Simply Fabrics

Affordable materials and lots of opportunity for browsing can be found in this little den of…read morefabrics, along with its amusingly dry owner. If you're a beginner like me don't expect tons of help, you're more likely to be waved over to look for yourself and will have to figure out if the fabric you chose will work for the project you have in mind. For the well researched beginner and upwards, though, this place is a pleasant antidote to the lofty yuppiness of John Lewis and its brethren, and the market's just round the corner for a post-shopping snack.
I had passed this fabric shop many a time, but never gone in. It looked like hard work and for…read moreevery nice fabric you may have to search through 100 foul rolls to find it. I was mistaken, my usual fabric shop was shut so rather than a wasted journey, I went in to have a look. Half an hour later I had whittled my selection down to an arm full of jerseys several wools and a few tartans. They have a pretty big selection bearing in mind the size of the shop and the price is amazingly reasonable. Now I have no reason to buy fabric anywhere else. But do bear in mind once the stock is gone, its gone... so buy what you see.

Heaven in Henley. Open only on Mondays and a handful of other days (check the website), this…read morewarehouse store cum quilting club/classroom is a local treasure. The fabric alone is a visual feast: - any mom/mum of a young child should swing through here at least once to understand what a fabulous resource is near at hand - any craft-loving tourist with an hour to kill should walk the flat half-mile from town to pick up gorgeous stuff you just won't find at home - any new householder should swing by to find some decorating options that won't break the bank, while adding colo(u)r and flair And, for local quilters and sewers (or those who would-be) the knowledgeable, cheerful staff are so helpful with tips and solutions. They are also just plain accommodating and nice, while the ladies who come for the fortnightly quilters circles are just lovely.

The prices are great and if you are looking to buy a book I really would urge you to check The Works out first because everything is so cheaply priced. Their art supplies are also very good value for money and they stock different types of paints and canvases. The staff are nice, but not overly helpful and the store is small and can get quite crowded but don't let this put you off, it is a good cheap place.

The prices are excellent, much cheaper than other book stores, and they always have a good choice of stock. They also sell a great range of crafting material for you to be able to make your own cards. This shop was really busy in the run up to Christmas - they must be doing something right! Every time I have shopped at this branch of The Works, staff have been friendly and always willing to help.

To top that, they have an Olan Mills photograhers in store too. They offer a car seat fitting service from staff trained in car seat safety. I have found that you often have to wait a while before someone is available to help with car seat fitting because it tends to get busy, which is a bit annoying. They offer a bra fitting service for Mums too. They have customer toilets in store, as well as a feeding & changing room, which is always handy when you have a baby. I'm not the biggest fan of the mothercare clothing range - it's pretty expensive & I don't think it's that nice. To sum up, I'd say it's pretty handy to have a big Mothercare like this close by. It's worth a visit if you are having a baby.

There's ample free parking right outside the store so there's no worries there for drivers. The store is quite a good size and there's a moderate range of stock in store. The tills are usually well manned which is handy for those who don't like to be kept waiting. The range of goods is a bit limited in comparison to the size of the store I think. I was very surprised to find such a limited range of toilet training products when I came in here looking for a potty chair and a toilet training seat not so long ago. I could only find a potty chair and it was £14.99 which is a bit steep really, there were no toilet training seats - even Tesco have those and they're not a Mum and Baby store! The prices are quite high across the board and while I don't mind paying for quality on some items, on others I feel the prices aren't justified.
