Last night, March 3rd, 2011, my wife, Jeanette, and I attended a fantastic concert at Seven Steps Up in Spring Lake, Michigan. The event was hosted by Gary and Michelle Hanks and featured Alice Peacock. Alice was accompanied by Danny Myrick who performed well despite having recently fractured his right elbow. This intimate setting was perfect for 110 guests to enjoy a terrific concert in an historic building that has been meticulously restored and has wonderful acoustics. This past weekend I co-hosted a surprise 50th birthday party for a really great friend. By all accounts it was a HUGE success due, in part to the great venue. I put in countless hours in planning, sceming, cooking and brainstorming to make sure everything was perfect. All the work in the world, however, can't put the icing on the cake the way Seven Steps Up did. The event center is gorgeous.. exposed brick walls, great lighting, original wood floors, rich wood like you rarely see any more. Gary and Michelle kept their fingers on the pulse of the party and kept me on track as a trying-not-to look-frazzled hostess. I think we ended up with around 80 people there to celebrate with us. If I ever come off my successful- party high and plan another event, I wouldn't even consider having it anywhere else. If I'm going to put that much work into getting things perfect, I want my venue to be perfect as well. Thank you Seven Steps Up!!! read more
