I've been coming here for 7 years. My dog Danny is the library dog. All the staff is sweet, kind,…read morepatient and accommodating. Although we spend most of our time in the Children's section - everyone is so helpful and we have watched a million interactions. They even have a plant exchange in the back! 10/10 recommend!

Not sure why it took me so long to get over here and get a library card (I've lived in East…read moreProvidence for 5+ years now!) but I am glad I did. Though I've still got a pile of Game of Thrones books to get through before I'll be checking anything out of the literary section, their selection of DVDs and CDs has been a delight to peruse. Despite having Netflix... there are a number of movies that are not available through their service and I have had the opportunity to either pick them up here or request them from another library. The library itself is brightly lit, open feeling, and very quiet. The children's section is set opposite from the rest of the library which was a great design idea. Computers, desk space, chairs, etc. litter the interior of this place scattering those who are visiting the library.. adding to the serenity of the environment within. The librarians I have interacted with thus far have been very helpful. I even witnessed one getting down on her hands and knees to help another patron locate something on a bottom shelf. I enjoy their self-service checkout system... scan your card, scan the barcodes on your books/dvds/etc, print your receipt, and you are on your way. There is always someone manning the desk nearby (or at least close by) as well in case there are any issues during the check-out process. The library offers a number of programs and incentives for the community. Storytime, computer help, crafts, classes, movies, book signings, bingo, workshops, book clubs, community service opportunities, music, museum passes, and so much more! I am excited to have access to this branch and look forward to many more visits.

Lighthouses computers…read moreand books The Riverside Library is a new library that was completed in 2005. It's a simple but attractive library on the outside and clean and well organized on the inside. It's immediately obvious that this is a new and well designed library. Lots of computers for public use, a large community room, a wonderful kids area with lots of cool toys and stuffed animals and several interesting displays. Perhaps the most interesting things about the library was the Pomham Rocks Lighthouse display. Several lovely models of the old lighthouse and information by the Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse Association. A very nice and modern branch library that has friendly and pleasant librarians, useful conveniences and amenities and a wonderful display of lighthouses.

There's a great system in place to just coast over to the wall of reserved goodies on your own and find your things by your name. You can even go over to a simple self-serve check-out and zip right out. Though why would I do that?, because as Cherie M. rightfully gushes, the librarians are just that nice to talk to. This is why I'm just not interested in Kindle (ok, with the exception of when I'm traveling...the only time I wish I wasn't lugging books) - this is one routine I really enjoy in my life and, hello!, it's FREE. The hours are great for a small branch - open til 8 on weeknights and til 5 on Fri and Sat. Parking's no problem; even if the lot is full there's plenty of street parking.

When I saw the opportunity to make my own three dimensional leather rose listed on the June Events…read moreat Rochambeau library newsletter, I immediately registered by emailing rocadults@clpvd.org to reserve my seat. Registration is suggested. The event was held on Saturday, June 28 in MakerSpace starting at 3:30pm. When I entered Rochambeau library, there was a sign that gave instructions to MakerSpace. Cassidy introduced herself and there were 6 of us for the event. We sat at the desks with all the supplies and Cassidy informed us we have the option for a mini or a large leather rose. Most of us chose the large leather rose. First, Cassidy instructed us to cut the petals out of the leathercraft pattern for 3-D Leather Roses by Annie Libertini. Using the pattern, we then traced the shape onto the leather. Next, we soaked the leather with water. This helps the leather pliable and easier to mold. We pinched, twisted, and rolled the leather into the tight center of a rose. Using a bottle cap as a base, we put the outer shell and the inner shell of the rose together with some leather glue. Lastly, we just have to allow the petals to dry over night. The next day, the petals were dry and they held their shape. Cassidy was very friendly, very knowledgeable about leather, and gave instructions that were easy to follow. Rochambeau library has many different events, so I'm sure there is something for everyone.

Which created a love of books for them, that they carried to adulthood. The librarians were always so incredibly nice to us. I have nothing but fond memories here. Thank you
