc)....I guess I just wanted reassurance that I was doing everything okay and that whether I was meant to be married (I made a lot of mistakes in my younger years with my choice of men and I was set to not cling with past loves and make better choices with guys). We also touched base on my professional life (which wasn't my focus on calling, but not that huge of a deal, I was curious anyway). One of the best things about the reading was how she was able to pick up on the people that were in my life. She picked up on my grandpa who passed on and my parents' personalities (she could tell that I did not like my mother and how overbearing she could be...which is probably the reason why I have so many issues with my love life), the fact that I had sisters and the number of them, and my friend's energy whom I last spoke with before I called Shirley (she even named her! And my friend's name isn't that common, like Katie or Jennifer). That totally blew me away, especially since I didn't even refer to my friend at all during the reading. Time passed on. I wasn't clinging to the past and still kept my dating options open...but nothing manifested. I didn't meet the guys Shirley said I would, nor did the work stuff come true. Maybe it hasn't happened yet? I know psychics are pretty bad with timing (and I don't mean that in a derogatory way...I've had plenty of good readings where the timing was off...but usually the timing wasn't off by that much). However, I have to admit, I became disheartened and let go of the expectation of the predictions coming true. Maybe my disenchantment is "stopping" the energy from manifesting in my life...? One could argue that. However, by the time Fall was coming to an end (again, I was supposed to meet the guy by that time), I resolutely decided that I am better off single, and interestingly, I became WAY happier with my life...I became less desperate and the anxiety/stress that came over me when I had to go on first dates basically went away. I was also happy that the work predictions did not come true (she said I would do a career change in a field that makes really bad money, stating I "wasn't meant to be" in the field I'm currently in). I have a lot of friends in the work field she said I "should" be in, and I know my Type A personality would never be able to handle what they do. I guess in the end...take everything with a grain of salt. I don't take psychics as seriously as I used to (I didn't even get my prediction of the year like I usually do). I truly believe that Shirley has a gift and while I wasn't completely unhappy with my reading, I couldn't help but feel mildly disappointed that I didn't meet the man of my dreams (if he actually exists). Ah well, my life is far less hectic these days now that I'm not setting myself up on crap dates like I used to. Let me tell you a story. Three years ago I had just lost my job and I was lost. I needed to have a little clarity and direction, and I found Shirley on Yelp. I wanted to hear positive vibes. FYI- I altered my name slightly from the reading for confidentiality purposes, but she should recognize the second part of my name. I wanted to be nice and calm but I have to do this for ethical reasons and to be at peace. Shirley, during our reading together you said that I have intuition about people and to use it- well my intuition and gut feeling about you is, you're a cold-reader. I wanted to say, I've had stellar readings before. This is by far the worst reading experience I've encountered. I wanted to say this first for those reading this review- wait a beat before you respond to a "psychic". I started off doing that and realized what was happening- she will take whatever response you say and respond with, "Okay, thought so". NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY. It could be a yes, many times it's a no, she'll say, "Okay, I felt that." Well why didn't you say the statement as you felt it, why did you have to phish it out of me with a vague question. I felt like I was on a game show of 21 questions, except over the 45 minutes, it must've been something like 30 questions about myself. I didn't know I was going to get interviewed during this. I know ALL about myself and my life- why don't you tell me what you see. I already know the answer to this- it's because you can't see much, if nothing at all. I began to wonder why people go to you. What do they really get out of this. I would recommend they go see a therapist- they would get more detailed responses about their psyche that way (and better, more targeted advice for them too). You kept repeating ad nauseum about going out in the world and don't be afraid. Don't live with fear (that's littered all over your Instagram too, and I feel it's something you repeat to any and all of your clients regardless of who they are). I wanted to say to that advice: it's uninformed, it means you don't really know or even had the slightest clue about who I am or what I'm about. I can think of children who could give better advice targeted to me than that advice right there. When I started to wait a beat before answering you, you asked questions in a way where you could never be wrong- a classic sign of cold-reading. Just as an e.g., you would ask a question like, "is your grandma alive or not alive?" Either way, whichever way I answered, you said, "thought so, yeah I felt it..." Well goddamn, if that's all it takes to collect $200 for 45 minutes, I would become a psychic. BTW- it's extremely dangerous to say a bunch of things and then take it back by saying, "oh, well it doesn't mean that it's true". Then why say it? For e.g., you had asked if my prior boyfriend's name was Damien and when I said, "no", you said, "well I imagined the devil that's why I said it." When I reacted like, "oohh, that's not the right description for him.." you backtracked and said, "well, just because I said that it doesn't mean anything". Why say it then? That could be extremely dangerous for people who don't know that much about the person, and you're just planting these false ideas or suspicions in their head. You also said he works in something creative. When I said he didn't (it's IT), you said, "All fields have something creative about them". Then by your definition, everybody should answer yes. Not a great question to ask for validation purposes. I also take issue with the fact that you used my grandfather (who is easily googleable and attached to my name left on my email and credit card- which I was aware of during the reading and thus wasn't impressed w/ any googleable things you brought up (pretty much that his name started with my last name initial, which, duh)). Grandpa's don't always pass away having dementia, just wanted to let you know. The way you pretended to have dementia for a second was demeaning and insulting (he was extremely clear and intentional before he passed, something that we talk about when we bring him up). I had to pause and think whether to end the session right there because it was obvious that was a faked reaction. I hung on because I wanted to hear about him. There were so many things you could've brought up about him- so many detailed, specific and big signs we received from him over the years. You chose to go with the most obvious butterfly (maybe if you said moth I would've believed you). Then you said another obvious, but not true to our family whatsoever, sign- and I began to get disheartened. So many other things to pick up- and the sign you said has never happened... I began to think you pick the most rudimentary signs and just tell people that- based on probability, you'd probably get quite a lot of 'yeses' over your readings. But not that day, not that reading. The amount of 'No's' I had to say in that reading due to your being incorrect was astonishing. Not only the No's I said out loud, but the No's I said in my head but just said something like... "Yeeeeahhhh..." since I didn't want to seem confrontational, but really meant "No, not really"... read more

I met Shirley through a good friend. I've always been a bit skeptical about psychics in general but within 5 minutes of meeting with Shirley - I am a BELIEVER!
