Walk in are $40, did not disclosed that to me. Never been at a shop charging a basic cut here in Stockton. My shop was closed so I thought I would give them a try. Grew up in Stockton, never heard of a barbershop charging $40 for a walk in! You want to charge that? Ridiculous.! Just because I didn't ask the question "How much" until 5 minutes in the chair. $40 for Sharp and Dapper $25 for basic! 209 doesn't put up with this crap! I did not receive a very good experience when I went here. The first thing I noticed was , I walked in and wasn't greeted or acknowledged at all! So unprofessional. when I asked for help they all asked if I had an appointment & I said no I'm a walk in & they didn't say anything after. 30 minutes passed or more and right before I almost walked out someone finally said something along the lines of I'm new I do walk ups etc. anyways. The guy didn't do very good & he wasn't very memorable & way overpriced for what it is. but overall I did not have a good service experience here. read more

First off, I hate to write this,  it took me two days to do it as I hate knocking people, but this experience was terrible. The right thing to do would have been to apologize and provide a discount, not much as 10-20 bucks would have been fine for me at least to know that she respected my time and me as a customer. Instead, she decided to still charge me FULL PRICE after the following experience. See below for the details. So, I cannot morally recommend this person yet for braiding and cutting. At least if you have a date / significant event coming up as I did. I mentioned this prior to the appointment and several times during the appointment. So to be transparent. This person is pretty new at braiding and cutting hair. She did not inform me of that until I was in the chair. The shop that recommended her did not mention that either, which is also part of my frustration as I had to react at the moment. I could not just get up and leave at that point because I had a weekend planned with my fiance and a press photoshoot early the following week. So timing-wise, I was screwed. I asked for manbun braids and a simple mid fade. I sent the example style several days in advance in case there were any questions. She began to fade first and took over an hour to get it...decent. Two people had to come to help as it did not look blended at all at first. Eventually, I decided to leave it as is because I did not feel comfortable cutting more hair, and at that point, I already knew I was going to have to scramble to find another barber to fix it hopefully, so I wanted to leave them as much hair as possible to do so. Then came the braiding. I am trying to be cordial throughout all of this because I genuinely want her to succeed. However, now my head is now FULL of wet gel. So my blowout is shrinking after struggling a bit; she is now not confident that she can pull off my requested style and has to undo it. Mind you; there is now another client waiting. At this point, my hair has shrunk, the gel has dried, and I have been sitting in the chair for hours. She offers to attempt another style, but at this point, it is much later than I expected to be in the shop, so I ask for a simple 6-row design. She had issues with that too! Then with a comb tried to COMB OUT the dry gel. I even requested a new blowout because I knew my hair was shrinking. She assured me that she had it under control. Then, later on, she mentioned that she noticed my hair was shrinking. At this point, it was a mess, and she asked if I would come the following day because she did not want to keep her next client waiting because they had a pressing engagement. Lol, I was shocked I did not cause this. This was after I had already mentioned that I was leaving for Napa for a weekend with my fiance. So this hair appointment was crucial, and now I am looking crazy with a blunt fade and loose cornrows. It is now two days later; my braids are already COMING OUT. My hair usually stays braided for four weeks and still looks reasonably crisp. If you look at my hair now, you would not think it was even cut or that I have had my braids in for a long time and did not take care of them. So now I have to scramble to have my hair rebraided and cut, which I have to pay EXTRA for because it is a last-minute job. Tip to new braiders. INFORM YOUR CLIENT OF YOUR EXPERIENCE. If you cant do a job, then do not take it. Learn, get better, and try again. If you take a job and mess up, then apologize and provide a discount. It shows that you value your client's time and trust. However, every lousy job reflects on every at the shop and the brand as I do not trust anyone there. They just sat back and watched this happen. This is not to say that she will never be good or will not succeed, but I debated on writing this, but ultimately I had to because if you are prepping for an interview, wedding, an article, etc. and your hair is a big part of your presentation this could end up wrecking everything. Suppose I could not find someone to fix my hair on Monday. I would have had to cancel my articles and shoots, which would have cost me over 2,000.00. When you make an appointment, you expect to get seen at that time. Well not the case, I made my appointment way in advance for my nieces Sweet 16, my hair is a mess and booking with the main barber Ulysses was what I thought I wanted. So I came into the shop (which by the way is very unwelcoming) being mugged by all the barbers and clients in chairs, some of which weren't even getting cut. I'm guessing the shop owner greeted me as if I wasn't or he was too booked to be bothered. I told him I had an appointment today, and that I'm 15 mins early just to settle in, he then said that he had no appointments scheduled for the rest of the day and that he won't be able to cut because his wife was shooting a YouTube video, and his friend was doing something setting up the shop. At this point I'm very pissed because I have something very important to be at and I had no other plans to see anybody else, I told him my frustration and he spoke to me with attitude and saying words under his breath but I wasn't having that, I told him that running a business means RUNNING A BUSINESS, not putting something else before your future clients and lying and forgetting we had an appointment. The place was full of Latinos guys talking loud, cussing, saying the "N" word which was odd being that I didn't see one African American around, it was very uncomfortable to say the least. COVID-19 review. At first glance, I walked by outside and saw a staffer at the front was NOT wearing a mask. It's silly they say masks are required yet don't enforce it with their employees. Later in the day, my fiance went in and 2 staffers were NOT wearing masks, not even around their ears. Nada. No masks in sight. His barber was wearing a mask the entire time (45 minutes) which was good. I applaud that barber. But the other 2, what's their excuse? And the place was pretty full on that side of the space too. Took my 5 year old nephew in today after calling and asking if they can take him in the same day. They were able to take him 30mins after I called which was great. The barber (didn't catch his name) was great with my nephew, he was even making light talk with him to make him feel more comfortable. Took my nephew and my boyfriend here to get a cut. They take walk ins so that is always a plus. One of the guys who does the walk ins was really good, very precise but takes a long time. The other guy wasn't as good. My boyfriend's line was a little crooked, doesn't have to be perfect but he wasn't able to line up my boyfriends beard or mustache straight either so we probably won't be coming back. Walk ins are not welcome here even thou it says it on their front door. I have one of simplest haircuts very basic. Their were 3 barbers, and non did not want to take my money. Wow! This place has the worst customer service ever! We made an appointment online and my son was really excited to get his hair touched up before his 8th grade promotion. We walked in and immediately felt uncomfortable! My husband asked if they had time for anyone to take him. They said they would see what they could do. Uly is a phenomenal barber with his extensive knowledge and experiences with hair in regards to styling, techniques, and products. When he first cut my hair, he would take his time and not rush to ensure everything was executed to meet not only my standards, but his own high standards. Today, he still delivers with quality haircuts with less time without sacrificing attention to detail. His customer service is great, he makes sure all of his clients are taken care of and is always seeking for ways to elevate his business. The shop embodies these principles that Uly sticks by.
