It was like stepping back in time to the Jim Crow era trying to get help or rung up in this particular AEO. Watching one of the clerks go all out to assist everyone except you- the only people of color in there- while passing you by and making eye contact, so you know she saw you asking for assistance, was demeaning. Denise and her team will go out of their way to help you. In fact, I thought I would save some money and get a refrigerator online and couldn't get any help when it arrived scratched and dented. I talked to Denise and she went over and beyond to help me, despite the fact that I had not ordered through her. I am beyond satisfied and will never order appliances online again. Support locally-owned small businesses because if all you need them for is repairs or for fixing your problems, they will not be here when you call. It was no more expensive to order through the local store and I get all their support. SHOP LOCAL!! I have NO IDEA how my town got changed to a California town....I will try to fix that. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of compassion and understanding shown by the employees of the Junction City Dollar Tree today, Sunday, March 7, 2021. My 87 year old mother asked me to take her to Dollar Tree so she could buy me a birthday gift. She doesn't drive and doesn't get out of the house often She has Parkinson's and takes medication for breathing....that makes her need to use the restroom quite unexpectedly at times. When we asked to use the bathroom at Dollar Tree...we were told it's NOT open to the public. Now, had there been another store with an available bathroom nearby....or if my mom could walk fast...this wouldn't have been a problem. But since an "accident" was imminent and my mom was very distressed....and there were no other bathrooms within walking distance...I BEGGED the staff to allow her to use their bathroom (which prior to COVID, was open to guests). I explained her age and health status to them. Staff members got the Manager, who firmly refused to allow my Mom to use their bathroom....even though we were wearing Masks and her distress and age were quite evident. Maybe I'm too compassionate because I'm a nurse. Maybe I'm not being objective because it's my mother who was distressed. I hope the staff at the Dollar Tree in Junction City get the opportunity to experience the distress of being sick, old and asking for help...and not receiving help. TODAY was the LAST time I will ever go into the Dollar Tree in Junction City, Kansas.
