Overdue review but here it is. Shaking crab has been one of our go-to spots for shrimp being that its a little closer to home and they serve pretty good flavored seafood. Our usual is their pound shrimp with Shaking Crab Sauce. It has to have the head on. There is just this better taste with the head on really lol ive tried before without it and its just not as delicious and satisfying i dont know why. Maybe its just me. Anyway, the appetizers are delicious too - Loaded fries, calamari, garlic noods and the clam chowder too. Pretty much everything on the menu is good. What gets the place crowded and busy at times as well is that they offer alcoholic drinks. Definitely brings in the crowd. Come in hungry, come in thirsty, come in for the seafood, just come in...seriously.

If you are a lover of seafood and seafood boils this is a great spot to satisfy your fixings. The restaurant has about 10 tables and is a good spot to come to with a group. Compared to other seafood boil spots the price of the various options are pretty affordable. Was also surprised how not salty the flavorings were (pleasantly surprised) and even had to ask for salt from the wait staff. Wait staff is super friendly and the vibe is very casual. Recommend you try one of the combos and opt for a carb like rice or french fries.

My friend was craving seafood at 9pm and this was only place that closed at 11, so we decided to give it a try and go. When we got there the place was small and cute. You have two seating areas, one where the bar is at and the other side just have a long bench on the side of the wall across. The host sat us down and we were able to oder. The waiter looked like she was tired and ready to go. She was ok but because she was tired a little attitude would come out of her. She was having such a bad day or something because when she went to the back of the bar she dropped all the garnishes. I know cause at that moment i went back there to ask her for something. Anyways though, I odered the fried shrimp basket that was pretty good, especially- because of the timing. So SHOUTOUT to the cooks. OVERALL, we laughed, we talked, and enjoyed our little bit of time. We got so bloated because everything was really good, so no complaints there. I forgot how much the bill came out to be but i paid $12 dollers for my shrimp basket and it came with fries ( Not Bad).

My favorite seafood boil place. While theres so many new places like this Shaking Crab in my opinion is the best. The price point is good for the amount of food they give. Food always comes out piping hot!! The house shaking sauce is The best! O my lamb its so delicious!!! The Harrison NJ location has closed so for those that miss it, come to Clifton! Its smaller place in size but food is still the same!!

Ohhhhhh myyyyy goodnessssss!!!! The Alaskan King Crab Legs are AMAZING and Seasoned to perfection!! I loved the garlic noodles too. Very small location and a little on the pricey side but well worth every dollar. This is a MUST GO location! Trust me you won't be disappointed.

My first visit to Shaking Crab was absolutely phenomenal. It's in a strip mall, but don't let the outside stir you away, the inside is a descent size and cute in decor. We started out with the Fried Lobster Basket. Who would have thought that a fried lobster tail could be so delicious , it was fried to perfection. The lobster tail was so hot & juicy and nicely seasoned, it came with Cajun Fries which were fabulous as well. The fried lobster tail was followed by snow crab legs with corn as my sauce I picked envie which is a cilantro lime sauce, which wasn't spicy. It was really buttery, garlicky, juicy and delicious. While the food was really good, this is not a place I would recommend for a date unless you've been together for a long while; the meal is messy and you smell crabby afterwards. I washed my hands 3 times before leaving. The restrooms were very clean. As for the service it was just okay, not as attentive as I would have liked. Also there is parking, but if you park in the back it's very dark with no lighting. The Shaking Crab is a great outing for friends and family but definitely not a first date. I will be going back again in the near future.

What a great experience!!! I'd never been here, let alone even heard of the place. A friend of a friend mentioned how great this restaurant was so my friend and I decided to go. SO happy we did. The flavors was amazing and food was fresh! I had the snow crabs pot with sausage and the shakin seasoning; my friend had the shrimp and mussels pot with the Seoul sauce. We both loved our food and it came out quickly too. Being in on a Friday, environment had a "Friday night out" vibe with loud music and a busy bar. The only down sides were that the cocktail we ordered was really sweet (and I don't usually mind sweet)...enough to know to just stick to beer/wine in the future. Also, the gimmick of being served in plastic bags wasn't really my thing (they also do to go bags in....bags..) but the great meal made up for it. So would I go back? Yup!

    Alaskan King Crab Legs....
    Ashlyn M.

In Boston, you order the Alaskan King Crab and you get the two claws and all the legs.. but for $50 in Clifton NJ you get one claw and a leg... felt like a rip off. The service was good, I mean everyone was super nice but our drinks didn't come til after our food, the appetizer was never rung in so we had to wait for that as well, and my friend can't eat the shaking sauce (cajun) so she ordered the "barlic" (garlic butter) and they mixed up our seasonings so we had to ask for new sides. Honestly the food was good overall but I was disappointed with the inconsistency to the brand name and what I'm used to with going to other Shaking Crabs.

We had a great dinner at the shaking crab in Clifton. This is a chain and they have a few locations in New York and New Jersey. We got the custom boil and a lobster tail burger. The food came out quickly and tasted great. There's a lot of options so I recommend taking your time ordering. Service was great and price was very reasonable. The only unpleasant experience was the crawfish. They seemed not as fresh as the others. Great experience overall

They do have coffee so that's a plus. And the coffee is made with a French press. Very tasty. They have a good menu. Something for everyone. We started off with the guacamole app and clam chowder. The guacamole is plentiful and tasty. Also the salsa was delish too. My table patrons didn't like the clam chowder. They said it was too salty. For the mains we ordered the roasted chicken, hot chicken sandwich and the Cajun seafood alfredo The Hot chicken was divine and huge. You won't be disappointed with that one. Good amount of spice. The roasted chicken was lemon rosemary jus was delicious as well. I ordered the pasta which was supposed to come with jumbo shrimp and andouille sausage. As soon as I received my dish I asked the waitress where the sausage was, she couldn't answer but went to get her manager. The manager said normally it's under the pasta. Still, no sausage in the pasta. They apologized and made the sausage and added it to the pasta. I wish that was the only issue. The menu states that it's a cajun Alfredo sauce and hate to say but this was just bland. Not flavorful at all. 2 waiters recommended it but I'm not sure why. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5. The portion size was good but again no real taste. Overall this was a nice place. I just need to study the menu and read more reviews about what to order here.

If you get her as your server, it's a start to a pleasant and great meal. Angelina knows what she's talking about! One feedback would be to learn how to better time the serving of the foods. We got our soup and shrimp cocktail as starters but literally 3 minutes later, our entrees were served to the table. Our entrees got cold while we tried to finish our starters. Please look to have the servers better time the serving of entrees AFTER the starters are finished. I had the New England Clam Chowder and the Prime rib. The clam chowder was tasty but lacked clams. They added andouille sausage to the chowder to give it a nice tasty twist but this should not have taken away from the amount of clams expected in a clam chowder. Prime rib was a good thick cut. But served warm and almost at room temperature. Not exactly how I would like my prime rib. Shoe string fries were tasty. My boyfriend ordered the Clam Chowder and Shrimp Cocktail as starters, followed by Cajun Sea Pasta and a bunch of side dishes - southern Coke slaw, black beans and rice and the loaded baked potato. Shrimps in the shrimp cocktail was good sized shrimp topped with old bay seasoning. The pasta was seasoned just right, very tasty and delicious. Cole slaw was crunchy which meant the Cole slaw was freshly made and not sitting in the sauce for too long. Loaded baked potato was of good size and baked to the right softness. Black beans and rice was the only side dish that was a bit too salty but went great when mixed with the baked potato. Overall, we were impressed with Angelina's services, friendliness of the staff and quality of the foods.

My order consisted of Fried Oyster dinner, Fish & Chips dinner, and a Fried Shrimp & Scallops dinner. All came with French Fries and Cole Slaw. They also provided plenty of tartar and cocktail sauce. Additionally they have Malt Vinegar which is a must, at least for me when eating fish and chips. The oysters were cooked to perfection, as were the shrimp and scallops. CONS: The fish fillet was undercooked and the coating saturated with oil. I don't think the fryer was hot enough. French Fries were soggy because the steam from the closed containers. Easily solved by putting in a frying pan to crisp them up. Coleslaw was okay. As for Pricing, they are quite high for portion served. $30.00 for 2 shrimp, 2 scallops and a mound of french fries is outrageous. I can get a full seafood platter at any decent diner or restaurant for this kind of money. I think I'll look elsewhere when I get my next craving for this type of cuisine.

Highly recommend trying that! Everything is essentially boiled seafood tossed in sauce, so don't expect anything grilled or crispy--it's all about the flavors and experience. The fried rice was tasty too, though the rice itself was a bit on the harder side. This isn't just a meal--it's an experience. Perfect for going out with friends, getting messy, and enjoying good seafood together.
