While the Grand Bazaar offers manufactured run-of -the-mill lamps that lack quality and creativity coming to KarlikTuristik will give you craftsmanship that is worth a drive out of the Sultan Ahmet area of Istanbul. From the moment we drove to the shop, Omer came outside and provided a parking space. We were warmly greeted by the two brothers Omer and Halil. Omer speaks English which was very helpful. In traditional Turkish hospitality you are offered something to drink while getting a brief history on the various lamp making techniques. Since this is their family owned lamp factory you have the option of customizing your lamp and lamp shades. We opted to customize a handmade copper table lamp made by Halil as we requested to make it slightly taller and it only took an additional 30 minutes and we were able to leave with our new table lamp. We went in thinking we wanted one type of lamp but opted for the handmade copper lamp. They ship worldwide and will accommodate charges to your countries electrical needs. I can't recommend this store as your one stop shop to purchase your dream lamp in a family atmosphere. The shop owner and his brother are so kind and showed us how they hand make their lamps. They had so many different kinds and colors and would change shades out so we could see even more combinations. They also had numerous volts/cords and so we were able to purchase one that worked in our home country. We were so impressed. We ended up purchasing three lamps, which were much higher quality and much less expensive than what we had found elsewhere. I would recommend this place to everyone if you are looking for a mosaic lamp.
