You have to believe. For the last 20 or so years, every time hubs and I visit Woodstock, we always…read moremake it a point to come here, upgrade our Tibetan Prayer Flags, get gifts, purchase Nag Champa and say 'hi' to our friend and Modern's owner, Daphne. So you know, Daphne herself or Merin(?), are happy to assist you with any questions you have. Modern Mythology is located right in the town's square. It's full of Dragons, Fairies, stocks a variety of silver pendants, earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces- which include Amber, Amethyst, Opal and other crystals that literally jump at you when you first walk in. Let me not forget, Mythology also sells Incense, Singing bowls, candles, Sage, Books, Chakra Sets, Tarot Cards and so many other items of spiritual nature. Most recently, we picked up a sterling silver 20" chain and an Eye of Horus to replace the one my daughter has had from here since she was 16, an Opal piece- as her October birth stone and medium sized Prayer Flags for our backyard. This shop is worth visiting, especially if you're interested and believe in the power of healing crystals, incense to clean out negativity and beyond. Modern Mythology provides quality products and treasures (at a price), to promote harmony between your mind, body and spirit through these natural products.

This town isn't what I would normally consider a 'me' place, but there really are some cool shops and places to eat. After we stopped for lunch we decided to do some shopping. One of e coolest places we found was Modern Mythology. Of course it's got a hippy, new age feel as soon as you walk in the door, but that have some REALLY cool jewelry and religious items-all religions and a lot of fantasy-type figurines, statuettes, and artwork. Unfortunately, we didn't actually BUY anything, but next time I'm up here I'm definitely buying something from here and sneaking it home.

We visited this flea market while we were in the village and had a fun time. First thing to note,…read moremuch of it is under trees, so there is shade as you walk around. That was a major plus. I am no stranger to flea markets, but what I loved about this one was the friendliness of the vendors. All were welcoming and willing to strike up conversation, especially about music. A great deal of finds hide here, including vinyl, China, jewelry, gemstones, print media, art, antiques, clothing, vintage, handbags, etc. There is a little something for everyone. Overall, a very fun experience. Try it out!

Woodstock is a diverse and eclectic town but it's also famous for its Mower's Flea Market every Saturday and Sunday in a big grassy area. Hubs and I have always made it a point every time we come to Woodstock in the last 20 years, to stop here first (out of nostalgia) before making the drive down home. Quite honestly, we've scored several hand-made pieces and a vintage Dashiki hubs had found for me. Mower's is made up of several vendors all selling something different. Over the years though, the amount of vendors have dropped. And forget about COVID last year- because it didn't take place and was weird looking at vendor-less lot when we came to the area for a day trip in the Fall of '20. But alas, Mower's is back in business and we were delighted to see more vendors (almost) recently like we used to 20 years ago. You'll find antiques, memorabilia, some kitsch- the same way you'll find locally made products. The way I see it, it's a shopping haven for me. Just make sure you get here before they close for the season in November.
