I came here to grab food-to-go so that we didn't starve on a drive from Toulouse to Bordeaux, and…read morethis place was good. They were fast, had a decent selection of prepared sandwiches (2 types of ham, BBQ chicken, tuna), and baked goods / pastries. It looked like they were making everything fresh in the back, which was nice because I had just gone to a different bakery earlier in the day, where I saw them pulling pastries out of a box (so I presume they weren't making them in house) The sandwich I had was solid with fresh bread, ham, cheese, some lettuce and tomato. It wasn't necessarily mind-blowing, but was good and we were hungry. We also got a chocolate eclair which was also good but was a little bit confused that there was almost like a chocolate-mousse for the filling instead of a vanilla custard/filling. Delicious, but not sure I'd be hankering to get this particular dessert again. I'd come back here again to try more things, but don't think I'd make a special trip out of my way to come here over and over.

Take a look at the pics on the site - these are airbrushed; they're the real thing! Amazingly, they also carry some damn good, fresh & hot chocolate chip cookies, as well as glazed donuts. I just gotta get back there and hit up some of those pain au chocolat though!

Jambon and buerre baguette had only one thin layer of meat and nary any butter in it; quite insubstantial and dry sandwich for €3.90. The pan au chocolat was standard. The chocolate almond croissant, though seemingly perfect in concept, actually has too much going on and the flavors didn't come through well. The espresso was also meh. Did the job but not that tasty. Good convenient stop, but at most mediocre.

It's a convenient place to grab a sandwich or a pastry before your journey via train, or right after, and there's a pretty decent selection of pastries - croissants, pretzels, bread, etc. If you want a sandwich in the morning, your options are a little more limited - they have ham and butter and a chicken sandwich. I got the chicken sandwich one morning, and it had so much mustard in it, it was almost inedible. It seemed like someone had dumped half a jar of dijon mustard into the sandwich. Don't get me wrong - I love mustard, but this was excessive. I've gotten this sandwich at other Paul locations various times, and it's had mayonnaise inside or small amount of mustard and it's been really good, so perhaps this time around it was a fluke. The chicken sandwich is not cheap either - at 4.95€, it's a bit expensive for what you get compared to other sandwich places around the city, but you pay for convenience. I'll still come here to get a sandwich before a train ride, and it's probably one of the best options when you're in the train station, but it's pretty standard or in my experience, sub-par for a Paul.
