Like most senior living residences, this one is under staffed in both administration and care units, but everyone seems ok waiting for things to get done when there are smiles and hugs and good humor. Rosecastle does not have a theater or a tavern or a swimming pool or ballroom. It has a lobby and activity room, and a nice dining area for assisted living patients or memory care if their families are there to take them. The food is not glamorous, but it is nutritious and plentiful, and is better than my Mom cooked when she was cooking for herself. So thanks, Rosecastle, for giving Mom a safe place to live with people around that really care for her, and where I am welcomed when I come and visit.

When I went to pick up her belongings, not one staff member asked me how she was doing. Instead, the business manager reminded me to make sure that I still send in her payment for the next month. When my friend first arrived here, we were assured that they had in house doctors who accepted her insurance and that they are all inclusive. That was not the case. Weeks went by before I was notified she was out of her meds. When they found metastasized nodules in her lungs and referred her to a pulmonologist, I was told they would schedule the appointment and everything would be taken care of. Two months went by without hearing anything, only to call and find out that they dont have any provider's who accept that insurance in that county and I would have to take her myself. That is completely fine, but how am I supposed to know these things if they don't communicate that? I've received calls from their own staff who are concerned about her not being taken care of properly. Life is hard enough dealing with Alzheimer's, for the caregivers and loved ones experiencing this debilitating disease. Please keep a close eye on your loved ones at this facility.

Her internal bleeding went undiagnosed for about eight hours despite the nurses repeatedly notifying the doctor of glaring signs. Once imaging was finally ordered and active internal bleeding was confirmed, surgery was delayed for roughly seven more hours. In the meantime, the doctor ordered mass blood transfusion in a way that worsened her condition instead of stabilizing her, while failing to move the central line that he improperly placed and that the radiologist recommended be repositioned. HCA Healthcare has faced no consequences, and there is no way for people researching physicians through the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the medical licensing board, to see what happened to my daughter.
