Drinks were great - the HH red was a Tempranillo which always satisfies and Jonathan concocted a lovely Negroni Bianca. However, last night I was very disappointed in the clam and the sweet fennel sausage pizza that we ordered. They were both extremely salty, almost to the point that they were inedible. Also there were quite a bit of broken clam shells in the pizza. We did raise our concern about the broken shells with our server and he did offer to remake it but we said it's ok. What happened to Tom Douglas' high standards to quality? I've consistently visited his other restaurants but nothing as poor as Serious Pie. Okay here's how long it's been since I went to Serious Pie: they were still located in South Lake Union and were called Serious Pie & Biscuit. So when I was invited for dinner recently at Serious Pie in Seattle, I headed straight for SLU. Oops, they're no longer there! Instead, they've moved to the former Dahlia Lounge location on 4th Ave. Okay, so I was a few minutes late for dinner. Other than this geographical mixup (which was entirely my fault), my experience at Serious Pie was flawless and magical! First things first, yes the pizzas here are a little more pricey than other places, but (considering I paid over $35 for a large pizza recently) not THAT much more expensive. And they truly (some might say, SERIOUSLY) do an amazing job here. Their toppings are interesting and innovative, their crust divine and perfectly fired. Our pizza featured roast pear, house pancetta, caramelized onion, goat cheese, and hot honey. As the server described it, my mouth started watering. He described it as a more innovative take on the "sweet and salty" mouthfeel of your typical Hawaiian-style pizza. And he wasn't wrong. This thing was DELISH. We also shared a chopped salad, which was the perfect precursor to the pizza. And, of course, a couple of beers to wash it all down. Sadly, we were too full for dessert, since Dahlia Bakery shares the SP space and all sorts of scrumptious, sweet concoctions were available to order. Next time, next time. I honestly believe that I may've liked Serious Pie had I not had pizza from Lupo just the night before. While I didn't hate my pizza, when I compare it to Lupo (as well as other pizza places I've been to) Serious Pie serves up pizza that's just "A-Ok" in my honest opinion. Some positives about Serious Pie are that I love the inside of this location it's very spacious and clean, and even has Dahlia Bakery attached where you can order desserts from after enjoying some pizza if you're dining in. The service was also very friendly. Unfortunately, after trying three different pizzas as well as a slice of coconut cream pie, there wasn't anything that made my taste buds go "I HAVE to HAVE this a second time." I will say that Serious Pie has a great reputation and a lot of fans. That's what drew me to visit them during my trip to Seattle. Just because they don't personally serve up my favorite pizza doesn't mean they won't serve up yours. I encourage you to give them a try for yourself. read more

Our waiter had to be the most boring... could barely even hear. Ordered the Yukon potato pizza and the plain cheese+pep (for comparing with other pizza places). For the price, I'd expect much more - our whole tab with a pitcher neared 100$. Absolutely outrageous. Pizza wasn't bad, but nothing to write home about. The pizza sauce on the plain cheese was tangy, which I prefer. The Yukon potato pizza wasn't bad, but was lacking bite of some sort. Tasted super plain. The crust was a solid 6/10, with points missing because the chefs were unable to get a repeatable char (one was a little burned). The restaurant is nice, dimly lit. Restrooms were clean, but needed a code to enter - a minor inconvenience of city life. Overall, 6/10. Wasn't terrible, but wouldn't go out of my way to eat at. read more

Visited Seattle for the first time and had to try out some of the most popular restaurants Seattle has to offer and Serious Pie kept popping up as must-try. And the people were not wrong! I love the flavor profiles of all of the pizzas here that I had such a hard time picking what to order. I ultimately ordered the pizza with sweet fennel sausage, roasted peppers and provolone. And it was so good!!! Seriously. I loved how the pizza was simple in its ingredients but everything meshed so well together. I also loved the thinner crust because the crust had a nice crispy texture to it which is just the way I like it. I ordered take out from here and the takeout process was so smooth- my pizza ended up being finished sooner than I was told so didn't have to wait long at all. After years of giving it 4-star, I am upgrading it to 5 for the best happy hours deal. Of course you come for the pizzas. If you haven't had it before, this is a must-try. The general problem with Pizza is the portion. It's hard to have many unless you bring a large group. That's the best part of its happy hours during which they offer half-sized pizza, not offered at other time. Since the remodeling, they have full bar with wonderful beer selections -- went very well with their pizzas. Since they are now integrated with Dahlia Bakery, you can get a slice of the Coconut Cream Pie, even when the bakery is closed. This is now a full-spectrum specialty restaurant.
