Specially we were looking for goalie gloves and not having any idea of what a beginner should go for I knew we needed the help of a professional and not Amazon this time. Upon entering the store I was blown away by how organized it was and how much apparel they had. Cleats, shorts, socks etc. And a wonderful wall of goalie gloves. After discussing the differences of gloves, types, with metal bars and without we settled on a beginner glove which met all our needs. Through this process I also learned everything I needed to know about gloves and I was completely educated where I feel more confident in knowing what to look for next time. Of course I will still be back once these gloves need replacing and for anything else I will need in the future. This was truly such a great shopping and educational experience.

I've played in these leagues for over a year now, so it kind of hurts to leave a bad review since…read moremy time hasn't been completely awful. However, as some reviews have pointed out, the refs can be very bad and make very biased calls. I've been ran into full speed in the back on breakaways, challenges that could've seriously injured me, only for the ref to call it a fair challenge. Meanwhile, if I challenge someone shoulder to shoulder in a fair play, it's called a foul if my opponent flails enough and looks at the ref. If I were you, I'd avoid Bedford Armory and Lower East Side, where I had experiences with those bad refs. The Brooklyn Bridge one was ok maybe 30% of the time (literally gave me a yellow card for defending his call while ignoring the entire opposing team hollering at him for it). The officials tend to ref the same fields every week. You risk getting injured due to the random nature of their officiating and inability to control games. I'm not sure if it's due to improper training or bias towards certain groups of players and favor towards others as some have pointed out. Whatever it is, it is completely unacceptable for me personally. My dad tore his ACL playing in his adulthood -- I don't want that to happen to me. I may try one more season if a good discount ever rolls around again, but I think I'll see how the refs and players are like around the other NYC leagues afterwards before deciding to come back ever again. It is what it is. I don't expect this review will be received by ownership well, but idrc at this point. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Please remember that before you crash out on this, Tarek.

Ok I didn't think I needed to actually say this but apparently I do. Tarek, I am not Yelp poster…read moreJohn D - that is not a fake account made by me and I'm not sure what lead you to believe I'd go through the lengths to do something like that. Please stop these assumptions and attempts to tarnish my reputation. I think you've already done enough. While it's unnecessary & futile to defend my character, I'll do it once more anyway. I decided to NOT leave an online review until now because I was still planning to play in the league. Yes we've had disagreements but I wasn't going to let that keep me from playing soccer. I enjoyed the location / day of week & didn't need to be a sore loser about you clearly not being a huge fan of me. But it seems you had another idea in mind and it appears you attempted to ban the team from joining again (as we planned) based off of some pretty unfair reasoning and false accusation. It seems you have tried to punish them for continuing their relationship with me. It appears you were successful in forcing them to choose - me or continue playing soccer at that location on Sundays. I have decide to speak up now after learning of what happened and hearing what you've been telling people that I've done - I feel others have the right to know how players like me are being treated behind the scenes. I'm going to go ahead and attach the email that Tarek has referenced & some screenshots for full transparency, along with the following clarifications to his claims for anyone still reading all of this nonsense: - Our team did show up for our last game during the downpour. I was there. I walked to the field with a sub for your team actually, a blonde woman, from Russia or Switzerland I believe? We laughed at the waterfall of water coming from the bridge underpass - it broke my umbrella. She asked if I was on [YOUR TEAM NAME] and I said no. She said someone from your team, a coworker of hers, had reached out the night before and asked if she could help because the team didn't have enough players. I met my captains at the sidelines and they let me know they had just forfeited - we were only able to get 4 of our roster there with the crazy weather, that much of what you said is true. The field was already flooding at that point. The rest of the team assumed the game would be rescheduled and didn't want to make the walk from the train in the downpour. It never was. - I did not demand field support in an email to you, the ball comment was an off hand comment. A small part in a larger email that was addressing the increasingly shorter & shorter game times we were experiencing. (Context: If D1 & D2 games before us ran long - our D3 games would be shortened on the fly to make up for the time.) I get that my emails must have been very annoying to you but you have misrepresented how I acted & how you had actually replied. Throughout our emails you had always implied that sharing my feedback was helpful to the league as it was growing. I had thought that I would be allowed to voice these concerns field side as well but I learned the hard way that I should NOT have talked to you right after you had just finished playing. So Let's wrap this up & move to that. - I feel your recall is incorrect regarding our field side interaction. I wasn't angry that we lost (we lost 90% of our games, we got used to it fast). I was angry that several times during the game, you made calls and stopped play on behalf of the ref. At one point in the heat of competition, you threw the ball off the field so our team had to chase the ball down. I felt you abused your powers as an owner to advantage yourself & your team. After the game - I asked if I could speak to you and you said yes. I tried to talk but you realized I was voicing a complaint and cut me off right away. I tried to continue so you repeated "just find another league" over and over, louder and louder, until teammates of yours surrounded me and told me to walk away. I apologized, admitted it was stupid to try to talk to you then and walked away.

Jay Montesinos and the rest of the academy members are first of all great with the kids...they keep it fun and still make the kids work hard. They are good clean professionals and I have no worry at all knowing my son is in there hands when he is training......great job fellas and keep up the good work! I would recommend the academy to any parent who's child is looking to further his skills in the sport.

I stopped playing for a long time and then came back to it with with Frank at Soccer Beyond. It was perfect for me as I had some foundation for playing but was extremely rusty. With Frank, you get to play lots and also scrimmage a lot. You work a lot on foundations, passing and dribbling skills that are designed to help you develop those skills. Even if you are advanced, there's a benefit. And you are a beginner, this is perfect as these are the type of drills you do as a kid. For someone who's more advanced and may say "why would I need to do that?" the answer is that even the pros still do the same exact drills. An as for beginners who might be put of by the previous reviewer's comment that "many of the drills seem to advanced for the absolute beginners" the truth is that this is exactly what we did as kids in school. Exactly. You'll get better just by coming often and working at it. (and get your own ball too) The group of people are also really cool and they generally come back again and again. And Frank is a really good coach and a very nice guy. To get this kind of instruction is really difficult. There's another guy in brooklyn that runs something similar and while I like him, he is simply no where near as good or as qualified as Frank is.

With all of the field hockey I've watched over the past six years you'd think all of the fields and…read morevenues would all just get jumbled in my head..but that's not the case and I tend to remember them all pretty well-the good and the bad. This review is for the venue during this camp only...it's run by outside people who are very good a running these camps and has nothing to do with the programming offered by Superdome. So, for the second year in a row my daughter had a weekend college showcase camp at Superdome and both years we've had a great time. The flow for 160+ kids and many of their parents is tight since there is one revolving door between the lobby and the playing surface, but we made it work. The surface itself is sport turf and not an AstroTurf type field (preferred by field hockey players), but it makes sense for such a multi-use facility. They also keep the temperature in the playing area cold enough to freeze meat so if you are watching and not playing bring a jacket or blanket. The lobby and meeting rooms are fine, but could use a little more air flow...chairs could use an upgrade for those of us whose butts are a little older. The food here is a little pricey, but the counter people seem nice and moved people through quickly. People tend to eat and then loiter at their tables so be prepared to ask someone to sit with them. Parking was no problem here either. I don't know what the place is like for their own programming, but for this event it's perfectly acceptable. I'd be happy to come here again, but I hope by this time next year there's no reason to return.

They took my money and did not provide the service that I paid for. Everyone should avoid this place for their shady business practices.
