They are very warm and welcoming and super attentive !! The worship always ministers to my soul as well. You can tell all the singers are just filled with the love of Jesus and you can see the love for people and Jesus emanating from all the speakers. May this church be overflowing with blessings and abundance. May the Lord continue to work here as they are definitely living up to their motto as it really does feel like a piece of Heaven on earth here.

As much as their branding is inclusive, if you are any amount of queer sympathetic (believing they are God loved) this community will try to convince you those are quiet inside thoughts & sinful ones at that. If you are queer & progressive this is NOT the church for you.

I can truly say it has made a lasting impact. This church played a critical role in my youth by setting up the my foundation for my faith. Highly recommend this church. They preach the word here straight out of the Bible, nothing added. Jesus and his death for us as the main message and that we are truly loved by God. This is clear here and I love that it's not a sugar coated message that fits society, but what is written in the bible. God loves us. I attended with a close friend a few years ago, and while we were there, we became friends with another girl and naturally formed a close circle. We were always kind and acknowledged the other girls who attended, but when we tried to engage in conversation, it was often met with awkwardness or little effort in return. Despite that, the pastor's wife referred to us as "bitchy" and "cliquey," along with making other unkind comments toward us. I found the way the situation was handled to be extremely unprofessional and inappropriate, especially coming from someone in a leadership position within the church. I understand that others may have had positive experiences here, but unfortunately, this interaction left me with a very negative impression of the environment.

When we're home we tune into the live service on Facebook every Sunday, and we've done all of their online studies. I've even had the privilege of attending a women's retreat. Without hesitation I believe that their main goal is to share the good news of Jesus. Josh, the pastor, is easily one of the most well-read and knowledgeable teachers I've ever come across. He has an incredible gift for taking deep, complex theological concepts and explaining them in a way that is clear, practical, and easy to understand. His book, Stumbling Toward Eternity, had a profound and lasting impact on me and am using it as a study guide now. We also deeply appreciate the worship music. It's authentic, grounded, and refreshingly devoid of showmanship...no glass drum boxes here, just simple, powerful songs focused entirely on meeting with Jesus and worshipping Him. Door of Hope and Josh's teaching have played a massive role in growing our understanding of the Word and deepening our faith. We highly recommend this church to anyone seeking sound, truth-centered teaching.

Those were the words that Josh the pastor said to us from ON STAGE in front of everyone during his sermon as my wife and I were trying to calm down our crying baby (go watch the livestream - it's recorded). Our daughter was crying for about 5-10 seconds and we were trying to figure out how to get out from the middle of our pew to take her outside, but Josh's comment was completely embarrassing and unacceptable. Jesus said "let the children come to me." Door of Hope said "your kids are too much". Very unfortunate.

I'm home ill today, but I know my fellow choir members are working together to support the children's service that happens every fifth Sunday. The choir is stellar and the whole music program is superb! The Rosales organ is so beautiful and such an amazing instrument. The Dean and all the clergy are truly welcoming and make themselves very available to all congregants. Sunday sermons are always thought provoking and interesting. They have been a great help throughout the pandemic in helping people to carry on. The outreach ministries are a very important part of who the Cathedral is in the community. Food Pantry and other food provisions made available to the less fortunate are wonderful examples of "faith and love" working to help our neighbours. I first went to Trinity because it was the closest Episcopal church to me when I first moved to Portland and I am delighted it has become my church home. I couldn't have found a better fit for me. Imagine you're sitting in the congregation with your 4 year old son. Its his first service and you…read morewant him to learn to appreciate church. Lately he's been cursing, using the F word and such and you're trying to get him to stop. "It's not right to use those words" you keep telling him. Imagine then the priest gets up to the podium for his sermon. All of the sudden he starts dropping bombs. You're shocked, you start feeling uncomfortable next to your son, but you stay because you think maybe he'll stop and maybe there is a point. But they don't stop. They just keep coming. You look down at your son feeling helpless. Obviously you don't want him getting the message that men who are supposed to be spiritual leaders speak this way. But there's more when the sermon ends the congregation applauds, even whoops. I've never been in any church service where people applauded ANYTHING, and there's a spiritual reason for that. Well that's what happened to me when I attended a service here. Awful. As people applauded I got up with my son and left feeling very disappointed that that was his first introduction to church. A priest who shows no respect for the tender ones who may be in his audience. A priest who speaks with crude language and is more interested in showing off and writing a nice piece than in passing along anything spiritual. Sadly we will never be back again. This happened many months ago, but I have been meaning to write a review since then because it has stuck so sharply in my mind.
