As a California boba fanatic, I've been on the search for the best boba/bubble tea I could find in the DC Area, and this Sharetea is definitely in the running! Tea quality and flavor are good, and boba is perfectly chewy. I first tried the Mango Milk Green Tea, which though good was a little syrupy for my taste. However, I thought the QQ Happy Family Milk Tea was delicious. At 80% sweetness it was just right, and as someone who loves toppings the medley of boba, pudding, coconut jelly, and red bean was perfect for me. Main downside is that the store is quite small, and seating is just about nonexistent. But it is DC Chinatown and the location is convenient for the area so it's worth it to grab a drink and go explore. read more

My friends and I were walking around Chinatown on a hot day and we were desperately craving something cold. We noticed the Sharetea sign and went into the basement entrance. My first impression was that the place is extremely small and crowded. There was barely any space to see the menu, and you feel rushed to place your order as soon as you walk in. The good thing is that the waiter was really nice (and cute) and answered my questions about different flavors. I ended up ordering the Okinawa Pearl Tea with bubbles, expecting something sweet since the description did say it included brown sugar. The bubbles were pretty chewy, not bad. The milk tea, however, was way too milky and not sweet at all. I had a hard time finishing the drink just because the milk flavor was completely overwhelming and I could not taste the tea at all. Hands down the best boba place in DC! Located in a basement in Chinatown, Sharetea is worth the trip if you're looking for the perfect boba texture- chewy, and not overly soft. Came here today and because of their covid operations, customers must order online and input their phone numbers. Once orders are completed, customers will be texted to come inside for pick-up. The store is quite small so they were limiting occupancy to two customers at a time. My go-to order is Okinawa, less ice, 80% sweet with boba. The toasted brown sugar milk tea is sweet, creamy, and has a deep umami, nutty flavor. Give it a try! I prefer my order with less ice because it means I get more milk tea in my cup. What I like most about Sharetea is that they only have one cup size at 22oz, which is quite large for the price. Who doesn't like a bubble tea?? I found out about this place from a friend and I'm happier for it. It's located in Chinatown but you can easily walk past it if you're not careful. It's a basement level shop and fairly cramped. It's not uncommon to see long lines that snake up the narrow stairs and spill out onto the crowded sidewalk. But I have a suggestion for that - keep reading. :) I ordered the Matcha Green Tea Creama and it was SO delicious. You can tell them how sweet to make it, and I recommend going on the lighter side because it can get overwhelming. The matcha was yummy and the creama was frothy and smooth. Highly recommended! Now to beat that pesky line... Ritual is an app for ordering food ahead of time and this location participates. Very hole in the wall location within Chinatown. It wasn't hard to find which was really nice. The door is situated below ground cause it's kind of a basement. I really liked the space. Just enough room to order on the go. I really liked the menu, it was nice and quaint. The service was super fast, the people working there were really nice and even the tip jar was comical. You'd have to go to see it. I ordered an oolong milk tea with boba pearls. An OG choice of mine. They also serve cool seasonal drinks like peach oolong tea and strawberry black tea. Make sure to look down for signage as it's in the English basement on H St. You can select from fruit teas, milk teas, brewed teas, and fresh milk. I loved the coconut and the matcha milk teas that I've tried thus far, and I can vouch for the bubbles (chewy and not overcooked). I also appreciate that they have non-tapioca options (mmm, herbal jelly) and the ability to lower the sugar amount in your drink. I was so happy to see Sharetea here, because it's one of my favorite chains that we have in California but there aren't any in the city I live in now (it's very sad). I came on a Sunday afternoon, and the line was really long! It took me twenty minutes waiting in line and getting my drink. I got my favorite drink, kiwi fruit tea with aiyu jelly, and it was great! The tea is really weak though, but I still really like the fresh kiwi fruit and the really silky and smooth aiyu jelly. It's pricey for a drink at $4.95 post-tax. There's not really anywhere to sit inside, and the store itself is very tiny. Most of the space is used to make the drinks, and the line area inside the store is very small. DC isn't exactly a hot spot for boba (you have to go to Tysons, Rockville, or Annandale), so your options are a bit limited. And while this Sharetea location is rather inconsistent in terms of quality relative to other locations, Sharetea is easily the best place *within DC proper* to get your boba fix. It's downstairs from street level, and when you enter, you might feel a bit claustrophobic - the store is very long and narrow. To order, walk all the down the narrow store to the end (or more accurately, get in line and proceed down the store until you get to the counter). As with all reasonable boba shops, you can adjust the ice and sugar levels for most drinks. I tend to get the QQ or matcha red bean with boba. If you want something sweeter, the Hokkaido and Okinawa are both pretty sweet (and can only be adjusted down to 80% sugar). They also have a lot of fruit teas and mojitos that are especially nice on hot summer days. Generally, the drinks are solid but as mentioned before, this location can be really inconsistent in terms of quality and flavor. There's no seating here - just a waiting area, and the flow of the store is a bit rough in that you'll have to come back to the front (walking against the line) to collect your drink. Restrooms are located just past the ordering counter and are pretty clean, so it might be a good idea to use these after ordering but before getting your drink unless you want to brave moving down the narrow section again. read more

I have been here a handful of times and tried an assortment of drinks since my first review. I can honestly say that Sharetea has become my favorite place to get boba in DC. The Gong Cha that just opened not too far away does not compare. My go to drink is the wintermelon tea creama with aiyu jelly. The creama drinks have sea salt milk foam on top. The sweet and salty combination is heaven in your mouth. Yes!! A place in DC where we can finally drink delicious boba tea and milk! I'm overly excited if you cannot tell. Sharetea is a small space, underneath some building in DC Chinatown. Nevermind that, who cares if it's small. This is the closest thing we've got to the Kung Fu Teas of Annandale! You walk in, grab a menu or take a look at the tv menus, and get in line. Most times the line is long, but it's worth the wait. Once your up, there are a lot of drink choices. I never felt rushed and they will take time to answer any questions. After ordering, walk back towards the long line and wait by the tvs for your goods. There isn't space to sit, chat, or anything like that so grab your drink and go. Their service was decent but I'm used to being asked if I want bubbles in my tea or not. They only asked what type of ice and sugar I want. Furthermore it's inadequate seating for a spacious area. I prefer Kung Fu Tea more than this location...I think there is room for improvement. They also don't do a good job of differentiating regular bubble tea from smoothies or other drinks. The lack of clarity led to me ordering the wrong drink for my son which was disastrous. They definitely need to work on clarifying their sales by giving better explanations. read more

OVERALL: authentic bubble tea joint in DC that's a bit hard to find at first. They have a variety of flavors but only one size - however, their flavors are pretty good and you can adjust the sugar/ice levels. I tend to judge bubble tea places by their original tea flavor, and Sharetea has a fantastic original black/green tea. Their tea has a rich and strong flavor, with no strange aftertaste at all, and they can make it hot too. Both the cold and hot versions are amazing, and the tapioca is pretty decent as well. I usually get the 30% sugar, which is good for someone who doesn't enjoy super sugary drinks, but I've gone with friends who have gotten higher sugar levels and they all seem to like it as well. I think this place probably has the best-tasting tea I've tried in DC/NoVa, definitely better than KFT. The only thing that's not super great about this place is that the seating area consists of...three seats. Friends and I came here after lunch in Chinatown - we got the taro milk tea, oolong, and winter melon green tea (all were great) with varying levels of sweetness. That's right, you can adjust your sugar level in your drink! Considering most boba shops either serve drinks that are too sweet or not sweet enough this is a huge plus. Sharetea can be hard to miss since it's small and underground but just look for their inflatable mascot outside the store. 9/10 would most likely go again! read more

I order from this place a decent amount, so i figured it was time I should write a review. I've had the classic black milk tea with boba as well as the Hokkaido and Okinawa. I'm still very partial to the classic black tea. The Okinawa was my next favorite, but all of them are delicious and refreshing. I was skeptical at first seeing as it's in the basement of a building but looks were definitely decieving. I ordered the iced coffee with ice cream (the ice cream I could have done without tbh) and it was amazing. This boba is the best boba I've had in a while. Even though the space inside the store is cramped, it keeps everything in order. I came with a party of 16 and every order came out in order with nothing missing. This is probably the smallest Sharetea but probably make sense since it is in DC downtown, can't really be compared to Texas one. The narrow space in the store makes it hard to navigate from order to pickup if it is crowded. However the staffs are friendly and produce same quality of drink. Pretty great! I had the Classic Black Milk Tea with Boba. I asked with no ice (to get more of the drink) and regular sweetness. The boba was nice and chewy, and drink had the creamy sweet black tea flavor. I really enjoyed it. My sister had the kiwi fruit drink with Aiyu jelly with 30% sugar. Boy, was it sour! I guess removing sweetness led for the sourness to really overpower. My brother got the QQ Happy Family drink because it was on the top 10 list. However, he didn't realize it was basically all the toppings in a black milk tea. He didn't exactly enjoy his boba with every sip polluted with red bean. It's great because you can customize your drink, and the staff are really nice. I drink a pretty decent amount of bubble tea. I came here because I was in there area and I wanted my fix. So I ordered the happy family milk tea off the menu with regular ice and normal sweetness. I've never had anything like it! It has red beans (I think) different sized bubbles, lemon peels, and what I think is aloe pieces too (as well as some other things I just can't identify)! The guy who took my order was nice and explained what I was getting. It's pretty tight in there as well so be prepared if you go when it's crowded. I'm not giving it a 5/5 because it wasn't really spectacular and I'm not particularly wowed. If I'm in the area I'd go again and try something else. read more

First of all I want to say WATCH YOUR STEP! And I don't just mean down the stairs (more on this later). I am from California and a frequent customer (sometimes up to 4 times in a week) and used to go with my co workers all the time! I just recently moved to DC and rushed after work to make it before they close which is 8pm!!!!! But like why would a boba place close so early on a Friday night!? In California it closes at 11:30pm. Anyway, I was very excited to have it in my new home and was very disappointed. My boyfriend ordered his drink with bubbles (and when the order was reiterated to us, she included them). However when he received his drink it did not include it and the person who made it was giving us a hard time about it. In addition to this unfortunate experience, as we were walking out, my drink in my hand,I tripped and fell bruising and scraping (picture attached) my knee and twisting my ankle. There is a random step right when you go out of the boba shop and before you go up the steps! The step leads right into a brick wall and a worse accident could potentially happen if no changes are made. The workers did not even ask me if I was okay and some of my drink spilled as well. Honestly, I've been such a reliable customer in California and expected this to be the case here in DC. I am so disappointed. So far so good, has been very consistent and love the variety. The boba is always nice and chewy, and I especially enjoy the Hot Milk Tea with boba. I also tried the Coffee w/ Crema which was good too. One thing to note is that I feel for the size of drink, the price point is really good. I can get a delicious drink with or without boba, and it'll be under $5. When I get a flavored coffee in DC, it can range from $5-almost $8!! So I would definitely recommend this place for teas and coffees, and I look forward to trying some other stuff soon! read more

The quality of their product is always consistent. I agree with previous post that for the most part, should you crave that little extra sweet drink, generally the 25% is sweet enough. A nice little tea place in Chinatown. I probably would have missed it if I wasn't actively seeking it out on Yelp. Service was fast, menu was pretty extensive. I liked that you could get a lot of the milk teas hot, since I never saw the option offered at other locations.
