First, the staff made sure to check that I was authorized to pick her up. Second, I noticed the cleanliness of the facility. Also, all the staff seemed to know my granddaughter by name. My daughter uses the parent portal & often shares photos with me which are periodically sent to her on a daily basis. She also shared a folder that was sent home showing progress, assignments & detailing learn goals, etc. The folder was filled with photos of my granddaughter participating in assignments & activities over a period of a few months. Each section of the folder contained handwritten notes about my granddaughter's progress and I was impressed with the fact that every note was positive. I really cannot think of one thing I do not like about this facility. I highly recommend it!

After that she was all in my business asking me about my father. And I was about to call my dad to handle her. But I remained calm and cool because I have the decency and maturity to forgive. And also I'm a Christian person who forgive people. Excuse my language. And I also went to two of my best friends high volleyball games. I wasn't able to go. They stopped me at the entrance. I am in my senior year right now. All this happened before the class of 2026 graduation ended. And thank the lord that none of friends would witness them treating special needs student like this. Although they have good academic success and sports. They don't have the right attitude to treat people with special needs or none special needs with kindness, compassion, respect, safe, loving, caring, respectful, and have the great attitude towards people with none special needs and or special needs. I will not be sending my siblings to this school to be treated the same as they treated me. My siblings have special needs. Everyone in my family not my parents have special needs and will not be sending my siblings there instead I will be sending them to White Bear Lake Area High School.

You can tell that a lot of staff members are there because they want to make a difference. However, my senior year was overshadowed by a serious incident involving a staff member, which was shocking and difficult for the student body to process. Experiencing that situation firsthand made the school feel less stable and less safe than it should have, and it changed the way many of us viewed the administration and the environment. So while Mounds View has strong academics and great teachers in many areas, that experience really complicated my overall impression of the school.

This place is great for children. The improvement in skills and motivation that I saw are incredible. Our girls had their occasional "off days" as young children often times do. Yet the overt frustration and impatience on behalf of the staff became more and more apparent with each subsequent week. The tipping point is when one of our girls instructors (who happened to be the owner) literally raised her voice in anger and threatened not just our daughter, but any child that did not meet expectations. Specifically, any child whose shoelaces weren't properly tied (I wish I were exaggerating) were scolded and told laces will be cut off with a scissors if the parents don't do it themselves. Our child never wanted to go back after that day and we immediately withdrew her from the remaining calendar year. What's heartbreaking is, as a parent, you trust particular people with the wellbeing of your child (we did our research, we talked to other parents, etc) and despite a seemingly safe and trusting environment, Curio proved to just the opposite.

We have been coming to the Blaine FOSS since our eldest daughter was 6 months old. Our daughter…read moreloves water and she developed some good skills at FOSS. She's 6 years old now. Facility is nice and employees are great, what's not so great is, the evaluation system. I understand it's some what subjective to who's doing the evaluation, but the general goal shouldn't be to maximize as much revenue as they possible can, rather considered your child's skills. It feels like the pass/repeat/fail all depends on how many kids they have registered and if they have available room or not, definitely your child's skill set isn't the primary factor. Exhibit A: our daughter tried North Wolf swimming club and passed with flying colors. She just wasn't used to the coach style learning and she was intimidated with coach yielding to other kids, she wasn't ready for that. We decided to continue with FOSS. They kept her in the same class for 3 consecutive seasons and the excuses were, she needs to work on her "breathing" or she needs to work on her hands! This is a girl that swamped the whole Olympic size swimming pool back and forth for her try out! Later we discovered they didn't have enough student registered for the next up session and the existing class is over capacity! Exhibit B: They placed a new student in their group, whom happens to be a girl my friend goes to school with. She never attended swimming lesson but she ended up in the same class as our daughter! Now you have kids with high varying degree in their skill sets and our daughter ends up not getting enough attention the instructor focuses more in monitoring others and helping others. I don't like singling out employee as they get the over arching theme instructions from the corner offices, but Alexander, floor manager, took it to the next level when I tried to approach her with our over all concerns! Her general responses was, "you telling me your concern doesn't change how we grade" paraphrased! So, this is our last session and we are taking our daughters to a different place where they can learn and excel!! PS: they charge us ~$250 per season. roughly we spend ~$750 to learn the same skill sets, the pattern has been repeat x3 per each session/season!

We've had a few headaches with the level progression. They wanted to hold my child back based on one thing he needs to work on. Then he's bored in the next session while the other kids look like beginners. I dislike that they level eval so early in the session. It seems like they don't want to pass anyone. So they get your child swimming? Yes. Its a headache sometimes that they aren't working specifically on what your child needs to work on. Frustrating. I wish they'd teach more endurance and how to tread water. They need more showers too. And as of today the pool is filthy. Like so dirty. Yuck! No wonder why my child keeps getting ear infections. Overall we continue to go as we have a pool at our House. He needs to learn to swim and nothing in the area compares.
