I honestly cannot believe this school is allowed to operate the way it does. As a MOTHER who…read moreactually cares about her child, I am beyond disappointed with Laguna Middle School. From the moment you walk onto campus, you can just FEEL the lack of organization. It's like nobody is communicating with anybody, and parents are expected to just smile and accept it. Every time I have a question, I get passed around from one office to another. Nobody seems to know what's going on! Is customer service just not a thing anymore? I shouldn't have to send three emails and make two phone calls just to get a simple answer. Apparently expecting basic communication is asking too much these days. And don't even get me started on the homework. One teacher assigns almost nothing, while another acts like these children are preparing for medical school. My child deserves consistency, not confusion. Middle schoolers should not be stressed out every single night because nobody can agree on reasonable expectations. The drop-off and pick-up situation is an absolute circus. Every morning is complete chaos. Cars everywhere, people cutting each other off, and somehow this is considered "normal"? Where are the adults directing traffic? Why hasn't this been fixed? It has clearly been an issue for a long time. The administration constantly talks about "building community," but I have yet to see them actually listen to concerned parents. It feels like our opinions only matter when they're asking us to volunteer or donate money. Funny how that works. I also find it incredibly frustrating that every concern is met with the same generic response about "school policy." Policies should work for families, not the other way around. If multiple parents are bringing up the same issues, maybe--just maybe--the policy is the problem. And can someone explain why everything requires another permission slip, another online form, another app, another password, another reminder email? I swear I need a full-time assistant just to keep up with all the notifications. It's exhausting. The teachers may be trying their best, but the overall experience has been incredibly frustrating. As a taxpayer and a parent, I expect much better. Children deserve an environment that is organized, responsive, and focused on helping them succeed--not one where parents feel ignored and students are left confused. Needless to say, if I had known what this experience would be like, I would have seriously considered other options. I sincerely hope the administration starts listening to families instead of brushing off legitimate concerns. Until then, I cannot recommend this school to anyone.

Hello! I am a concerned single loving 46 year old mother (I'm tight btw) and I have some things I…read morewould like to say about this school. Where do I even begin. If you are considering sending your sweet baby angel to this middle school, I strongly encourage you to instead consider literally any other option. Homeschool. Wilderness survival camp. A monastery. Anything. First of all, the drop-off line? A lawless wasteland. I have seen more organization at a Black Friday sale in 2007. No cones. No guidance. Second, the cafeteria. My son Clayton Mae told me the pizza "bends in ways pizza should not bend." I don't know what that means, but I don't like it. The milk cartons are apparently either frozen solid or suspiciously warm. There is no in-between. Academically? My child came home with homework that required "critical thinking." I'm sorry, since when are thirteen-year-olds expected to have fully formed frontal lobes? Do better. I would also like to formally address the teacher situation. There are kind teachers. There are strict teachers. And then there are teachers at this school who act like my child personally offended them by existing. One in particular seems to believe that smiling is a federal crime. My son asked a clarifying question and was met with a sigh so dramatic I thought we were about to enter a Shakespeare monologue. These kids are thirteen. Not hostile corporate employees. Now let's talk about the principal. I naively assumed that if a student had a concern, there would be, I don't know, listening involved? Silly me. Instead, students are handed "reflection sheets." Reflection sheets. As if filling out a worksheet titled "What Could I Have Done Differently?" magically solves every issue. It's giving "copy and paste discipline system." Zero dialogue. Zero accountability. Just paper. And the science class? Apparently the curriculum is: 1. Walk in. 2. Receive packet. 3. Complete packet. 4. Receive another packet. At this point I'm fairly certain the packets are raising my child. I don't even think the teacher speaks unless it's to say, "It's in the packet." Then there's the wood shop teacher. I'm not saying anything legally actionable. I am simply saying the energy in that room feels less "educational mentor" and more "I learned life lessons exclusively the hard way." The vibe is intense. The motivational speeches sound like parole advice. Overall, the leadership shrugs, the packets multiply, and the mean streaks run unchecked. I did not pack fresh organic apple slices every morning for this level of dysfunction.
