Her kindness helped ease so much of my anxiety and made the sign up process easy.Coach Chris also made a great first impression. He allowed me to attend a free jiu jitsu class, and I really enjoyed seeing his dynamic with the students. He explained the techniques in a way that were easy to understand, answered all of my questions, and took the time to explain the different programs they offer so I could find the right fit for me. He also let me try a boxing class, which was a great opportunity to experience more of what OMA has to offer. I decided to sign up for the five week jiu jitsu course, and I honestly can't recommend it enough! I worked with Coach Brandon, who is patient, knowledgeable, and easygoing. I really appreciate the level of detail he puts into teaching. He would demonstrate the techniques multiple times and make sure everyone felt comfortable and confident before we gave them a try. He was also incredibly patient whenever I needed extra help, which, let's be honest, was often. One thing I really appreciated was the way Coach Brandon corrected me when I wasn't doing something right. He would explain the proper technique, why it was important, the advantages of doing it correctly, and the disadvantages of the way I was doing it. That made everything much easier to understand and remember. As someone who was already nervous about trying something completely outside of my comfort zone, having a coach who is patient, encouraging, and willing to meet me where I was made a huge difference. This is EXACTLY what everybody should look for in a gym. Not only is the training top tier but the students and coaches, no matter what, are always there to lift you up and strengthen your weaknesses. There is such an overwhelming feeling of positivity that I have never seen in any other gym. I was definitely very nervous stepping in on my first day but as soon as everybody started introducing themselves that feeling was replaced with the excitement to train with everybody there.
