They have daily "Moves" classes with 30 minutes of movement followed by body rotations and some pole work. Restrooms are well kept, much like the entirety of their space. They have a handwritten chalk board calendar as well with lot of updates and happenings. Parking isn't the most ideal directly in the lot or the area, but semi central to a lot near the marina and beach areas. Full space rentals for a flat rate and minimum of 4hrs. Cool community events happen here as well like their Pre Burn Bazaar ( $10 entry or bring clothes to trade). Open from 630AM til 8pm during the week, reduced hours on weekends.

Parking was $15 for the entire day. We rented a canopy for 4 hours for $60. They are permanently set up pretty far from the shore, but it was really nice to have a big, shaded area for an affordable price (though I think the advertised capacity of 30 people would be pretty tight). Though the pool would've normally been closed for the season, it was super hot, so they did a pop-up day. Passes are very reasonably priced -- $10 for adults, $4 for kids under 17, $5-$7 for seniors (NOTE: You must have your entire party with you when you buy wristbands--you cannot buy them for someone not present). The pool was pretty full for the time we were there, but there was still plenty of room for the kids to play. There were also plenty of lounge chairs around. There's also a little restaurant that's basically right on the beach. Prices trend on the higher side for the fare that's offered, but it's not outrageous. All of the facilities and the stretch of beach were super clean and well organized, and the staff was very kind and accommodating.

I was sorely disappointed when I attended this week, (one other person was also new). The women talked among themselves, no topic was brought up and it seemed like a free for all. I wasn't even sure who was in charge. One person kept commenting about a birthday card she brought that opened up to a tree or something like that. Little did she know those kinds of cards have been available for at least 10 years. I waited 10 to 15 minutes and then had to leave. New people were ignored and everyone just talked to their friends. It was a complete waste of time snd not a friendly atmosphere for a newcomer.

I finally had a chance to visit for a Tarzana Music Night last week. What a fun event! Because the weather was being forecasted to be cool with the potential of rain, the event was held indoors. Things were comfortable, but we were in close quarters with the other attendees. The sound was great and the performances were a lot of fun. I was primarily there to see a good friend perform, but I also had the chance to see some other talented musicians. I think each one was a singer songwriter, and I enjoyed each performance. Each one of the people that was working at the venue, which I imagine may have been on a volunteer basis, was friendly and a lot of fun. Normally the music nights are held outdoors, and I can imagine that most of the year, it is a lot of fun being in the open air.

The students are able to interact with children their age and get help from educated college students and adults with their homework! Children there also have access to Mar Vista's computer lab--a room filled with computers, so students who do not own computer's are able to do their research or simply browse if they'd like. Each classroom is separated by age and educational levels. I visited their high school level room and I learned that the students receive help with financial aid applications for college and college applications/questions in general! that is awesome if ya ask me! I've been ClassPass-ing my way around the USA trying virtual meditation and yoga classes. I was immediately intrigued by InsightLA. Not only is it a non-profit, but they currently have multiple virtual classes a day. I attended Walking the Buddha's Path Together: Clear Wisdom for Modern Times with Lisa and had a 6-star experience. The communication was timely and I had zero issues logging on. They were so organized. Even from about 3,000 miles away, this was one of the best meditation classes I've ever taken. I resonated immediately with instructor Lisa. She made me feel welcome and I felt like I've known her my entire life. I could sense the deep connection in their community, mostly because I've never done a virtual class like this where almost all participants had their cameras on and were actively engaged. I loved that Lisa didn't just read something out of a book, but rather created an original lesson based on her extensive knowledge of meditation and the Buddha's teachings. I donated immediately after and will be back several more times through this pandemic!
