Sevilla has been on my short bucket list for the last 10-15 years... ever since I saw a feature article on thIs city in Spain. Was initially disappointed that Puente Delgada, Portugal got removed from our ports of call off our cruise due to inclement weather. Then was excited beyond measure when Cadiz/neighboring Sevilla was added in as replacement! Wow, amazing... I get to visit the ONLY place on my bucket list in Spain... by sheer accident!
Sevilla, of the 5 cities visited in Spain thus far, was probably my favorite. The palaces, visitor spots, government buildings all so memorable. The beauty and cleanliness rarely seen in big cities like this one. Sevilla known as the gateway to the Spanish Empire, holds an important place in Spanish history also. It was the former capitol of Andalusia and as such has become a cultural centre for the country. Moorish as well as Roman influences in their architecture can be seen in their cathedrals and palaces, government buildings and other visitor attractions. Picturesque orange trees adorn the city. Sevilla boasts the largest cathedral/basilica in Spain, even larger b than the Sagrada Famalia in Barcelona; and it was huge! Known also for Flamenco dancing and bull fighting,
So much to see. Would love to return and experience more of this beautiful destination..! read more
