California Sisig Burrito
Maggie W.

Came here with my friend after she swore by the California burrito in this place, and it did not disappoint. Filipino-Mexican cuisine just goes so well together! The Cali burrito had an amazing amount of avocado inside it, and the texture of the pork sisig was also perfect. I would recommend to definitely get a bottle of water or some beverage, because this was very salty! The ube macapuno churro bites were also yummy and the perfect sweet treat. The churro bites have a great texture to them- the outside being golden brown and lightly crisped and the inside being fluffy and warm. I would love to revisit another time, this is a great option for anyone looking to dine in the Ferry Building.

Stumbled upon this place as I was walking through the Ferry Building looking for a snack. I opted for the California Sisig Burrito with pork as I was really drawn to the French fries. I took my burrito and sat outside - they have a couple tables overlooking the bay bridge. I don't usually eat burritos so this was definitely a treat for me. The French fries were a great touch to the meal and weren't soggy. The burrito itself was amazing and super filling. It was so tasty and the pork Sisig was flavorful. I will definitely be back again!

Happened to stop by the Ferry Building and asked the mister what he wanted to eat. He said Señor Sisig. It's been a minute since I've had anything from them so I said, "okay!" I had my eyes on the tacos and he went for the adobo burrito. Even though it was busy, the line moved quick and so did the food. Verdict? I liked my taco, but the adobo burrito was just okay. The mister ended up liking my tacos better, lol. I usually stick with the tocino burrito or the sisig fries, but today I felt like trying something new.

Have you ever had to slurp a burrito? Dropped by Tuesday ~12:10 pm for impromptu lunch. The wait was about 25-30 minutes for two items, which was typical for lunch at the Ferry Building during peak hours. What we got: - Mission Sisig burrito with tocino ~ THIS. I'm not a bean person, and I totally forgot to say no beans, but I'm in love with this burrito. Grilled on the outside to a perfect crunch, saucy on the inside to the point of slurping each bite. The sweet, savory tocino paired well with its guac and salsa interior. It was so good, I barely noticed the beans. Each bite lulled me in for more! The burrito was $20, but given the volume and size of the burrito, it seemed pretty decent. Ordered medium spice, but the spice was barely noticeable. Was a struggle, but had to stop myself from finishing the entire burrito, or I'll be met with a food coma. - Sisig crunch-a-dilla with tocino ~ The crunchwrap dupe! Served with a side of queso and some jalapeños, this was slightly disappointing. Despite eating it within 5 minutes of receiving our order, the crunchwrap wasn't crunchy. The interior crunch layer had absorbed a lot, making it soggy. Compared to the burrito, the exterior of the crunch wrap wasn't as grilled. Didn't texturally satisfy my crunch cravings. First time coming here, and the burrito lived up to the hype I've been hearing about this place. Will return to try their other burritos! Curious about the adobo rice included in the burrito!

I was hanging in the City for SB fandom. I wound up in the Ferry building area and decided to grab a quick bite before I headed over to the Moscone for the experience. I had been to the one at Oakland Downtown area., but not this location on the water in the Ferry building. I had ordered the Crunch wrap type with Chicken and had cheese sauce on the side. I was tempted to get the Ube Horchata, but opted for a beer I had bought next door. The place had a huge line but I was not really in a busy rush. I had even left and came back in 10 minutes and then hung out on a patio table with a view on the water with a balmy 71 degree day. Their food portion was Ginormous and I wound up taking 1/2 of it to go. The place is consistent with their food and also very friendly and fast service.

It super busy on a Saturday because of the farmers market. I usually just go in and order but decided to order ahead on Uber eats. Never knew I could get a side of spiced vinegar. The vinegar brought it to another level. So delicious!

THE BIG: This location is inside the Ferry Building with indoor and outdoor seating. Great views of the Bay. Street parking is hard to find, better to take a rideshare here. THE BLACK AND WHITE: When we were walking inside the Ferry Building, this restaurant showed up and we were intrigued. Also because my wife is Filipino and we heard good things about Senor Sisig. My wife just got a tocino taco that took a bit of time (weird for a fast casual place). The restaurant didn't seem that busy, so I didn't understand why it took so long. Taste-wise, very delicious but also kinda spendy for what we got. THE FINAL BAMBOO: The single tocino taco set us back around $8. Pretty pricey for one taco but maybe we ordered the wrong thing. Regardless Filipino flavors were there and had a great view of the bay.

Service was fast and efficient. Limited table seating outside, but a beautiful view. They have wings, burritos, salad, and children's plates. Burritos average $20.

I came here for lunch on a Friday and my experience here was good. My group ordered a DoorDash pickup from here which was pretty easy and seamless. For food, I got the Tosilog Burrito and it was generally good. The tortilla and the components inside were moist, but not soggy and the burrito was put well together. Nothing was falling apart which I liked. The meat was tender and succulent, but I wish it was sweeter which is more traditional for tocino meat. The best part for me was the garlic rice which had great garlic flavor. I ordered it at medium heat which was perfect for me. I also liked the side of habanero sauce which added spice and tanginess. For the drink, I ordered the Ube Horchata and it was alright. It tasted like a solid horchata to me, but I couldn't really taste the ube. It was more cinnamon flavor. I also wasn't the biggest fan of how grainy it was and the grainy parts were also pooled at the bottom of the drink bottle which I didn't like. I liked the outdoor seating area near the water which was a nice spot to enjoy my meal with the ocean breeze. Overall, this was a good spot for a casual lunch, but I think the food quality can be improved.

Food looks good but flavoring seems overly salted or sweetened. The chicken wing is crispy, but so salty!! There were so much salts that we had to wipe off the excess salt solids from the chicken wing, hoping to make it taste better and not die from thirst.... The Pandan tea was also way too sweet. I would avoid next time. I think the only average meal from this is the salad.

I remember first trying their sisig tacos and tocilog burrito from their food truck. It was around 15 years ago. The tocilog burrito was my go to everytime they were around. Then I tried their sisig fries maybe 8 years ago. Still the tocilog burrito was my favorite. My friend and I spent a day in SF. We were heading back home by ferry and decided to grab a snack before heading back. We decided on senior sisig. They had a few high tables inside and more tables right outside. There was a line of customers but it went by pretty fast. There was kiosks to order on which made it easy. We got an order of ube macapuno churros and two ube horchata. And of course, they didn't disappoint. Perfectly hit the sweet spot.

Came here on NYE and they were supervising open! I got the California Sisig burrito which was delicious. The sisig was flavorful and the fries crispy. The burrito is also a decent size as you can see by the hand comparison. Minus one star because you have to pay for each salsa/sauce and I felt like it wasn't filled up that much. It's inside the ferry building so there really isn't anywhere to sit except for a few high tables and chairs. I feel like this is more of a to-go type of place. You order on an iPad so not much to say about the service.

Our server was very attentive and checked on us throughout the meal. She even surprised us with a complimentary pineapple swirl at the end of dinner for my birthday, which was such a sweet touch! The restaurant is a vegetarian Filipino spot, which I thought was really cool, and overall the food was really good. My husband and I ordered the Pamilya Meal (small), and it was more than enough food for the two of us. It came with one small plate, one salad, two mains, and two sides - and the portions were huge. We ended up taking home leftovers! We ordered the lechon bites (my favorite!) and the veggie kofta. For the rest of the meal, we got the Cesario salad (pretty much a Caesar Salad), the mushroom sisig, and the bisteak dish. I thought everything was good and flavorful. It all tasted pretty traditional IMO. The only dish that threw me off a little was the mushroom sisig. I'm used to sisig being crispy (like traditional pork sisig), so the softer mushroom texture caught me by surprise. I should've known it wouldn't have that same crispy pork texture since it's mushroom-based but the flavoring itself was great - super tasty and well-seasoned! I'd love to come back with a big group so we could try the kamayan feast where they lay out the food with banana leaves!

She surprised me with a reservation at Ox + Tiger and I was immediately impressed. The restaurant only seats 8 people, making the whole experience super intimate and personal. When Japanese and Filipino flavors come together, you get such a unique fusion cuisine inspired by chef couple Ej and Hatomi. Dinner was more than just a meal it was a 2 to 2.5 hour storytelling experience about their menu creations, how they met, and the grind behind keeping their dream alive. The menu changes monthly, so even if I told you what we had, you probably wouldn't get the same dishes unless you book now lol. It's a 3-course menu with optional add-ons, and definitely unlike any restaurant I've been to before. As a Filipino, I'll admit I can be picky with Filipino-inspired food because we grow up spoiled by our parents' cooking but this? I was genuinely impressed. Situated in a small, 8 seat counter, dinner is intimate with dishes being prepared right in front of you. The menu features three courses, an appetizer, main, and a dessert - with the option for an additional add-on. Our meal featured a focus on fish, in particular mackerel and monkfish. Each of the dishes were deconstructions of familiar concepts such as Caesar salad and a California roll, but enhanced with new flavors. The mackerel was sublime, perfectly charred exterior with a still raw interior. The monkfish was tender, coated in a ginger, wasabi sauce next to crispy sweet rice and avocado. The dessert was by far the most unique, being a miso dashi, mushroom cherry coated coconut ice cream with a tupig-like mochi on the side. The savory, sweet, sour combination completely catches you off guard but becomes increasingly addictive the more you eat. So bold and absolutely memorable. Ox&Tiger takes familiar concepts, breaks them apart, then fuses them back together with a flair of Filipino and Japanese flavors. This results in dishes that are utterly unique and innovative. Additionally, with menus and playlists designed by family, this truly feels like the epitome of a family-run business and a meal cooked with so much care in front of you. This is absolutely worth a visit and an opportunity to try new flavors you've never experienced before.
