Throughout my adult years, I have had the experience of purchasing a few different houses in…read moreToronto, New York City, and upstate New York. My journey began with my ultimate decision to move to Vancouver from upstate NY last year. I booked a trip to coincide with Vancouver Gay Pride and wanted to get a feel for the real estate market while there. I asked my Dr. friend in NYC for a realtor recommendation. His friends in Vancouver referred me to Shawn. To get a second opinion, I approached an acquaintance and to my surprise and probably synchronicity, my Internet friend did as well. In essence, when making such a decision that can impact my life and well being, I wanted to work with someone that I could trust. I touched base with Shawn via email before my visit. The process was completely painless. He listened to my wishes and we went from there. Prior to my arrival Shawn sent me recent sales in my price range in a couple neighborhoods he thought I might be interested in. I walked around the West End and some other areas looking at buildings that had recently sold. It gave me a good feel for the neighborhoods, buildings and lifestyle. I then met with Shawn and gave him my feedback. When I returned to NY he had set me up on monthly sold notifications and any new listings he got. I also kept an eye on Mlssupersearch for new listings. One of Shawn's listings that he sent me was for a beautiful modern 2 bedroom in New Westminster. I hadn't even considered looking outside of downtown Vancouver. The price was attractive and I could get more space and parking. I returned in February with a list of units I wanted to see. Shawn took me around to many listings. We discussed the up side of a new building and what to be careful of when buying into an older building. I ultimately decided on an older 2-bedroom apartment with an million dollar view. Shawn held my hand during negotiations, went over the depreciation report on the building and was there for the whole process. He also suggested Lisa Niro of Bell Alliance for closing. I returned in April for closing and am now excited for my renovation and living in New Westminster. Shawn was awesome throughout the entire home purchase process. From the work he did prior to the exploratory trip, great communication during the search, timely on-going communication, and then most importantly through the inspection and closing process. Happy to say that I just closed on my 2-bedroom condo in New Westminster that Shawn helped me with. Shawn is a consummate professional. Throughout the past several months, Shawn has been there every step of the way. He has always answered every call or email no matter the amount of my inquiries. His professionalism, mentorship, knowledge, honesty, and hard work ethic are much respected and appreciated. I never felt that he was just trying to sell me a house, but that he was there to assist me to answer my questions and help me to make the best decision to leave New York despite my provoking on going questions. Thank you Shawn. Bil
