Morrisons Petrol Station

I often stop here for petrol when I'm out and about!…read more Situated just around the corner from the main supermarket, they have 16 pumps meaning they can get through a serious number of cars in one go - although there's still loads of them parking up and queueing to get in (probably because they're the first main station to drop petrol below a £1 - although it should still be much lower given the huge price drop in oil) You can pay at the pump like I do and they have a kiosk selling papers, snacks and the like.

But indoors the mini supermarket is a useful spot for picking up those last minute forgotten items. For some reason though you can buy firewood! The chaps outside aka the rude boys are to be avoided and sadly most of them rent their vehicles from the car rental place down the road, which is obvious when you see how badly they drive.
Reasons why one would go to this shop/petrol station:…read more 1) To buy booze to take to a curry mile establishment with a BYOB policy 2) To show off a pumpin' automobile 3) To marvel at souped up cars 4) To take out cash Personally, I've only ever used it for reason 1, for which it was perfectly sufficient. As the others have mentioned, reasons 2 and 3 are strictly for bad boys and reason 4 costs you a couple of quid, so pop up the road to HSBC where you can access your hard-earned cash/student loan for free.

I had trialled Home Delivery with them once before and one smashed-vinegar-bottle-covering-my-shopping later put me off trying that again. Several months down the line and I thought I'd try the C&C service instead. After the usual online shopping, you choose a collection slot (typically two hour periods) and drive to the petrol station, parking in one of the spaces over to the left hand side. The set-up is pretty novel, there are several large chiller/freezer units outside the forecourt shop which contain customers' shopping in trays. You pop into the shop, confirm your name and one of the employees accompanies you to your unit (as this was my first visit, I was told that they usually give customers the unit's key and you're left to your own devices). I was surprised that there wasn't more of a check on whether you were the legitimate customer or not... The unit is opened and you remove the packing trays from the shelves to get at your shopping. For those with an 'eco' mindset, be prepared for a ridiculous number of carrier bags. There was one with a solitary box of Cook's Matches I'd ordered, another with three bananas. Not pleased about that at all. In fact it's probably that which will dissuade me from shopping this way again. That being said, the employee who showed me the ropes was thoroughly helpful (she was actually on her meal break but still came to assist me). Tip: If you can, choose a collection slot before it's dark as it's difficult to make sure that everything has been delivered and that you're happy with any substitutions they've made.
