They immediately called us and said that they were increasing their service and RN Theresa and Michelle were there for us. SW - Gwen came by to make sure Mom and the family had the necessary support we needed during this trying time. Nurse Aide Leanna came by to give Mom her very much comforting sponge bath. And of course RN Devon made the necessary trek here even in inclement weather. Their services and care are not the standard run of the mill, 8a to 4p hours. Each one of them made the added effort to insure we didn't get lost and fall between the cracks. They were definitely working as a team. Their agency wasn't only saying it as a sales pitch but were truly doing it. They weren't only talking it, they were walking it. I have worked in State government for 33 years and after retiring, worked for 10 years with two non-profit agencies, so believe me when I say, you don't have to look any further, Gentiva Hospice Care is the real McCoy. I know that God's got their backs because they have Mom and our backs. She received her Last Rites and will be transitioning soon. We have no regrets having shared our last moments with Mom with this awesome Care Team from Gentiva.

The staff at Holistic Care was more than we could have prayed for. From the minute we met them, we…read moreknew they were legit and cared very deeply about their patients and the work they do. This home was for my father, and it was our 4th attempt at finding somewhere that would meet the standards of care we had for him. The home itself is inviting and welcoming with a large backyard where we could sit in the sun with my dad and a very safe neighborhood to go for walks in as well. The food quality was far and above any other home and they made each of the meals themselves. It always felt more like a family than someone taking care of my dad. Jamie, Leo and Amanda were incredible with my dad and I always felt so peaceful knowing he was being well cared for, never being left unattended or neglected. The kindness they all showed not only to my dad in their everyday interactions with him, but also to my mom, sister and I as we went through the painful process of watching him die, was amazing. At the very end of his life, he didn't wake or eat for 7 days, and if there was a moment we weren't by his side, they were right there. Jamie personally stayed with him through the nights singing to him and holding his hand. I can't describe the peace we felt knowing that while we went home to try to rest to regain strength, he was never alone. Jamie, Val and their staff operate with the utmost integrity, kindness and love for everyone who walks through their door-both the patients and the family. Losing my dad was the hardest thing we've ever gone through, and having him get the best care possible made that journey just a bit more bearable. I would recommend this home to anyone seeking excellent care for their loved ones. Kylee

It's difficult making life decisions for another, so I was pretty nervous about the whole thing, but Jamie and Val have proven to be absolutely wonderful. Not only have they taken great care of my mom, but they've helped her so much with her rehab. My mom has worked with a variety of therapists all of whom have made a point of letting me know that Jamie and Valer run one of the best homes they've seen. I feel very fortunate to have found them.

I was able o get in touch with the sweetest, most comforting & knowledgeable on-call hospice nurse I've ever come across at 10:30pm! Her name, I think, was Sonia. As comforting as our conversation was it was also educational. She reassured me that picking a hospice is like buying a car. If you don't like it you move on to the next until you find one to suit your needs. She empowered me & encouraged me--SO wasn't expecting it to be such an uplifting call. I can tell with this short encounter that my grandfather will be in the hands of some amazing & smart angel nurses & loving care I doubt I could find anywhere else. My grandpa also is not English speaking & she told me they have some nurses available that do speak our language & are familiar with our culture. I wish she could be my personal nurse every day to speak encouraging things to me every day! We haven't even entered with their program & I love it it already. Before searching anywhere else for hospice--coming from an anxious & worried granddaughter-- please give Comfort Hospice a call first. They literally answer your call at ungodly hours like I called & they don't even mind.

My brother-in-law has stage four lung and bone cancer caused by exposure to agent orange during the Viet Nam war. He is spending his last days at home, being cared for by my sister. We originality hired a different hospice care company, but after several serious mistakes they admitted they were too short-handed to do the job, so we switched to Seasons after their saleswoman assured us they would continue with the same meds and oxygen equipment he had with the first company. First thing, My BIL is on an oxygen generator twenty-four hours a day. with a large emergency bottle in case of power failure.Seasons did not bring out the large bottle of oxygen, which had been provided by the first company. When contacted, the Seasons supervisor said that Medicare would not pay for the emergency bottle under their contract, and that if we were worried about him suffocating during a power failure, it was up to us to buy a gas powered electric generator. When told that the saleswoman had promised that Seasons would provide all that the previous company had, the supervisor said, "We'll have a talk with her..." Next...my BIL has been on two Lidocaine pain patches a day for some time. When we tried to order them, we were told Seasons does not provide them under their 'formulary.'(?) When we pointed out that the saleswoman had promised two a day, we were told that they would have a talk with her, but that we would have to purchase them ourselves. My BIL needs to cath six times a day, and, after trying a number of types of catheters, found one type that was easiest to use. When we asked Seasons for them, we were told the type he had been using were too expensive, and if he needs them we'll have to buy them ourselves, and that the sales woman should not have told us Seasons would provide them, but that they would have a talk with her... The main excuse Seasons gives us for all the problems is that each hospice company has its own individual contract with Medicare, and that they will only provide services, equipment, and medications that fall within their contract. For us, its a guessing game. We'd switch to another provider, but our luck doing that has been so bad that we're afraid to try it again. And to be quite honest, at this most horrible and trying time in our lives, they've managed to wear us down. If you're considering hospice care for a loved one, MAKE SURE YOU GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING, or better yet, tape-record the salesperson's initial pitch. And if you are considering Seasons, just remember that to them you are not a family in need of care, but a dollar sign.
