Even though it's not the most dramatic looking, it does give a nice view of the city. I often visit the park which surrounds the castle. The castle and park have some cafes. The base of the park has some nice playgrounds for kids.

Hence, thousands upon thousands of skulls and skeletons never made it into a bone home of their very own. If you want to read about the archaeological dig that unearthed these bones as well as the human treatment and classification of these dead bodies, you can Google it. Here, I'm just going to review the business of paying to see bones. The ossuary is located on the Kostel sv Jakuba grounds and is accessed through stairs from the concrete walk leading to the church. You will pay a fee, 280 Czech Korunas, or almost $12 USD for two people. There are discounts offered for various things so check to see if you qualify for one. You will receive a printed information sheet in your own language. This is a self-guided tour and I'm not sure that it could be anything other than self-guided due to the limited size and content. There are some very interesting historical details posted along with some "special" finds before you step down into the underground tunnels filled with wall-to-wall skulls and bones. The tunnels aren't very long so there's no chance whatsoever of being lost in them. I don't want to steal anyone's joy over looking at skulls, but the souls that lived in them have surely moved on. It could be a thoughtful tribute to those souls but I found the dramatic music and uplighting more of a distraction from rather than a complement to their memory. I was looking for history, not entertainment, yet piped in music made it seem like it was supposed to feel like a haunted house. In summary, paying to see skulls and bones in an exhibit of this scale doesn't seem to be worth $140 Korunas per person unless it brings you face to face with your own mortality. In that case, it may be worth it. Otherwise, your Korunas are better spent at the Špilberk Castle down the street where admission to tour the entire lower level of the prison, plus the upper levels and museum complete with dozens upon dozens of exhibits, including archaeological, art, and history exhibits, costs nearly the same amount.

Wowza! If you are near Brno...you have to check out this house! You need to reserve your tickets…read morebeforehand (like months), which we did not know, otherwise you only get to look at the house from the outside. We just walked around and were glad we did. Such a cool house with great architecture and style. I wish we had known the proper way to plan because I'm sure the inside would have been well worth it! The gift shop on the back side of the ground level is worth the stop in. Reasonably priced souvenirs/information to take with you as a memory. I would love to see this next time I visit. The neighborhood surrounding the property is really pretty with lots of great houses to see on your drive in and out too.

Tours are between 8-10 people per hour, it sucks cause it makes it difficult to get a reservation but at the same time it's awesome cause you get a very small and private your where you can access every room and corner of the house. What is Vila Tugendhat? It's Mies Van Der Rohe's European masterpiece built in 1929 for the Tugendhat family, who appreciated modern architecture.

Day trip from Prague to the Archbishop's Chateau, about a three-hour drive, and it was worth it!…read moreWell, the gardens were. The chateau is located right near the city center of Kroměříž, within walking distance of the main square. Although this is a Unesco Heritage site, the guides at the desk spoke no English and didn't seem very willing to try. I tried to use my VERY little Czech and google translate but the two women who were there at the ticket counter on the particular day that I went were not trying to help, so, unfortunately, I didn't buy tix to go into the chateau and tower. TO NOTE: The ladies at the Pleasure Garden, which was down the street, were SUPER helpful (separate review on that!) When I asked the two un-helpfuls about the chateau gardens, they kept pointing on the map for me to go to the Pleasure Gardens (a different location), so I quite ON ACCIDENT stumbled upon the chateau gardens when I walked around the corner after leaving the ticket counter. You can find them to the left or right back side of the chateau. I discovered the chateau gardens open at 7am and it is free for anyone to enter and walk through. There are some pretty flower gardens to the front, closer to the chateau, but the very expansive garden extends quite a way along the back, with about 22 different sculpture/architectural gems throughout. There are several benches to sit on and relax, and a pretty little lake. I quite enjoyed frolicking around the gardens and posing with my favorite, the oversized umbrella. Great trails for joggers as well. I would have loved to see the view from the tower but the gardens are pretty.

I knew about the language option, but I felt the tour guide did not make an effort to make foreigners feel welcome. The opposite in fact. His primary concern was to check if we put on the odd slippers over our shoes to protect the floor. BTW, none of the guides wore any (not leading by example). I wish I skipped the tour and visited the wine cellar instead. However, by the end of the tour I was hot and just wanted to catch the next bus home. Overall, I expected more. If you are visiting Mikulov, it is worth stopping by. The best part was the baroque garden entrance. It was small but made an impression. The rest did not. The interiors were a bit lackluster if you have been to castles in some of the larger cities. The grounds are mostly lawns. I think in the fall it might be more interesting with some foliage change? Bathrooms require 10 crowns unless you use the one out on the street (free).

Plus, we were offered complimentary cappuccinos--and they were DELISH! (What?!) We went from Vienna to Bratislava in an hour. It was absolutely lovely, for only 5 Euros!!

I usually travel with Ragiojet, I prefer them greatly to CZD but today I am having an unbearable…read moreexperience. The train was last by 30 mins and it was announced on the wrong track (although I believe this was mostly CZD since they tent to make very few announcements about Ragiojet trains and they manage the trains in the stations in, to and from the Czech Republic). We had to wait outside in the sun for the train to be cleaned. The train was super hot and it was almost unbearable to be inside. The cooling system was broken, but the staff was nice enough to explain that. Still that doesn't change the fact that when they did not offer any free cold drinks and only now 15 mins before Brno hnl did they ask if someone wanted to buy anything else. Still better than CZD.
