I'm afraid my dealings with Shaw Stone have been disastrous. Jo Shaw was charming on the phone but the fitters were rude, incompetent and ultimately very dishonest about what happened on site. We have had them back several times and are left with poor quality granite that isn't fitted properly. They neglected to advise us that they would have to put a join in our main run of granite, above our dishwasher (a real 'no no', I have since learnt) it's more of a step between the mismatched pieces of granite they used. Two fitters have tried to disguise this 'join' to no avail and Mr Shaw refused to do anything more. The tap holes weren't measured correctly, resulting in a couple of retuen visits and complete replacement, when they mounted the undermounted sink back to front for the second time. A piece of marble supplied by them had such a horrible flaw in an obvious place that it looked like a tyre mark, they eventually replaced this after maybe a dozen phonecalls and a very stiff letter. Another vanity top sloped so much that water poured off onto the carpet whenever the basin was used. The fitter also gouged a hole in our chimney breast and botched it with clear silicon. Another vanity unit was destroyed internally and crudely patched up with blocks of wood and 3"nails.
We are desperately unsatisfied with the materials and the craftsmanship, but most of all the lack of willingness to come and put it right. Mr Robert Shaw has refused to come and see his company's work for himself, despite our repeated invitations. After an enormous renovation project of our 3-storey house, using Shaw Stone for the granite/marble is my one and only regret. And it is a regret I am sadly reminded of every day in my house. They don't deserve the one star I had to give them in this review but I was given no lesser option. read more
