We are expats who are already on our way out of the country. Our son lost his phone last month and we wanted to replace it for him, which took us to our usual electronics store Elgiganten. This one is located at Fields. The store assistant sold us a new mobile plan and said that we could get a discount on the phone if we port our mobile plan. I clarified with her that a discount is welcome but I hope there is no binding since we will be here only for a month after the plan activates. She categorically assured us that there is none and that if there were one we could go back to the store to return the phone. We ended up porting not one (which would have been good for the discount of 100 kr) but two numbers. Also, she said that our sim cards will be couriered to our homes, which incidentally never came. Now at Elgiganten, we have had a great experience till then, buying loads of stuff, so we quickly trusted the word of the store assistant, without asking to put this in writing!! The plan was to start on 1-Jun-23 and I logged into CBB portal a couple of days earlier to update my credit card info for billing. This is when I realized that there was a binding, on both numbers. Clearly, this was not what we had agreed. Of course, disturbed by the fact I went back to the store and luckily found the same store assistant. She flatly refused that she had committed to any such thing. There was no way to prove that she had said that. My requests fell on deaf ears. I tried the call center and the new mobile company but nothing worked. I also tried another store, where I interestingly found out that she had worked previously and her coworkers described her stint there as 'Unfortunate'. We have loved Denmark over our 1-year stay, and also loved the experience of shopping at Elgiganten, except for this scam artist that we found out right before we were to leave. She passed us a 100 Kr discount, on a 1600 Kr phone, which now will cost us 3300 Kr, with the unexpected payout that we will need to make. It is only she who stood to gain from this, and I want both Elgiganten and the reader to be very aware. My order number was: 2227994020, her name is on the invoice. Date of experience: May 30, 2023

You will find the big brands and their top models, then some midrange products, and some super bargains. It is the place to go, if you up front know, what you are going to buy. When buying your are always ask for a wear and tear insurance. It is a good idea to have a insurance like this, but do not buy one for every electric product you buy. Instead buy one combined for all your electric stuff at home at your normal insurance company. I really do not understand, why I is company policy to ask every time? Customer service is not bad for Danish standards. They are going to ripe you of, if you do not know your rights. E.g. bought a Wii U at their website. It didn't work. In the shop they tjecked, and they came to the same conclusion. Fona offered to try to repair it, but I refused. It was brand new, and it didn't work. I want a new one. The sales man had to ask his superior, but they wanted to repair, and they couldn't more, even though it was a online sale. I asked for getting my money back, because the Wii U was bought online (you have a fortnight to cancel a sale, if it is done online without you have had the opportunity the have seen the actual product). When I have explained my rights as a online customer, and told the I was going to pursue those, it was suddenly an other game. The staff is quite knowledgeabl, so if company policy could be changed, so I wasn't riped off by pointless insurances and bad customers service, they could get four stars.
