Hotel Shibari opened about a year ago and we stopped in for our first visit from Los Angeles this week and had a wonderful experience! We visited in April 2024 for my birthday and were very impressed with the hotel. I only stay in 5 star hotels, all over the world, and this property definitely deserves the 5 star title and is certainly one of the very best hotels in Tulum. It has a perfect location in the hotel zone and is extremely walkable. There are restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, and more in both directions. You can walk out front and go left or right to find a myriad of options. It's also very close to the beach. Right next-door is Tulum security as well so it has an extra level of safety. The selling point of this hotel is the Cenote Tuuch which is right in the middle of the hotel and is just for guests. Honestly, one of the prettiest cenotes I've ever seen and swimming in it was probably the highlight of my whole trip. It is open from 11 AM to 6 PM although I wish it would be open from 10 to 5. The check-in process was extremely easy, they bring your bags to the room as expected, and you wear bracelet that allows you to enter and exit your room anytime you wish. The property is very lush and it feels like it is situated in the middle of the jungle. All the rooms are bungalow style so it's not one large building, rather it's many different buildings strewn about the property. Our room was very large and had all the modern amenities that we would expect. The air conditioner is strong and there's a large ceiling fan above to help deal with the tropical heat.
Breakfast is included in your stay and we also ate at Atta for dinner, which is their restaurant. It had a very large menu with a lot of great traditional Mexican dishes, and we truly had a wonderful meal. The whole staff was extremely polite during our stay and really went above and beyond to make us comfortable. They have a 24 hour concierge that you can message through WhatsApp, which is extremely convenient. I saw some reviews on Google mention that some people were annoyed at the music volume, but I think there is some confusion. Most of the loud music is coming from the club a few properties down that is not associated with the property. You can hear this later in the evening, but honestly, once you're in your room, you don't hear a single thing.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. It is a bit more expensive than a lot of other options around, but it is a 5 star so you will get much better service and amenities than you would at the other 3 or 4 star hotels. I plan to be back to Tulum again very soon as I am from Southern California and plan to stay at Shibari next time I am down in the area. Thank you for a wonderful stay! read more
