On Sunday April 27 2025 on the…read more14 year anniversary of the generational tornado outbreak of April 27 2011 My sister and I stopped at the Legacy Chevron in Russellville after stopping by the Phil Campbell Memorial Park honoring the victims of the April 27 2011 tornado outbreak and grieving their loss and their families and friends and all of the precious 252 Alabamians who lost their lives in the devastating April 27 2011 tornado outbreak and on a personal level I highly recommend you stop at this gas station not just because they are open 24 hours but they have a monument/memorial for the victims of the April 27 2011 tornado outbreak and their names are listed on the memorial and the memorial is the shape of the tornado which is not a very easy thing to look at because of the loss of life in the outbreak but it is a beautiful monument/memorial and every time we go to Phil Campbell or come back from Phil Campbell or even Red Bay or anywhere in Franklin County that's the gas station we will stop at and I highly recommend it to everyone. They got biscuits, eggs, hash, gravy, sausage, chicken, steak, bacon... and all kinds of other stuff. When we are tired of other fast food joints or just lazy to cook, this is our next option. It is a great place to get refills on coffee if you buy their cup then reuse while traveling. They also have CB radios for truckers. But you can buy one for your pickup or even your car. They sell top quality CBs too and most of the time are on sale below costs, so you can get a really good deal on a CB. You can get 2 hot dogs on sale here at all times for around $2 to $3.

The gas pumps behind and on the other side of the store are for big trucks as most of these are diesel pumps. Their bath rooms are outside which is unusual but I like it. I have a feeling that this used to be a busy truck stop at one time. Well, they built a Loves Travel Stop just down the road. So, lots of 18 wheelers stop and rest there. But, I did see a few here. They have some great fried chicken and catfish here at a separate deli counter which is manned by a second person who is a cook. There tator logs are some of the best I have eaten anywhere. Just put some catsup on them for a delightful snack. Also their prices on chicken and logs is very reasonable. Their parking lot is so big that you can use this as rest stop.

At the time, the owner was a fellow by the name of Butch. At one point, I mentioned to him that we were passing through the Montgomery and inquired whether the area was safe enough to park overnight in the parking lot of the adjacent shopping center. Butch assured us it was and after saying our good-byes, we made our way to that parking lot where we found a nice level spot which, as it happened, was within sight of the gas station. It wasn't long after we'd settled in that Butch's son, Jim, came knocking at our door saying that his father was offering to let us park beside the station overnight and that we could plug into the station's electrical outlet if we liked. Of course, we took Butch up on his kind offer. Before he left for the day, Butch mentioned that he'd left the door to the station's washroom unlocked for us. The next morning, we invited Butch into our trailer for coffee and couldn't thank him enough for his kindness. I don't know if Butch or Jim are still operating that station but I thought it would be worth thanking them again for their kindness that day. We eat the pizza a lot, I like the thin crust the thick crust seems uncooked in the center of the pizza so make sure to tell them what kind of crust because I forgot and ended up paying for a thick crust because she didn't ask what I wanted. If you can handle hot wings those are good as well. They have burgers and fries and a little of everything I don't care for the burgers. My mom always gets a sandwich made out of chicken tenders that she seems to love! But I say you can't go wrong with the Philly cheesesteaks!
