Let me start off by saying I have been here before with a stylist named Madison she was wonderful. I visited on Tuesday march 12 with a cut and color planned with a different stylist Gabby, when I showed what I wanted she got super excited and said she manifested this. I wanted calico hair. Everyone that worked there throughout the process was super nice and excited hyping me up as well. However my hair when bleached turned a little red which was fine because I wanted red over it. She started to doubt the process I believe because I had to be the one to tell her to tone it and even if it didn't come out bright blonde it wouldn't be brassy, which is what I wanted no brass. We discussed I could eventually get them blonder if I wanted to but for that day it's the best they could do which I understand I've had my hair done plenty of time. Now I have already had been there for 5 hours, she starts to color and I ask her about the top half of my hair because at the beginning of the service she said she was gonna do it darker there. She never did anything to the top of my hair and finally at around 9:51 she started to blow dry it to be texturized like I asked for. She started to curl it which I never asked for so I asked her to stop and just cut it, she claimed she couldn't cut wet hair which again I have had my hair done many times a lot of which they cut my hair wet. At this point I had been there for 7 hours with nothing but a Chex mix bag to eat, and I was really unhappy with the way everything was going so I told her I'm done. I paid my bill literally crying and left. The lady at the front desk said she will leave a note and have the manager call me. I called this morning and apparently there was no note left...weird. I ending up getting connected and spoke to a share owner this morning and was offered a free service of glossing it back to brown... how does that help when I wanted calico hair and the salon had already bleached my under parts why would I go back to brown. There are many other weird details that had happened. Honestly overall the people here are nice but my hair looks terrible and i paid for a cut color and foil and none of it is how I asked for it to be. I will not be returning and I think other people should be able to get a honest opinion before deciding to go there. read more

The salon was nice but Ming was shown several pictures of the color I wanted and assured me she could do it but the color was not correct and when I asked for the color to be corrected she said she was going to charge me more money, not to mention the hair cut was all uneven. After paying almost $300 I then went to a different stylist who was able to cut and color my hair perfectly for half of the price. Walked into this salon without knowing a thing about it after I had to walk away from my former stylist. What a relief it turned out to be a fabulous place. The interior space is open without being crowded or cluttered, all of the equipment and stations look pristine and the person in the reception area who greeted me, made an appointment and recommended which stylist I should see, was extremely helpful and got me in the very next day. So far, so good, right? I arrived for my appointment the following day, filled out a brief questionnaire and was immediately introduced to my new stylist who really listened as I explained what was going on with my hair and what I wanted in terms of color and cut. She answered my questions and made suggestions. That really gave me confidence that I was going to be in good hands. I was there on a Friday and there seemed to be a steady stream of clients coming in to see various stylists, which was a good sign. There is a self-serve area where coffee, water and snacks are served which is a really nice touch. The reception area is filled with all sorts of products but I was not pushed to purchase any which I appreciate. But the real thrill came when the towel came off and my new color was revealed. Even damp, I could tell it was a winner. And the cut only added to my overall satisfaction. Until you find yourself in the hands of a not-so-good stylists you can't really appreciate good it feels to have a professional, talented stylist who takes pride in their work and takes their clients' needs and wants into consideration. read more

I was tired of my hair but I can't do a lot to it because of where I work. So, I called them to make an appointment and Marissa was able to see me the same day. I have long hair so I knew it was going to take a while to work on it. Pros: Marissa is professional and worked within the limits of how light I wanted my highlights. She understood what I needed and did exactly what I wanted! It didn't take long at all to get a few highlights, toner added, quick trim and blow dry. Cons: the price. I was expecting to pay near $70-90 for the entire process. She added maybe 8 highlights to help me get a feel of it so I can do my entire head of hair next time. Total came out to $112 and a $20 tip. This is what the receipt said: $18 added highlights $48 balayage And $46 give or take for hair cut totaling $112. Overall, I love my hair and even my boyfriend say it looks amazing. It's a wonder what a few highlights can do to the hair but if it cost that much to add a few highlights maybe I should've done the entire head to get my money's worth. If I knew adding toner would cost an extra $48 I would've asked to do the entire head. read more

Shear Art was recommended by a Redken stylist when I moved to South Tampa. I see Becka and she is terrific! Trendy cuts, beautiful color. Equally important, she has a wonderful demeanor which enables her to connect with clients of many age groups. Highly recommend her!! The salon has a minimalist look - modern - and clean. Pleasant popular music is piped throughout (nothing offensive). Because of the open concept you may occasionally hear conversations of other stylists - thankfully, they are friendly and positive. Katie just cut my hair and it was probably one of the best experiences from beginning to end. She understood exactly what I needed with not a whole lot of context for the situation, which, in my opinion, shows off a person's understanding, passion, and skill set in their profession. I love it. I don't venture out or trust many people with my hair, but Katie gained my trust from the moment she confidently took charge, gave me my relaxing slice of life, and a kick ass hairdo to go with it. Very pleased with my first experience here. I was skeptical of Redkin product at first, I;ve been using Lorel Iona and did not want a brassy result to my highlights. I am very pleased with the result I received from the product line. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is laid back not stuffy and efficient, and the hours are perfect for the working woman who needs a later evening appointment. Abigail did my highlights and she was very professional and knowledgeable. I liked they were very up front with pricing which is reasonable and they carry a good line of products. I love this place! I was referred to Becka by the Flirt Wax salon next door and I'm so glad I found her! I always seem to have bad luck with hair stylists but Becka is simply amazing! She has an awesome demeanor and really took the time to listen to me before she began to work her magic. I was chopping off a pretty good amount of hair and she talked me through it all to make sure I was comfortable with everything. Tiffany washed my hair (the scalp massage was heavenly, by the way) and she chatted with me during the cut. I love these 2 gals! I walked out feeling like a new woman. Was a long time customer in the original Shear Arts on Dale Mabry North. The original was large and spread out then they moved within the same plaza and felt crowed to me. Love the stylist they are always the best and wouldn't trust my color to any other place. I drifted away after I stopped coloring my hair, but never could get the consistency and professionalism I was looking for any where else. So I decided to try the South Solon and so glad I did. Tonya is my stylist and I love her experience, professionalism, and her vibe. My hair looks and feels great and I love the Solon. I'm closer to the north address but I like the south Solon better. It feels more intimate and more relaxing for me. Less chairs but more quite. The front is interactive and still a wide array of products and the color station is cool. It feels like south Tampa a little more funky but chilled. And bonus your just a couple of blocks off of some great restaurants to go show off your new doo! read more

I have been going to Shear Art in Carollwood for over ten years. Now that their South Tampa location is up and running I have been making even more visits. The new location has a minimalistic, trendy vibe. There is a separate, closed off room for those of us that are getting hair treatments or hair extensions done. I love the privacy and the exclusive treatment. I have been offered drinks and snacks while waiting for my color to set etc and I love that type of VIP treatment. Tina M has been doing my cuts, color and hair extensions for over these ten years and I would never trust anyone else to touch my hair. I have very fine, thin hair and have tried a few different methods of hair extensions and loved all of them . Tina always knows what to suggest to promote healthy growth of my hair and incredible looks. I get compliments everywhere I go and no one ever suspects I have pieces added in my hair - yay!
