    Classic old fashioned.

The server / bartender was pleasant, the food was timely. Overall, service was delivered how it should. It's a grungy little spot for a meal or a few drinks. Small bar upon entering with some dining area further in. I enjoyed both the salad and the drink. However, I felt like the old fashioned was a mini version of classic. And for $16, I expected more for a drink. Pic as seen for scale, roughly a bit over a shot. Apparently there's no happy hour either. I doubt I'd go again.

But if an interesting cafe / bar. The bar has some interesting things and bit of a different vibe like MFs. All in all an avg stop.

Great crepes and very tasty drinks. The service is excellent and employees are awesome. I would definitely recommend.

Sullivan street corner bar. Very small but quaint and rustic looking. ENTRANCE - open door with curtains is interesting. OUTSIDE - like all the places they have taken up the sidewalk and parking spots with tables so challenging to negotiate the entrance on a busy street. LOOK - their window to the street totally opens up. So nice ventilation. GREETING - the bar tender was extremely pleasant and very nice. We sat at the small bar. No more than 8 seats. FOOD - can't comment but definitely your pub and grub fare. ASSESSMENT- this is most likely an NYU hang out at night. BAR REVIEW - not a full bar but basic options are covered. Wine choices are limited and fair at best. I tried their Pino noir it was slightly below average but only $11 (you get what you pay for) - lol

Wonderful cafe with a horribly racist patron. Shade Bar was the perfect place to end our girls day, my two friends and myself decided to get a crepe and catch up in the outdoor dining area. The crepe was delicious, hot, and perfectly chewy and the servers were very kind! However, our experience took a turn for the worse when an older woman walks in to sit and order a cup of tea. This woman seemed to be a regular, as she not-so-politely ordered the waitress to turn on the heat. Anyways, being rude to waitstaff is strike number one in my book. But the antics do not stop here.... As my friends and I were conversing about our days, the same woman yells from across the outdoor dining area for us to be quiet, huffed and puffed, and said a few other choice words. My friends and I, stunned at this extremely out of pocket remark, stayed a few more minutes and decided to leave because this woman was very clearly not well in the head. As we got up to go, I said to the woman "that was not kind of you to speak to us like that, that was uncalled for. I'll be hoping you have a better day" to which she replied "oh yeah? Well I'll be praying for you all to LEAVE THIS COUNTRY AND GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM" screaming at my friends and I. My friend promptly went inside to tell the staff, and I'm not sure what was done from that point on, but I feel horribly sorry for the waitstaff that needed to deal with her rude personality. This woman needs to realize that she is sitting in one of the most diverse cities in the world, and if she doesn't like it then she can leave. I hope that if you decide to visit this cute little cafe on a Sunday afternoon, that you do not run into this miserable, rude, and racist woman.

I've been going to shade since I was 21. I can't believe it's nearly been ten years. One of the first places I explored my love of cocktails. The crowd here tends to lean older, and is usually filled with regulars. The bartenders are nice enough-- no bullshit and occasionally will crack a smile if you're not a regular. I'm not one to get upset about that. If you can take my drink order and get it out fast. I'm glad. They have a good sizeable bar and menu. You can customise their cocktails as well. Always appreciated. The atmosphere of the place is very chill. The bartender picks the music and their vibe is usually very mellow. It's dark and oaky. If you're looking for a casual date place. This is great. They've been lovely during COVID. One meal per table. And reasonable price for their food, which is pretty good. They had a kitchen before Covid so I hope they're doing well. Definitely one of my favourite bars in Manhattan.

Shade is a really quaint, hole-in-the-wall place tucked away just off NYU's campus. We stopped by for a quick drink right before a comedy show. I really loved the aesthetic. It seemed very dim and eclectic and just simply interesting. It was the kind of place that you could go at any time of day or night and get a drink or ten. They also aRe apparently big on crepes? Like I said, eclectic. But in a good way. I got the Moscow mule and my partner got a Hendricks and Lemonade. They were both on special and the prices were pretty good considering the size of the drinks and the shelf of liquor used. I was not disappointed in that regard at all. Our waitress was super super cool. Oddly I want to say that she reminded me of Harley Quinn and i loved that about her. I wish I had her name to give her a shoutout but it escapes me. All in all, what a fun little place right in the middle of a lot of hustle and bustle. Check it out!

It would not have been such an inconvenience if it wasn't raining and there was no place to stand for 2 hours. I hopped back on the subway as my only option as I was hungry, cold and wet. After taking the wrong direction to Marcy Ave and getting back on track decided to come back. Got here and asked for the NY Cheesecake crepe with Carmel instead of chocolate and he said he has to CHARGE me for Carmel instead of chocolate. Huh! I explained that I took the subway twice $3 each way because when I got here, the food delivery truck was outside delivering boxes and the sign said opening a 1 pm. Mind you I already said it was my second time here today when I walked in. Really!?! Terrible customer service!!!!!! I'm from out of town but yikes! I left Times Square to visit this small business in the rain. The $19 crepe was decent.

Being only a few blocks away and rated fairly high, Creperie popped up on my search so I knew I had to stop by on one of my evening walks back from the office. Although a rather tiny little shop, Creperies manages to still have some very limited seating right outside. As well as counter space inside the shop if you don't mind standing and crowding with other people waiting for their orders. I ordered the Strawberry and Banana crepe as it seemed to be a popular option. Size-wise, this crepe is pretty hefty and filling. Comes in an aluminum container so it's much less messy to grab and go. Although sweet, I felt the crepe itself was just ok. Nothing about it really stood out nor made it particularly memorable. They offer both sweet and savory crepes here if you want to make a meal out of it.

Not to mention, two crepes made for (surprisingly) a lot of food. I ordered the Crispy Shrimp Tempura and the Spicy Crabmeat, plus a Thai iced tea and a dark chocolate milkshake. The biggest difference from traditional French crepes is the shell, as it was slightly crisp on the outside but soft and chewy inside, thanks to the rice flour. It holds savory fillings well without getting soggy. - For the shrimp crepe, the tempura kept its crunch, and the sauces added sweetness and heat without overpowering everything else. - The Spicy Crabmeat leaned richer and creamier with a mild kick. - Both were satisfying without feeling overly heavy. - The Thai iced tea was classic and sweet, and the dark chocolate milkshake was thick and indulgent. Service was quick and efficient -- you order at the counter, and the crepes come out neatly wrapped and easy to eat. The staff was friendly and helpful when answering menu questions. Ambiance is casual and compact, very St Mark's energy. Limited seating, mostly quick-bite style, and good for grabbing something while walking around the neighborhood rather than lingering. However, I was among the lucky few who did get a table, so I enjoyed everything there. I'd definitely come back again to try their other crepes.

Their pizza slices are creatively and beautifully crafted, but the vast majority have only a very slight coating of tomato sauce which you cannot taste, and little to no mozzarella. I don't enjoy their $10+ slices nearly as much as the $4 slice down the street. Everything that I order there looks better than it tastes.
