If the price of the piping and drapes didn't save us $400, and the staff I spoke with was nice, I would've given this place a 1 star. Here's my laundry list of complaints - 1. Sharon's owns a cargo van, why couldn't they have delivered the piping and drapes to the reception hall, which is less than 5 miles away, and instead, making us pick it up. I would've gladly paid extra for delivery if that meant we didn't have to go pick it up and drop them off at the reception hall on the busiest day of our lives. 2. Sharon's ruined my spa day because they called me during my appointment to tell me they're closing early and that I have to make it there before closing, then telling me it won't fit in a car, only a pickup truck or bigger, and that if we don't get it by 4pm because someone is unwilling to stay for an extra 10 minutes, we're SOL. They should give me $200 to make up for what I had to pay for my ruined spa day. 3. While the drapes were nice and matched our colors nicely, the piping was all scratched up. Don't they own more than one set of piping? If all of them are bad, then there's another reason to not use Sharon's. 4. Their website is absolutely terrible. It's hard to navigate, and advertises items they don't carry. For example, we were going to rent some high chairs from them in addition to the drapes instead of paying a premium for the reception hall to supply those, but when I called Sharon's, they said they don't carry those. Rented piping and draping for my wedding reception. The location was convenient, the drapes were beautiful, and the staff were kind. Price was definitely right! My complaints: First, the pipes were kind of tough to put together because the bolt holes were badly damaged from wear and tear. Most importantly, the hours on the website and on the store door say 9am-5pm. The day before my wedding, the most hectic day of my entire life, they informed us at 2:45pm that they were closing at 4pm because someone had a child to pick up. I had organized the entire day around picking people up from the airport, picking up flowers, organizing tuxedo fittings, and had the whole thing planned out. With a little more than an hours' notice, they told me I had to be there to pick all the equipment up (with a pickup truck, no less). It ruined my day and left a friend stranded at the airport for 45 minutes. I called to ask if I could show up at 4:10pm and the person on the phone told me that the doors would be locked and I'd be out of luck. Sharon's is NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE FOCUSED. I rented linens for a Saturday event. Their hours are Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm. Because I work on Friday, my boyfriend picked them up for me. When he picked up the items, and got them to the car he looked at the packing list and noticed that they did not include the skirt clips as listed on the list. He went back inside to get the clips. The staff rummaged around for some,counted them out, tossed them in a bag and said "here, I gave you the 1" clips, we have 2" but most tables are 1". My boyfriend took them and was on his way. Had he not reviewed the packing list we would have not had any clips...crisis overted, right? WRONG...The next day as we were setting up we were unable to use the $75 worth of skirting, because we had the wrong size clips. We needed 2" clips. They are not open on Saturday to fix the problem...why isn't an event company open on Saturday, the biggest event day of the week? I am not an event expert. Before this experience I had no idea that table skirt clips come in two sizes. I believe that the sales person that took my order should have done a better job walking me through the rental process, they are the experts. They should have asked me "will you need 1" or 2" clips? I could have called the hall and found out which clips I needed, easy. The sales person should be guiding customers through the rental process to make their events flawless. If I walked into Sears and told the salesperson that I needed to buy a white stove their first question would be... gas or electric? They would not just send me home with the most popular option. They would ask . When I returned my unused linens on Monday and explained why I was unable to use them, there was no apology or offer to refund any portion of the rental fee. I would like to start by saying that I have used Sharon's Party Rental for years, and have never had any problems with them. Though in the past,I would pick everything up myself. This time we ordered a tent and tables delivered. I don't want to even give one star after today. My wife called and set up everything with Sharon's for a tent to be delivered and set up today for my stepdaughter's graduation party tomorrow. I was in the room with her, so I know that all the information was given, and her phone is loud, so I could hear the person on the other end as well. Today when the crew came to the house to setup the tent, we were told that our payment had not been posted, when over the phone yesterday we were told that it had already gone through before the call was ended. The guys on the setup crew were great, they called the owner and tried their best to get the situation resolved. The owner, however, began to speak with my wife on the phone and started to yell at her about the payment, rather than look up the account and see where the problem was. When he finally did look up the account, he saw that the payment had posted, and the mistake was on their part. We were told we would not have to be home for the set up either, since we told the person on the phone where we would like it to be, luckily we were home, because aside from the payment issue whoever took our order did not include notes on the delivery slip. Nor were we informed that there could be no plants under the tent, so my wife had to cut down her rose bushes. Which was also something the owner felt the need to yell at my wife for. Like I said before, the guys doing the setup were great but, the owner is not professional at all! Whoever works in the office, maybe they just forgot to click save And lost the delivery notes, but that was also unacceptable. There were just too many mess ups on the company's part for this delivery, on top of the disrespectful way the owner treated my wife, to ever use this business again. From now on, my family and my household, will be seeking our needs elsewhere for party rentals. If the store had been open today, the owner would have had to deal with me. He still might have to on Monday. I would strongly advise anyone seeking to tent anything for a party, to take their business elsewhere. Only because of the owner and the office staff. I wanted to use Sharon's Party Rental because it is 1 mile located from my house and because I try support local businesses but their "policy" just makes no sense. I called today because I wanted to have my tables and chairs for a party delivered to my house. I live in Dearborn Heights and again live 1 mile (3 minutes) from their location. They wanted to charge me $30 for delivery because I live in Dearborn Heights but it's only $20 to deliver to Taylor and Allen Park. It's not that I'm cheap but that just does not make sense to me. I asked to speak with the manager regarding the policy and the employee, Al, kept giving me an attitude about it. When he said, "Well what if she doesn't come in today" I said, "Then maybe I'll cancel my order and look elsewhere". He said "Okay bye" and hung up the phone. Oh, and he wouldn't answer my phone call when I called back to say that is not how you treat a customer. It's too bad that one employee can make a huge difference. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Poor management, extremely rude, and extremely unprofessional. Avoid if possible. They are cheapest rental company in the area for a reason. Surprise overcharge hit my credit card 10 days after rental for erroneous items, and the company would not work with me to solve the dispute which was in error on THEIR part. In my experience, I give this company a 0. They sent me out with stained linen. I called the owner before my event even started. I explained how bad the stains were in the linen. When I brought it back, not only did I not get a apology but he blamed the stain on Me. Also said that I was missing a table skirt. I told that I could not of had the skirt. He said that someone must of thrown it away. The owner took $75 out of my deposit. I will never use this company for any reason again. read more

Terrible customer service and extremely rude. Store has terrible hours, opens late, and closes early. I came in on a Thursday at 4:50pm and was told that I am unable to rent anything since the warehouse is locked at 4:30pm. Employees unwilling to unlock warehouse and take my money. Employees were clearly in a rush to go home and do not care about the business. To make matters worse I called ahead stating I plan to stop by before closing hours to rent items. Was not told that would be any issue with coming in during business hours. As a prior customer I can safely say bring your business elsewhere. The customer service is absolutely horrific. I was told to initial on the paper if I got the tables and initial for a specific amount of chairs. One of the tables were not given to me. I was told "well you shouldn't sign anything if you didn't read it" that is absolutely correct but it's the nature of how it was said to me. Being the person I am I admit my wrong doings and I am not a liar. The owners of this place are absolutely ridiculous. I usually try to refrain from blowing up but the sarcasm from the woman really pissed me off. Instead of going to ask the boy that loaded my car if he put a specific amount in the truck they automatically assumed I was lying to them. The saddest part is I was helping someone else out I will NEVER use this company. I would rather pay 100 more to get respected. They get 0 stars from me. Would give 0 stars if I could. Had rented a tent from them and they come over and set it up Friday for a party on Saturday. When I came home, the tent was filthy! I mean dirt and bird poop all over it and had a musty smell that you could smell when you were underneath it. I called and told them and they agreed to come swap it out....no problem, things happen. Upon arriving, they tell me they are just taking the tent and breaking the contract I had. Worst product to go with the worst customer service ever!! Avoid!!! read more
