INDEED, they immediately took care of 2 of 3 of my Problems, which I had hoped for. ER DOC Buckley and Hospital Doc Doctor DAN ZHENG took very, very good care of me. When I was admitted to the hospital, Nurses SAM and YAEL, and Alyssa also were there and supportive. FOOD SERVICES provided great food from the start, Ravioli with Cheese. Breakfast was Eggs, Pancakes and Bacon. My NURSE, gave me a Diet COKE!!! I also have to say something about the OBSERVATION ROOM, very nice and roomy, AND DECORATIVE. PT Kelsey came to see me in my room and ordered a smaller, collapsible walker for my apartment. In the NEW ROOM on the NEXT DAY, they performed lots of different tests. FURTHERMORE, I was able to do some walking around the 5th Floor, with the help of Nurse Assistant ASHEWA. I would say that Nurse BRIAnA, could use some tips on bedside manners, THOUGH!!! On my Second or Third Night, NURSES Anna and Wilma were both back to help me, THANK GOODNESS!!! I especially want to thank Wilma, for her help with my Shower. UNFORTUNATELY, Nurse 'BRI' Brianna showed up the next day as well. I felt that did everything she could ( or actively worked against the needs of the patient/ME), to make my stay AS UNPLEASANT AND AS UNCOMFORTABLE, as possible. It just may be her NURSING NATURE, which is sad for her, and SHARP!!! I had a fantastic experience with my MRI, once getting there. I want to give a shout out to the whole team of GABRIEL, SEAN, and DOMINIQUE!!! I have a bad back and doing these things can be painful, but they provided a Triangular Wedge for my legs. In addition, they provided a pillow for my neck. I'm now 1 THING/treatment away from going HOME, but of course I'm in the hands of Nurse Bri. I can't say CHARGE NURSE HEATHER, has been a stand up Charge Nurse. On my last night, it was a whole new world with a whole new staff', including RN CONNOR, NAWIT AND CHARGE RN SHANNON. From how he treated my bloody nose or how he dispensed medication. THEN, during my shower, CONNOR changed the sheets on my bed for the first time. MY PINK HAIRED NURSE Rhiannon saw to it that my discharge went as flawless as possible, coordinating with my doctor and transportation!!! Thanks to ALMOST EVERYONE ON 6 NORTH!!!

While we understand that emergency situations can be unpredictable, it took them nearly nine hours for him to be assigned a room on the 5th floor. This wait was quite concerning, especially given the urgency of his condition. Once he was finally settled in, we encountered a significant issue with the registered nurse in charge, Brittnay (employee number 6836). Unfortunately, her attitude left much to be desired. She seemed to believe that she was above everyone else, and any questions we asked were met with a dismissive response, as if she were doing us a favor by engaging. This lack of empathy and professionalism was disheartening and truly overshadowed our experience at the hospital. On a more positive note, I want to commend another nurse, Sara (employee number 5107), who was a bright spot during our stay. She exemplified what nursing should be--compassionate, attentive, and genuinely caring. I would rate her a perfect ten out of ten. Her demeanor and professionalism made a significant difference in a stressful situation, and she deserves recognition for her outstanding care. In conclusion, while I appreciate the services provided by Sharp Memorial Hospital, I believe there is a need for improvement in staff training, particularly in fostering a more empathetic approach to patient care. I hope my feedback is taken seriously, as it could help enhance the experience for future patients.

The family and I liked that we were able to see my brother without having time restraints. He was later transferred to west wing (building next door). Throughout my brother's stay at hospital, the nursing staff and everyone my brother encountered during his stay at both wing, were accommodating, caring, helpful and good spirited. Thank you Grossmont Hospital for taking very good care of my brother. I would send shout-outs to staff that were extra helpful and kind. Sorry I did not remember everyone's name. He started in the ER where they took good care of him with a fast assessment and understandable assessment of the situation. They were short beds so it took almost a day to get him admitted to the hospital. He made it to 2 north. I watched as the all nurses had to really hustle with all the patients. They really were terrific - can't underscore enough how much were appreciated the team. The doctors and surgeon were excellent, top notch. Dr Desai and Dr Leung (surgeon) did a great job explaining everything and taking good care of him. His day nurse, Veeda ,was wonderful - attentive, sympathetic and understanding. His night nurse chaseeka (sorry I don't recall the spelling) took great care of him. In fact everyone on the 2 north floor was soooo nice. Sometimes we grabbed someone in the hall and no one brushed us off, they were very helpful. I'm really sad about how understaffed this hospital is and how many patients they have. With respect to the room, there are two people assigned per room. Not really much room for visitors. When we first arrived I was hesitant as it doesn't feel sterile (other than the main lobby and surgery center). It's definitely showing its age. It would be nice for there to be an expansion or for Kaiser to open up - their facility is just sitting there... So overall, despite the appearance, given the situation, a good experience.

My brother, who initially brought him, was not feeling well and left right after updating me. Even though we explained this clearly, an aggressive security guard immediately tried to throw me out, called another guard, and they were getting ready to physically remove me while my elderly, confused father was somewhere in the hospital having X‑rays done. I was calm, just trying to make sure my father had a familiar face when he came back, but security refused to listen. The nurses were rough, cold, and showed no compassion; they did not even clean the blood from my father's face after his fall--I had to do it myself. The only professional and kind person was the ER doctor, who de‑escalated the situation when my father returned. The overall environment felt hostile and unsafe for an elderly patient and his family. The ER is also poorly signed and hard to find, especially compared with other Scripps locations like La Jolla and Hillcrest, which feel like completely different hospitals in terms of care and organization. I will never go back to this ER and do not recommend it to anyone, particularly if you are bringing in an elderly or vulnerable loved one

At least 2 cardiologists said his heart condition was like 'a ticking time bomb,' and needed the heart surgery but.... first needed to treat the sepsis which involved tests and antibiotics for two weeks at the hospital. To keep this brief, the heart surgery was over 11 hours of which was an excruciating time of nervousness for me. Well, the surgery was successful and as of today, after 2 years, my dear friend is alive to talk about it, although he was sedated all that time and can't recall much. He has other medical issues subsequent to that surgery but is not as life threatening. I've waited this long to write this review, because sometimes when surgery is a success, the patient's diagnosis post surgery can decline rapidly. Not so much in my friend's case, he's Alive!! She expressed absolutely no empathy, kindness, or consideration for the patient. My wife had an appointment for a procedure (for which she had to wait a month), but the office staff made a mistake with the orders and schedule, so they did not perform the procedure. In addition, the staff failed to provide the patient with important, scheduled specialty care. We were treated horribly by the office manager. Here is what the office manager should have said when she came into the room, "I'm so sorry you've been sitting here, half naked, for 45 minutes after the medical assistant said she would be right back to start your procedure. Is there anything I can do to make you more comfortable? I'm afraid that our office made a mistake in the ordering of the procedure for today and there are some issues that we need to get resolved. I'm sure this is very frustrating and disappointing for you. I apologize for your discomfort and inconvenience. But, I'd like to work with you to get this resolved as quickly as possible and with the least inconvenience to you as possible. We value you as a patient and want to make this right." The office manager said nothing like this. She expressed absolutely no empathy, kindness, respect, or consideration for the patient. She failed to address important specialty care that needed to occur at this appointment. She tried to blame us for the mistakes of the front desk staff and the medical assistant. She was reluctant to admit that the front desk staff made an error. She did not offer to make things right or go out of her way to get things resolved smoothly. She did not say she would try to expedite any follow through. She never expressed any care or consideration for the patient. Needless to say, we will not return to this practice.

The story is detailed and long so to pin point the issues... lack of knowledge of the patient lack of communication skills, lack of compassion. I was completely blown away. I had to hold my composure to address the matter I was so upset regarding the neglect and lack of responsibility to the patient's care, especially considering what the patient was being treated for.
