I loove sephora and usually when I walk into one, the employees are always really friendly and greet me and ask if I need help, but Sephora in Walnut Creek is nothing like that. Most Sephoras are great to shop at. Friendly sales people that are normally very helpful in making the best purchases. Not this place. They had a greeter that did nothing, but greet. A couple sales people that would help only certain people. I had to literally confront one of them to get any help. Such snotty people. On the other hand, they had some unique cosmetics that are great for gift giving and you can't find those just anywhere. The wait for checkout wasn't bad. Only about a 5 minute wait so overall a great location if it weren't for the sales people. If you are looking for interesting self care items or cosmetics and know what you want, this place is perfect. If you have questions or need help, you have to be kind of aggressive in getting help otherwise you'll just stand there aimless looking for someone to help you out. read more

Bewildered by the makeup, skin care, and fragrance options? The sales associates are available if you have questions and are never too pushy. Have your Beauty Rewards card handy because your can redeem your points and receive samples! Since I didn't have my card, your account by looked up by your email or the SA wrote the store's info on my receipt so during my next visit they can add my points to my BR card. If you shop on the weekend, plan to be patient and able to dip and weave through the narrow lanes and other customers. I've always had positive experiences shopping at this Sephora. read more

I agree that the customer service at this this Sephora blows. I went in today to get some Carol's Daughter shampoo and conditioner. Four (4!!!!!) sales associates walked past me without speaking. This past weekend I went into the Sephora store in WC. I love sephora but I normally only order online. I had done some research about foundation on their website and read a bunch of reviews. I went into the store and knew what I wanted but had to be matched up with a color. I was instantly bombarded by 3 sales associates within seconds. I eventually went to the area where I needed to be and tried to match foundation myself. Another sales associate came over and asked if I need help at this point I told her that I just needed to be matched to a color. This girl was really sweet and not pushy. She matched me to a great shade. Then all of a sudden from left field comes another associate and asked me why I wanted to go with the foundation I had chosen. I told her that I had read some great reviews of this product and I have acne prone skin and this was an oil free foundation(which my derm has recommended). The second associate said she had a foundation that was $15.00 cheaper and was amazing for acne prone skin-and also oil free. I told her that I was pretty happy with the original foundation I had come for, but she told me to just try it on half of my face. I must admit that I loved the look of this new foundation. After asking her again if it was oil free she said she was positive. So I bought the foundation. I got home later that night and stared researching this foundation. And in fact this foundation is not oil free and has many pore clogging ingredients. I am super annoyed that I got suckered by a pushy sales girl, and also that I was given totally false info. I contacted the company of the foundation I bought and they said that this foundation should never be recommended for anyone with acne prone skin and does contain soybean oil. Now I have to go on my lunch break in the middle of the Christmas season to return this. And all of you who know WC know that's a nightmare. I gave one star because the first girl was really helpful and not pushy. Unless you need to be matched with a color, order online. There customer service is awesome online. read more

Sure they have tons of choices for anything you may want or need when it comes to beauty...BUT their staff is ineffective, lazy and their customer service skills are in need of some SERIOUS help. I could not believe my two encounters today with two separate employees. I asked if one gal could help me locate a powder, she came over and said, "we don't have it, sorry" and walked away. No she didn't mean it when she said "sorry" she meant "don't bother me with your questions, I only work here and get paid to sell items we carry". Onto employee #2, I ask her if she can help me and she says without even bothering to look at me "hang on darlin, I'm fixing this sign real quick but I'm not working, I'm off". No one bothers to say, "I'm so sorry we don't have that product but we do have XYZ or.... I'm not sure about that product, let me get someone to help you since you area a CUSTOMER" I'm never coming back...I can get all the crap they have either online someplace else or at Nordstrom or Macys where the customer service is much better. read more

She was super sweet, she came and asked me what I wanted, etc. I told her about my skin type and what I wanted to learn to do. She was super sweet and able to accommodate me for what I wanted. Customer service was horrible, no one asked to assist me.. was ignored and finally when I was asked...(an hour later) Of course they were out of stock so I asked if they had anything similar to the one they were out of and the guy that that kinda helped, if that's what you call help... Pleasanton called to verify they had an item. Placed it on hold. Came in and they didn't have it. The idiots who work there have no clue of anything. This review is for Jensecca and the rest of the staff at Sephora that accommodated me for a mistake that occurred with the scheduling of their beauty class. I arrived at 9am today for a winged eyeliner beauty class at Sephora. Turns out the class is on Sundays and the online scheduling system made a mistake. Jensecca said she would demo the class for me and teach me some tips and tricks for winged eyeliner even though the class was scheduling for the next day. She took me in before the store opened when she could have easily been prepping for all of her beauty appointments. We spent about 30 minutes going over the different applications of winged liner. I am pretty competent when it comes to makeup and products to use, I was just never able to get the hang of getting that perfect swoop. Jensecca was extremely helpful and sweet and also packed me a mini goodie bag for the scheduling error. I had scheduled this class as part of something to do for myself for my birthday weekend. I've never had the best experience at a Sephora but because of the awesome customer service I received today I will continue to be a repeat customer. read more

I had to put my arm over my mouth and nose in order to get past the front door - the overwhelming smell of perfumes nearly gave me a migraine. I walked through the entire store twice, until I had to ask a cashier for help. At the time, it was not busy, several employees were standing in the aisles chatting with each other as I walked by them. I still can't understand how they did not notice me - I'm hard to miss. I love Sephora products, tried to spend my money in town, but will by it online from now on. I can't imagine why these smaller retail stores don't get it, and start hiring BETTER employees. Went to this location dressed up all frumpy in my workout clothes and typically I get the cold shoulder at this particular store whenever I go in like that but I was surprised to receive extraordinarily great service from Elizabeth she's a red head who no matter how many questions I had she helped me with a smile. I work in the area so I wander in here on my lunch. It's hit or miss with the kind of service I get. I love make up. I spent a lot of money in Sephora (as my beau can attest and detest). So, when I go in I expect to be treated well. Instead I often get hovered over like some kind of teeny bopper shop lifter. And other times, I don't get assisted until I personally hunt someone down. I prefer to go the Emeryville or Powell Street location. Their service is ALWAYS spot on and they have a much wider selection! read more

I tried to get a makeover done for a special event. I scheduled an appointment a few months ago and it somehow got changed to the wrong store. I understand that they were busy, but I didn't expect to be told that I would be called the day before my big event to see if they could "squeeze me in." I'm glad Nordstroms was more accommodating. I just wish I could switch the gift cards. I'd rather spend it at Nordstroms. UPDATE: I went to cancel my appointment in Emeryville and apparently it doesn't exist! I love Sephora and that it's pretty much my one stop shop for cosmetics. I do have to agree with some of the ladies on her, their customer service SUCKS. Honey, you're not working in Beverly Hills. You're working in Walnut Creek. Get over it! It is funny, that depending on my appearance, I might get some attention from an employee(s). With that being said though, there are some employees that are actually good with customer service, regardless how I look that day. This is a definitely a good sized Sephora. I've always been a fan of the store and I'm pretty sure I always will be. Granted some of the employees could be friendlier, but I have also had some very good customer service from other staff in this Sephora and I usually come in knowing what I want so the attitude of the workers have never really been an issue for me. read more

Went in to return a gosmile kit that I bought online and did not work well. I believe it was defective because I used it in the past and it worked much better. Because I paid for it with an e-gift card, the store's policy was to give store credit, but because they did not have another gosmile kit, they gave me a gift card because I wanted to order another online. Also, they don't normally take back products that are over 50% used (I used almost the whole thing before realizing it wasn't working right) but they did because I was dissatisfied. I love Sephora! If I won the lottery this would be one of my first stops. I just wish the store was in a better location, it's a little inconvenient if you are trying to just go there. I tend to get sucked in and start looking at items in other nearby stores that I can't afford...I need to improve my tunnel vision shopping. It is also a pretty small location, it can feel very crowded inside when it's busy. Every time I go in here, I am always asked if I need help with anything. They are so nice and most products that I have been recommended I have loved. Sephora can get really pricey, but I love that they offer a rewards system and you get points towards samples and free gifts on your birthday. Definitely a good place to shop for makeup. Horrible! Walked in and was looking at products. Was particularly looking for a foundation and a tinted primer. However could not look any further without the security guard following myself and my little sister for four isles and kept looking me and her up and down and at my purse. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life. I have bought numerous products from sephora, especially from this location as they were always so friendly. Nope not one more penny will go to them. Horrible services. I was in there less than 20 minutes I was so uncomfortable. If you want to be watched like a child please go to this store, it's perfect for you. I love all Sephora's but this one i come to the most because its the closet to where i live :) They do sell expensive makeup but to me its all worth it i love how they have so many different brands and their own too for a cheap price but the qaulity is not as good compared to the more expensive brand. They have this Beauty insider card for you to sign up for and if you shop often you collect points and get little rewards for them i like that not a lot of places do that :) Theres always someone there to help with your beauty questions and needs. I'm a junkie and spend waaaaaay too much at Sephora. Despite that, I had never had my makeup done here before! I booked an appointment because I had family photos and wanted to look my best. It turned out that the same day was the start of the VIB and VIB rouge 20% off event. (It was meant to be! Lol!) so it was crazy busy. Service is always hit and miss. Sometimes people ask if you need help, other times you get ignored. In fairness, customer service is really HARD. Some people like to shop in peace. When it was time for my appointment, Nicole was incredible! She's very talented and friendly. She did an amazing job! Instead of trying to sell me on all new products, we talked about what I already have at home and she showed me new ways to use my pallets! I really appreciated this a lot. Silver put on my false eyelashes, and wow!, I wish I could put those things on as perfectly. I walked out with my promotional Sephora tote, bracelet, and the Blow Dry Bar holiday dryer set at 20% off! There's rumor that this store might start carrying more Dry Bar products. I've had to mainly rely on online purchases, so I'm excited about this! If you need your makeup done, Nicole! Nicole! Nicole! She's the BEST!
