We are returning customers and had a good experience in the past, so we ordered take out food for our special occasion... and were disappointed. The sashimi surf clams and squid were not fresh ( no , it wasn't stinky or spoiled, just not fresh and therefore super chewy) , soft shell crab in the roll was bitter and dry ( either overcooked or the oil in the frier was old ) and the shrimp roll didn't taste good either. My husband said that the sesame chicken was "fine" and he also eat the vegetable lo main. Peking ravioli-- he was not crazy about but eat a couple . To be honest, i give these guys 3 starts only because when i called to say that they missed a dish i was charged for , they didn't argue and apparently knew about it , and said that it was a mistake. Another that made me weird was a tip added to my online order pick up order. Came here 4 years ago almost every day for lunch because of the Big Rick Roll. I currently live in California and eat sushi 3-5 times a week spending $30 per roll and always trying new stuff and over all the years this place and specifically Big Rick Roll is by far the best I've ever had. I don't think these reviews about "overpriced" are accurate in anyway and if you think this is expensive come out to Cali then you'll figure out what expensive really is. Overall 5/5 place! This place gets 5+++ Stars for having the Worst Value in all of North Shore. I ordered $100 worth of sushi. What I received was, by all standards, a joke. Even upon picking up the package itself, you can tell by how heavy it is how much 'content' or 'substance' you are getting. The package weighed about as much as your remote control. How do you charge what you do for a few tiny pieces of plastic-tasting Tuna tataki that is in a giant plate of salad, a salad that looks like it's worth $3, with a few leaves and 2 baby carrots thrown in for good measure? The sushi Maki rolls were nearly 50% smaller than most places that I normally order from (those places were unavailable to order from today unfortunately). The taste itself was OK, medium, nothing amazing. The taste of the sushi was more of what you'd expect from a Chinese Buffet that has sushi, rather than a professional Japanese sushi spot. I am sure whoever is reading this review knows what I am talking about with the taste difference between these two such places. So how do you manage to charge top-notch prices for 50% smaller potions than some of your competitors, and with sushi that's OK tasting? (don't judge me) Sei Bar always pops up on my delivery/pick up searches and I really don't have an answer for you why I have avoided it so much, I guess I have my favorites and I leave it at that. Well that changed last night. I decided why not give it a try, order for pick up and go from there. We got two hand rolls, two maki rolls, crab rangoons and a pork fried rice. Now I'm particular about my rice (see my other reviews lol) and when my husband requested pork fried rice i immediately became sour because I haven't had a pork fried rice I absolutely loved or cared for or liked or enjoyed. I'm also VERY particular about my fried rice so I really didn't have much expectation. And thank goodness I was proven wrong by this restaurant. The sushi was good - I'd come back again for that. But I would come back sooner for that darn pork fried rice! What made it so good was the aroma, the char siu pork (sp?) was VERY flavorful and wasn't that fatty, the rice morsels were still in tact. The chef/waiter was incredibly rude. I walked in and immediately he was unwelcoming. I decided to order anyways because I was hungry and wanted to enjoy a meal by myself. I asked for the Crazy Maki, but when the total came out to 11.00 something I immediately realized something was off because what I ordered was 8.00 something. I told him I didn't ask for what he gave me and he was physically upset, throwing his hands. Needless to say, I left because I don't go places where customers are treated as such. Best and most fresh sushi I have had in the area including a large bit of north shore boston, fresh and absolutely delicious, I'm surprised I have seen people complain about the price, good quality costs more, if you want cheap sushi go to market basket . I bought 5 delicious maki rolls for $41 with tax included before tip.. This place is not cheap but also in my opinion not expensive for how good the quality is, there's a popular place in Summerville that charges a good bit more on Maki rolls and its definitely not as fresh and delicious as the sei bar everett. read more

I am so disappointed to leave this review. While the size portions have changed, the food has always been good. Tonight, my issue is with delivery and management. I ordered my food, paid a delivery charge and a tip and was told no more than an hour....also made sure to choose option where they ring the doorbell (also--they have also called me upon delivery every time). Tonight, after and hour and 20 minutes, I call and was told it was delivered well over a half hour ago....no door bell, no call. When they delivered the order they had forgotten the edamame. When we arrived it took an extra 10-15 minutes for our food to be prepared. I waited in the small "lobby" that's been created for safety precautions. Food: The highlight was DEFINITELY the sushi rolls we ordered. My personal favorite is as the Tekk-Avo Maki. Between the teriyaki chicken and orange chicken I would recommend the teriyaki. Small intimate space about four tables. I was 1 of 3 customers dining in. The couple dining in already received their food of beef teriyaki. It was my first time there and didn't know what to order , so I ordered the same and avocado maki. Here's where it gets interesting, the service was terrible, i was directed to scan the menu and it had option for dining in and the table number. The sushi chef/ waiter didn't not explain anything, was looking very annoyed. He did even bring a glass of water after 20 mins of sitting there. So back to the QR code menu, i had to pay first before my food came out. This was no problem until I noticed the caucasian couple next to me finished there food and paid at the register. So I'm like did they racially profile me and give me the qr code to pay first in order to dine in? The server was only literally tending to 3 people! So my avocado maki was warm which i was not used to and my beef teriyaki looked pretty but there was not much flavor and the sauce was watery instead of a nice slurry. Needless to say i asked about the payment option issue and the kitchen chef tried to do damage control like they were not profiling saying that frequent customers are familiar with the option to pay after eating with the qr code. Well i told him this was my first time here, the waiter was not hospitable and each time i asked for something he pointed to the qr code on the table. The waitress tsssked at me like I was an animal. My husband and I were seated and waiting for 20-30 minutes. This is our third time going and I can say this will be our last. Not only were we ignored but the servers here didn't even ask if we wanted anything to drink. After an eternity the waitress finally got our order by speaking the bare minimum of "yeah" and "okay." The food and atmosphere is good but the service is horrible. Every time the phone rang the waitress would tsssk as well. My husband even said thank you and she flat put ignored him. I did an order of chicken wings and the Phuket Noodles with basil. Delivery was super fast, at my place within 30 min and food was fresh. Wings were delicious. I'm a big wings guy and was pleasantly surprised. They were hot, crispy and not too greasy. The noodles were okay, large portion and they were hot. Not as spicy as I had hoped (ordered them medium). One complaint would just be the noodles had a bit of a gelatinous texture, but I think it was caused by the container. Overall it was a good meal and I had plenty of food for lunch the next day. (which I will be sure to review). The sushi chef is very friendly, along with the wait staff. My friends and I were periodically brought complimentary dishes which was great. The space is small, but in a quaint sort of way, not too over crowded. I've been looking for a place closer to work because downtown Salem wasn't cutting it from Saugus, especially not from living in Everett!!! I can't say I was disappointed: My spicy chicken pad thai was all you can expect from any place that specializes in Thai food. nothing special to write home about, however nothing to complain about. My boyfriend ordered a curry dish, I don't remember which one, and for some reason unknown to me we didn't ask about mushrooms since most things said them and this dish didn't. I've never had a bad experience with their Everett location. Have only been to the Medford place once, so it's hard to judge. But Sei Bar on broadway is pretty good. Take out is timely and everything you need is in the bag. Eating there is even better because they almost always bring over a complimentary dish. Yeah, it's a small place and they probably don't see a ton of business so they have to get rid of their sushi-grade food, but I'll take complimentary tuna popcorn thingies anytime :) The pad thai is delicious and the tempura is not over fried or over greasy.
