I unclipped him from our stroller and did. She wasnt paying attention and was checking someone else in. Rude. We then got seated. We asked for a set up for our toddler. Didnt get one. We went to get the sides and condiments for our food. There were no dipping bowls washed. I waited and waited and asked for it. Then i got it. We eventually got to eat and the food was fine. The meat came quick. When it came time to check out, we were left hanging with bill in hand. We placed cash on the table and left. On the way out, the waitress asked if we were ready to pay as she was too busy socializing. Its past the average lunch time on a week day. How is this place so poorly managed? My mom and I came here for a late mother's day lunch. We arrived at around 10am and I signed up on their waitlist. It said I was the 2nd party in line and it would text me when they're ready for me. They open at 10:30am and still no text so as we were approaching the door, there was at least 5 parties that had already walked in so I was so confused. We ordered a gyoza and an order of pork belly because I only really like pork belly for hot pot. Then we got up to get our seafood and veggies and sauces. I like to get shrimp, fish fillet, fishcake, napa cabbage, raddish, corn, mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms/fungus, and whatever random things they have that day. I was hoping they would have enoki mushrooms but not that day :( I decided not to get any noodles since that usually fills me up faster. I can never remember which sauces to mix together.... I just grabbed some grated garlic with chili oil and another one with grated radish with ponzu? The garlic chili oil was SPICY but tasted so good with the pork belly! DO NOT JOIN THE WAITLIST ON YELP! We joined the waitlist on Yelp @7:06pm as 86th in line, with the estimated seating of 8:43-9:15. The live activities bar on my phone showed as we moved up the line. Finally after 1.5hrs, we got the notification to check in. We checked in at 8:55 expecting to be seated immediately, only to be told that they don't actually use the waitlist on Yelp and that the wait time will start from when we physically checked in. They told us to wait ANOTHER 1.5hours!!!! We were 2 hungry people after a hike that already waited 2 hours and they expected us to wait 3.5hrs altogether? Cannot believe this. I'm sure if the owners cared about their customers, they would find a better solution. We kept getting text updates and everything, and then upon arrival they said they don't use the Yelp waitlist function? Then they should disable it on the Yelp platform, and all the texts too. I'm not a huge ACYE person but I'm happy to come to Shabuya to spend the $$ for a quality big meal with great service! It's on the second level of Ala Moana with plentiful parking in the garage directly across from it. Their prices vary based on weekday lunch Mon-Fri ($23 pp with a leaner menu) vs dinner/weekends ($31 pp with their full menu) so try to come for a weekday lunch for an amazing deal. But if you do have to pay the higher price, I still find it worth it at the higher price point, esp compared to the other hot pot options around here (for example ChongQing HotPot ACYE is $34 for a weekday lunch and $39 for a weekday dinner or weekend although their menu does include lamb & more varieties of premium cuts and seafood). There is a 1.5 hour eating time limit and a charge for wasting food. It's a good spot for just 2 people up to much larger groups and everyone can easily customize exactly what they want. Waits are usually minimal on weekdays but weekends can definitely get busy so sign up ahead of time on Yelp waitlist to avoid the line. Service has always been really fast, polite, and kind- I've had bad service at ACYE places because they're understaffed and overworked but it's never been the case here. After ordering your included drinks, broth base, appetizers, and a first round of meat from your server, head over to the ACYE salad/buffet line to grab your veggies, noodles, seafood, fish, and sauces. I like the original house broth because it's simple, and as I cook the meat, it becomes gradually more concentrated and umami with all the aromas of the veggies/meat cooking in it. The buffet line is clean and stocked with fresh ingredients including some of my favorites- pumpkin, potato, white fish filet, all kinds of cabbage/leafy greens, quail eggs, raw whole eggs, and tofu! Their sauces are standard and can be mixed/matched to your liking, I like the minced garlic and herbs to add some freshness. The meats have all been really good and come quickly after ordering. Super thinly sliced, it comes 3 slices per plate and our server came by frequently to ask if we needed to order more. I particularly liked all the beef cuts- from the leaner ones to the fattier ones, they all had very good flavor. This is definitely my favorite shabu shabu spot on the island and I hope they continue to have good business so I can get my fix! Located in ala Moana by Jamba juice it can get pretty busy but all the times I've been here for lunch, it's been quick to get a table just as a walk in. You sign in on tablet out front and they will text you when your table is available. I think it's $23 for lunch, you choose your broth and can order amount of meats. I think appetizer is extra? Karaage, gyoza etc. Then you can go up to grab your noodles, seafood, fishcake, and assortment of vegetables for your individual hotpot. I usually stick to original or sukiyaki broths. I love the goma and ponzi sauces. Meats are three thin slices so I think I can eat/ order about 10-12 trays? of meats and I am full. Gotta get the protein! So many veggie options, delicious cuts of meat and my past servers have always been around to put in an order quickly & then the meats come out quick too! FINALLY came here with my best friend. I always wanted to try this place but we just never ended up coming here till now. We came in September 29 & the service from KRIS with a K was just spot on. From beginning to end. I give him 5 starts. We came again last week Tuesday same time 10:30 & it looked empty. For $30.99, this all you can eat shabu shabu spot is really good. The vegetables taste fresh and the meat melts in your mouth. I loved the variety of vegetables, seafood and noddles at the buffet area too. We ordered rib eye, chicken and pork, and I personally liked the pork belly the best. It had the most flavor. Compared to other AYCE shabu places on Oahu, Shabuya has the best broth and fresh vegetables. Everything just tastes better here. The only negative part is that it is not kid friendly. My father and mother in law wanted hotpot for lunch because it's Chinese New Year. Of course we went to my favorite hotpot place ----- Shabuya. Shabuya is always crowded but we were pretty lucky. We almost was seated as soon as we got there. It's my in laws' first time here and they were impressed, especially with the lunch special. My father in law said the price was so worth it, especially he pays around the same for a plate lunch. The food is always fresh and ono. I love a good hot pot. Shabuya has a great variety of meats and vegetables for everyone. I especially like that they include appetizers because I always need something fried to go with my brothy meal. And lunch is a really good deal at $22.99 per person. For apps, we got the gyoza and all the karaage. Basically all the apps to try. I liked the original chicken karaage and the gyoza the best. The soy glazed karaage was a bit too sweet, and the volcano was a bit too spicy. For broth, we chose the original. Nice and light and doesn't take over the taste of the meats or veggies. We got all the meat, except chicken. I particularly liked the beef toro. So delicious! My hubs prefers pork with his hot pot and enjoyed the pork belly best. There were also seafood options at the "buffet." I tried some clams, shrimp, and seafood/veggie balls, but the sliced meat really is much better. You can also get udon, rice noodles, dried ramen noodles. I opted for the udon and it was the perfect starchy accompaniment. For vegetables, I enjoyed the traditional cabbage. There was also bok choy, zucchini, oyster mushrooms, onions, etc etc. Anything you'd want, really. I noticed some of the other Asian female customers were very well versed in eating at Shabuya and loaded up heaping plates of seafood. One lady in front of me basically took an enormous plate of oyster mushrooms, leaving me with scant few. lol. Not to worry though, they replenish frequently. I will definitely be back. My girlfriend always suggest this restaurant even though she has to drive from the Windward side, Kaneohe. She recommends us to join the waitlist before 10:30am to be the first seating as it can get very crowded! 90 minutes to eat! This is a hot pot restaurant and everyone has their own burner so its not Smokey at all! It's a nice clean and bright restaurant! Service is fast, quick and attentive!! We ordered the gyoza appetizer. Then 2 orders of the Toro Beef and Pork Belly! Next time, I'm going to try and get the Waygu and Rib Eye! I ordered the original base broth and my friend ordered the miso which I got a taste of hers! There is even Spicy Miso broth. We immediately headed for the seafood counter to get a large serving of the clams! They were clean and already cooked, all opened! They also had fresh prawns and mussels! There was a counter of different kinds of noodles: ramen, udon and I took the glass noodles! There is a huge assortment of fresh vegetables to choose from including spinach, carrots, baby corn, etc. My favorite is the Elephant Ears ( a type of fungus that is chewy and crunchy) I have never seen it in any AYCE buffet! Well obviously we have been back since my last review. They have changed the checkin. Doesn't tell you presumptively that "your table is ready- please check in". Rather it says what the wait time is. This is waaaayyyuu better than what they had before. I made the reservation on Yelp then went shopping and returned when they texted me that the table is ready. Jeffrey Y did great with service. Our waters were refilled. Table was cleared off with plates. He didn't allow them to stack up and look messy. However the girl that cleared the table at the end certainly splashed broth all over. Piggy appetite at Ala Moana Center. If your in the mood for hot pot, Shabuya has to be an option. Located in the Ala Moana Shopping Center, they are an "all you can eat " restaurant. They have a really nice selection of veggies, seafood and meats. The slices of beef, pork and chicken are ordered and trays ate brought out to you. There is a limit to the number of trays you can order at a time, but you can continue to order after finishing those trays. The seafood, veggies and other stuff to compliment your animal protein is obtained via salad bar type of set up where you can pile your plate to your hearts content. But be careful not to over do it because if you too much left over, they let you know you might be charged for excessive leftovers. The broths and sauces used have enough variation that most diners will be satisfied. During peak lunch and dinner hours it can get pretty busy and the wait times long. You can get on to a wait list too and you'll be notified when your table is available. It been years since my hubby and I been to Shabuya. I think the last time we went it was before 2020. Of course whenever we're at Ala Moana and we want to eat there the line is huge so we always end up somewhere else. Only down side is when we were seated the table still had some soup dripping. Like they had put down the pitcher of stock on the table and it left a ring of soup. No dig deal since I'm a mom and carry wipes with me. Ordering is pretty straightforward, order the broth, any meats, and appetizers. Veggies, sauces, and other add in can be found at the food bar. I was a bit disappointed with the vegetable offerings, bok choy, Napa cabbage, regular cabbage, sprouts. Zucchini, I swear the used to be more options, or maybe since we went during off peak time it wasn't the complete offerings. Same goes of the other adds ins, I swear there used to be more variation. Glad to know they still have the baby octopus it's my favorite! Pretty good option for sauces . The minced garlic is a kick in the face with garlic flavor. I love it! You need only a little bit or garlic and it still packs a punch. Meats were sliced super thin so it cooked nearly as soon as it hit the broth. When eating I couldn't really tell the difference between the beef options so I just kept ordering the prime blade meat just because it was the first meat listed and I was too busy trying to get my son to eat something other than just the carrots and rice. Wish they had a kids menu. Yes kids 40"-50" are charged $10.99 but my son, who tall for his age, got charged full price and all he ate were the carrots from the veggie bar, some of the chicken karaage, and 1/3 of his rice. My hubby of the miso soup broth and a said he wishes there was seaweed and tofu to add to the miso broth. We were leaving, I snuck a peak at the food bar and saw there was tofu but it was tucked away in the corner, so my hubby must have missed it. read more

Came in yesterday and was served by a sweet girl with a silly name tag "soju bomb". The food is always great here, but we had a bigger party than normal, and I was worried about the accommodations. They have really good broths (we like the original, spicy, and tonkotsu ones) and a great selection of meat, seafood, veggies, and everything in between. Their yuzu ponzu is so good and I basically use it for everything with some garlic, green onions, and daikon radish. The goma, not so much. I am very picky about goma and theirs is quite watery and bland. We of course always go for the prime cut beef. I tried the pork belly but it got pretty tough. Their sides are good too but we normally don't get it because we don't want to fill up on them. They have a really good weekday lunch, but dinner isn't too bad either in terms of price for what you get. This is not the place to bring a date because it is pure chaos. They don't really do reservations. I was glad I looked up the yelp reviews so I found out that even if you add yourself to the waitlist on yelp, you still have to check in inside when you get there and that's the only time they would really officially consider you in the queue. This place is always super busy, but I think it's worth it. Kids get measured by height to determine the price they will get charged.
