Porky before I left him overnight.
    Seth J.

We brought our beloved 7 year old corgi dog to the place as he had neck pain and we wanted to do a MRI. His heart rate was high as he was in pain and stressed. The initial nurses we met were very nice (only reason I am not giving a 1 star) and informative. They took Porky back and started doing tests. We sat there for a couple hours while they looked at him. Then Dr Johnson came and brought us back to talk about the situation. They said he was in a lot of pain and they wanted to keep him there overnight and do a MRI and more tests either later that day or the next morning. Then they worked up an estimate which came to like $7k not including the MRI just for x-rays, medicine and overnight stay. We have pet insurance for unexpected things like this and my dog is like my soul so we accepted and thought he would be in good hands. I asked to say goodbye to him and Dr Johnson said "you will definitely see him again, this is not life threatening." But, I still wanted to go back to say goodbye as we never leave him with strangers. He has back in a cage with IV tubes on him and he looked great. They were monitoring his vitals and you would think he would be in good hands. The lights are on full blast and there are tons of people and hurt/sick dogs and cats walking right by him all day I thought he would have a hard time sleeping or relaxing. But, I thought it's only one day and this is an emergency hospital that's one of the most expensive in the state with specialists and state of the art equipments. So I kissed him good bye and said "it's gonna be ok...I will be back tomorrow." Then we left. I had to call the Vet to get an update. She said he was doing good and on pain medications. They couldn't get him in for a $6k MRI that day but Dr Bebe said she would do it in the morning. This was at like 6pm the first night. We dropped him off at 7:30 am. Then my wife got a call from them while we were at dinner saying they need to give him steroids. We said ok if you think that is your recommendation. Then we get the call at 4:30 am and knew it wasn't good. They said Porky went into cardiac arrest and they are trying CPR. Then we both jump to get ready and drive straight to the hospital. They great us with an insincere "sorry but Porky didn't make it". Then we went into a room to see him. I was crying and holding him and not a minute later another Vet tech comes in with a brochure and promptly asks of which options we want to pay for in terms of cremation or if we want to bury him take him home. It wasn't 1 minute I shit you not and this lady is heartlessly trying to sell us options. We said our goodbyes to one of the best dogs I ever had. A 7 year old corgi who had horrible neck pain we thought was a disc issue. I felt like they put him on the back burner. I feel like the night crew was lackadaisical about doing their job. They probably deemed other dogs "more critical" all the while ours dies right under their noses waiting to get his MRI and possibly surgery. I will NEVER leave my dog unattended with another Vet again. I just do NOT trust them. There are some Vet employees I know truly do it for the love of animals and I know there are a lot of good vets. But, it's a business and most just want that money and are desensitized as they see sick/dead pets every day. I am not gonna tell you to go here or not to go here if your pet needs help. I am just telling my story. I am devastated and truly feel like I lost a part of my soul. I also believe the death of my dog was avoidable. I wish I never brought him here in the first place. Such a sad story.

My dog had some kind of kidney problem. The veterinary staff did everything they could, and each member was very polite, patient and friendly. She ended up staying there for two nights. I was worried she might be scared or confused, but she looked very happy when I picked her. I could tell they were kind to her. They also contacted our insurance to ensure they received approval for the estimate, which was thoughtful of them. Dr. Kameyama explained everything clearly, so we could understand the progress. Thank you for saving my dog!

We came for care for our dog with a laceration on his paw. Our dog was taken in the back fairly quickly, however we were not allowed to be with him. We had minimal communication with the staff to update us on his progress. We arrived at the clinic at 7pm and were dismissed to wait at home at 9:30. Finally at 1:45 am I called for an update. The receptionist told me that he was getting stitches and finally at 3 am the veterinarian called and said he would be ready in an hour. His bill was just shy of $1500, which seems excessive since he received 6 stitches, some antibiotics and a bandage. Communication was below expectations. Wait time was excessive. Cost was a little higher than original quote. I would advise you to get emergency care elsewhere.

We took our German Shepherd Dog to Blue Pearl in Kirkland at approximately 9 pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, due to concerns about an infection on his tail. I mentioned at least three times--twice to the vet assistant and once to the doctor--and wrote on the intake forms that I was concerned about possible necrosis at the tip of his tail. After the doctor examined his tail, she diagnosed an infection but stated there was no necrosis. I asked for confirmation, as I was surprised given the appearance of his tail, and she reiterated her assessment. We received antibiotics and cream and went home, assuming there was no immediate risk. During a scheduled appointment with our regular vet on Friday, he quickly identified necrosis and recommended amputation. The necrosis had spread from about 4 inches to approximately 12 inches and needed surgery immediately; otherwise, it would continue to spread. I was in shock to say the least, especially after having spent $600 on the emergency vet visit. The doctor had assured us the tail was fine and provided medication before sending us home. My GSD is laying beside me and is recovering from emergency surgery with a 4-inch nub that used to be a beautiful tail. On Friday afternoon, I called Blue Pearl and informed the receptionist of what occurred when I went to his primary Vet. She apologized and indicated that the Manager would call me back. I expressed interest in discussing solutions rather than revisiting the same information. As of Tuesday, March 4, 2025, I have not heard back from their manager. Given this situation, concerns are raised about the competency and responsiveness of this doctor. While perfection is unattainable, how an organization responds to errors reflects the quality of care provided to customers and their pets. I generally avoid public criticism and negative reviews. However, I provided them with an opportunity to address the issue constructively, but they chose to disregard it. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this facility due to its lack of concern, follow-up, and support to their customers and pet.

Dr. Bodily represented the Northwest at its best -- honest, collaborative, grounded, and genuinely committed to the animals in his care. What's here now feels nothing like that legacy. Nearly a full year ago, three vets -- Dr. Brown, Dr. Arnaz, and Dr. Bennett -- told me my senior cat, Tasmin, had only days to live. Weeks at most. Now it's nearly a year later, and at 18 she is still here, eating, active, and proving every one of their bleak predictions wrong. Instead of expressing relief or humility, they reacted with irritation and defensiveness. Whenever I shared good news, they ran straight back to the same line: "She's dying soon." Things came to a head when my pet sitter brought Tasmin in recently for a chronic issue, and Dr. Bennett immediately went back to pushing euthanasia -- again. No exploration of treatment options. No curiosity. Just the same script. It felt less like medical judgment and more like avoidance of the fact that their earlier predictions were flat-out wrong. When I pushed back and advocated for my cat, the situation became downright hostile. The practice manager, Arty, jumped in with a barrage of condescending, accusatory messages -- despite having never met me, never spoken to me, and never once tried to understand the situation. He didn't just "ask me to leave." He berated me, inventing claims that I was "harassing" the vets simply because I expected communication and accountability. I asked, repeatedly and calmly, for a basic apology for how I was treated. Instead, he told me to never come back and never contact them again. The entire exchange radiated classic passive-aggressive California-transplant energy -- brittle ego, zero accountability, all attitude. Whatever Northwest values once defined this building have been completely overwritten. This clinic does not collaborate. They do not listen. They become defensive the moment you ask a question and combative the moment you advocate for your pet. After nearly a year of incorrect predictions, they still refused to consider that they might be wrong. Their hours tell the same story -- closing early, no weekends, minimal flexibility. Convenience for themselves, not care for animals. And their "cat-friendly" branding? Pure marketing. When they opened, the walls were covered entirely with dog artwork. Only after I pointed it out did a few token cat images appear -- and even those looked like afterthoughts. If you value honest communication, actual collaboration, or simply want a vet who won't shut down and lash out when questioned, look elsewhere. Midlakes Veterinary Hospital made it painfully clear: the priority here is defending themselves, not caring for your pets. Your animals deserve better

He also noted that hand nibbling (as distinct from biting) is consistent with normal puppy developmental behavior and allowed our puppy to nibble on him during the exam, which was reassuring to observe. It is evident that both Dr. Miller and Dr. Matt hold their veterinary oath in the highest regard. Knowing we can trust them brings immense peace of mind when it comes to our puppy's care. This practice should have been a five-star experience based on Dr. Miller, Dr. Matt, and the front desk staff alone. Unfortunately, a **detached, impersonal, and indifferent interaction with Madden--marked by a lack of empathy and engagement--**overshadowed what they truly deserved.
