This shop is dense with valuable finds. I enjoyed indulging in my taste for vintage and the hostess, Frauke, is wonderful. Have a spontaneous party with her, like we did, and bring some prosecco. read more

Das neue schwarz is a beautiful and a chic vintage shop in Mitte. They have great labels such as…read moreYSL, Chanel and chloé, depending on what they find. It's pretty small, but that makes it even more special. When you go there, you need to ring the bell, go through a backyard, and then you see the shop. Hidden, like a little beautiful secret. The prices are pretty good, a friend of mine found these gorgeous Chloé boots for around 100 euros. They also have a great men section, accessories for both men and women and the staff is so sweet. If you're looking for that special thing that you won't find in a regular vintage shop, this is the place to go. It's must be every girls dream to find a treasure here!

A male model once recommended this thrift store to me for secondhand Barbour jackets, and well, I…read moretrusted his suggestion because he probably knew what he was doing in the sartorial department. You can buy a brand spanking new jacket at the Barbour store down the street for full price or a questionable scum-covered jacket from a Mauerpark vendor on Sundays. Or a reasonably priced (and clean enough) secondhard jacket from Made in Berlin that passes Barbour's official authenticity verification. One of my old college roommates had grown up in a very old money suburb in the Northeast and was completely aghast that I had purchased a Barbour jacket at a thrift store, saying that it went against the complete philosophy of Barbour jackets. But really, I was thrifting in one of the coolest and hippest cities in the world. Pigs would sooner fly before I could pass for a bonafide East Coast preppy WASP. Head to the lower level -- you'll find a rack or two of men's Barbour jackets and perhaps ten women's jackets, most of which are on the bigger side. Don't fret though, because they'll restock eventually. There are also a good number of Barbour lookalikes if you aren't terribly fussed about brands. All in all, Made in Berlin is a bit expensive for a secondhand store, but at least they take card?

We made a special trip here because of all the (apparently) fake reviews. The store opens at noon,…read morewe arrived at 12:50. The staff was "in the process" of getting out of bed, unbelievably nasty, hostile and refused to answer questions asked in fluent yet accented German. The questions? Are you open? Can we come in? Paul's Boutique is a great boutique! I mean, it is really-really good…read more But, more than simply a boutique and a place where you can get some nice vintage clothing and other items, this place is a guitar repair shop. Yes, a guitar repair shop. As a lifelong guitarist, I was very impressed by some of the truly unique vintage guitars they have hanging on their walls. Many of them come from the era of later 1960s and into the 1970s where there was a lot of guitar modifications going on. These guitars are an ideal example of that era. The great thing is, they have not been changed back to their original condition, as is commonly the case in the world of today. But, they have been allowed to keep the true uniqueness of the modification that were made. If nothing else, these guitars are a true nod to the history of the guitar and great pieces of wall-handing art. Of course, the guitars are just one small segment of what this shop has to offer. They also have tons of great clothing, and a little bit of everything else. Great place to shop!
