I've never had an issue with store organization, cleanliness, or employees. Accessories may be considered over priced, but periodically Famous Footwear will do a 2 pair deal (2nd pair half off for example). If they did more frequent sales that are easier to see, I'd probably come here more often. Aside from that my biggest plus with this place is convenience.

The shoe she picked had an off white sole which looked dirty to me. I work in healthcare and the last thing I want is a dirty looking shoe. She made us feel bad for how much time she had taken with myself and my son. She had already ordered a different style shoe for my son at a different location and seemed annoyed when I asked for a different style as well so I stuck with the one she had in stock. I later went back and exchanged the shoes for the one I wanted. I didn't need the shoes in March or April and just tried them on to "break them in" for work later this week. THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG SIZE!!!!! So now, I have a pair of shoes that are a size too big and won't honor the original size I ordered because "it's been too long." Really?! I'm not asking for my money back. Just the size I should have gotten in the first place. My wife and I went here to look at clothes for an upcoming vacation. She saw a pair of jeans on a bartender we know that she liked and asked here where she bought them, she pointed us to Marshalls. We were surprised by what we found when we went in. There were a lot of designer and name brand clothes, including clothes from shops in the mall here for a fraction of the price. I picked up a pair of shorts and a shirt for just over $30.00 that, if their tags don't lie, would normally have cost me over $100.00 combined. Based on the brand name on them and where I've seen them in the past, I don't think it's far off. They had clothes, accessories, shoes, and much more. If you follow the signs, you can find items you are looking for and sizes fairly easy. However, the racks are a MESS! People putting things back in different areas, so many different things mixed together. It's almost like trying to shop in a second hand store sometimes. So if you just want to save some money or you are on a budget but don't want to dress like it. I'd recommend checking them out. What's the worst that's going to happen? I visited Famous Footware on State Street Rockford last night around 8:50pm. I was looking for a…read morepair of dress shoes and a pair of sneakers. I found both and had some assistance from an employee. I then went up to check out. The nice employee that assisted me was waiting, she got barged out of the way by an older lady, she said I'll take it from here. The older lady asked me if I found everything okay... I told here yes all but the laces on the sneaker are gray and I would prefer white. She indicated to me that replacement laces are sold here. I asked if they could be included since I was buying 2 pairs of shoes... not much to ask. The older lady then proceeded to tell me did I want her to loose her job and that she loves selling shoes. Big mistake! I asked how much the laces cost, she said $2.50, I asked one more time "you are really going to loose my business today and in the future over $2.50 laces?" she said yes and was very stern about it. (Strike 1) I was quite disturbed that the associate that had attended to me on (2) separate occasions that night was being forced out of a sale (Strike 2) No flexibility and obvious frustration that it was now past 9pm closing time. (Strike 3) Horrible customer service and me wasting my valuable time trying on shoe and wanting to spend my hard earned cash. I am also in sales a Manager, just I sell Automobiles that cost thousands of dollars, if I treated a customer buying a car the way I was treated last night that would not only be unacceptable, but would be missing on thousands of dollars over the hundred or so that I was about to spend. Perhaps a person like the older lady that I encountered doesn't think that loosing a hundred dollar sale matters, but I bet the owners of Famous Footwear do. I'm going shopping today elsewhere and I bet if the sneakers at another store are gray they will give me white ones.
