At the time, the owner was a fellow by the name of Butch. At one point, I mentioned to him that we were passing through the Montgomery and inquired whether the area was safe enough to park overnight in the parking lot of the adjacent shopping center. Butch assured us it was and after saying our good-byes, we made our way to that parking lot where we found a nice level spot which, as it happened, was within sight of the gas station. It wasn't long after we'd settled in that Butch's son, Jim, came knocking at our door saying that his father was offering to let us park beside the station overnight and that we could plug into the station's electrical outlet if we liked. Of course, we took Butch up on his kind offer. Before he left for the day, Butch mentioned that he'd left the door to the station's washroom unlocked for us. The next morning, we invited Butch into our trailer for coffee and couldn't thank him enough for his kindness. I don't know if Butch or Jim are still operating that station but I thought it would be worth thanking them again for their kindness that day. It is one of the nicest memories that we have of that trip. Moe and Wanda Daoust
