Had a great experience buying a helmet for Auto crossing (car racing). The gentlemen that helped me out was friendly, low key, and knowledgeable about the helmets and fitments. I like that they didn't try to up-sell me on a higher end helmet. In autox your only in your helmet for 70 secs at a time and there is no use for the super vent systems used for motorcycle helmets. The guys that work at this place are great. Ryan, Robert, and Gunner have all been really helpful getting me geared up and fielding all the questions and concerns I voice. I'm not one to make quick purchases, often coming back multiple times. They never try to give me the hard sell on anything. When I finally figure out what I want they'll order it for me if it's not in stock and I'll have it just as fast or faster than if I ordered it online. I always expect the online products to be cheaper than brick and mortar stores but that's not usually the case here. SCC wants your business and I've found they'll go the extra mile to get it, which I totally appreciate and thus I give mine to them! read more

This is a great place to buy some gear but there repair shop had it's faults. Nice people, decent service but I brought in my older bike for an inspection and was dissapointed. First, it took a couple weeks of calling before they even looked at the bike. Once someone decided to check it out, I was expecting an actual list or printed inspection but all I got was one of their mechanics doing a 3 minute look at the bike while on the phone with me. For one of the repairs I was told I need to hunt down a part for it myself to conduct the work. I spent about 8 hours driving to various shops, searching online, etc and kept having to call back to SCC because I didn't have enough information for the shops I was visiting. In the end I didn't find the part and the mechanic at SCC didn't do the repair. Aren't I paying for the expertise and resources of a mechanic when I bring in my vehicle? I have owned cars (some of them pretty old) for all my life and have never experienced a 'bring your own parts' policy elsewhere. I wouldn't go back to these guys for anything but gear. read more

This kind of business DESERVES to stay in business! The place is awesome, the crew is friendly and helpful, the prices are reasonable, and the selection is large. Don't buy motorcycle gear on the Internet, unless you use the SCC website. You want to be able to come in any time and find what you want, now. I ordered an item not in stock, paid for it, got an unexpected discount, and picked up the item a few days later. In the past I've bought helmets, jackets, pants, etc. there, and lubricants as well. I had my bike towed here for service and I had no idea how much the repairs were going to cost me. They asked me for a "call" amount and I estimated the work would be around 200 dollars. As the proud new owner of a 2003 Honda Ruckus- I was in need of a helmet and went searching on Saturday to find one. I stopped at a number of stores- and this was the only one where they actually reached out to me while I was browsing to see if I needed any assistance. As a total rookie when it comes to scooters- I really needed the help. I tried on probably 10 helmets- ranging from $80-$500- to get a sense of fit and features. There are lots of choices... I finally found one that I really liked (a silver Shoei TZ-R)- only problem was that it was way over my budget. I asked them for some flexibility and they gave me a really nice discount to get the helmet into my budget. I'll certainly come back to this place when I need more help. All I can say is..great place to shop for any motorcycle related gear. The staff is helpful, knowledgeable and they don't push you to buy anything. I went there and got a jacket for myself and a helmet for my gf. They explained to her what helmet size would fit her best, what the difference between different models is and even how she can customize her helmet. Their selection isn't that big but they have a varied price range and a fair amount of different models, which is all you really need. I have been coming here for years to outfit myself and now that they sell and service scooters I make sure my scooter comes here too. The longterm staff are superb. Lisa is a doll: one time I came in and she showed me her Suomy Vandal Dream helmet that just arrived for her. She let me try it on, and easily/happily ordered one for me as well. My roommate and I went there to check out gloves before our MSF BRC; the staff was very knowledgeable and provided guidance, without being pushy or trying to convince us to buy more expensive items. We returned in a few weeks to get some helmet s and jackets and received the same care and attention. They even stayed late to help us finish fitting our gear, and got us some extra discounts on top of the MSF discount :) I highly recommend this place, I'll always buy from here over ordering online even if I could save a few bucks. read more

Update: just bought a helmet here too. I'd originally bought a Scorpion EXO 410 helmet on Revzilla, but when I got it the fit wasn't right. I went in to Seattle Cycle Center to compare size/fit on different brands & models. They encouraged me to wear helmets for a while to see how they felt after a few minutes. I ended up getting the same helmet I'd ordered online, but a size down. They convinced me to buy the pinlock system too, which is a huge plus since I ride year round, and I just dealt w/ the fog in my old Z1R helmet. This Scorpion helmet is a much nicer fit than my Z1R, and the faceshield mechanism is much better. I'm happy they convinced me to get the pinlock system, I think it's totally worth it if you ride in cold/rain/dark. Revzilla took a week for the helmet to come in, and I had this right away. The price in person is $12 more (tax), but I say it's worth it to have the helmet instantly, and also for the chance to try on different helmets and see the colors in person. I wasn't looking forward to returning the helmet to Revzilla, waiting a week or two for a refund, then waiting another week for a new helmet to come in. This place is great, and the prices are the same as what I was finding online. I went around noon during the week and I was the only one trying on helmets. read more

If I need anything for my scooter I go here. Everyone is super friendly and knowledgable. When I needed a helmet Sunny answered every question I had about multiple brands and styles and gave me loads of advice on fit. I'm sure I took up at least an hour of his time but he never made me feel like a bother. He has such a great attitude and is a total wealth of knowledge. I ended up leaving with a helmet that I absolutely love and have him to thank for all his help. I just took my scooter in today for an oil change and a good once-over and had the same pleasant experience I've had every time I've gone in. Greeted with a smile, they immediately got to work on my scooter and called me an hour later when it was ready. They didn't try to sell me things I didn't need or hit me with charges for unnecessary parts. Just solid service at a reasonable price. And now my scooter is running like a champ! I have a friend with a scooter and she feels the exact same way about this place. She only ever has great things to say as well. This is my top choice for any maintenance, clothing or accessory need here in Seattle. I can't recommend them enough. read more

I brought my 82' Honda v45 in to get a full tune up and new tires ($900 job). It took two and a half weeks to get it done... Sonny, the guy at the front desk was nice to speak with. He had informed me at the beginning that the service would take a week (give or take a couple days because they get tied up in other work when the weather is nice.) I waited a week and called them on a Friday to see if it would be ready by that next weekend, they said it hadn't been looked at. (Understandable, it was nice weather all week) I called back the next Wednesday to see if it was going to be done that next weekend, the mechanic told me that it hadn't been looked at yet. I asked when I should expect it to be done and he said the Wednesday a week later... They did get it done that Wednesday. Riding it home, the water light and battery light came on. I got home and found the coolant reservoir was completely empty. Filling it up turned off the water light. Two days later the battery died and I brought it to a local battery store, they said it wasn't holding a charge and needed to be replaced. The SCC printout I got about the service said the battery was tested and good, also the coolant being flushed was a part of my tuneup. I really wanted to like Seattle Cycle Center, Sonny was nice, but I will look for another shop to do my service work in the future. read more

I have one very specific problem with my bike: it's old. Twenty-five years old, to be exact -- that's like 75 to you and me. Even so, it's in great shape. It's like your old bachelor-farmer uncle who was a little rowdy in his younger days, maybe spent some time in the Navy seeing the world and sowing his wild oats then came back to the farm and settled down, cut out the drinking and smoking, and is taking it a little easier nowadays because his joints are getting a little stiff but he's still not giving any thought to retiring. So as you might imagine, if you discount the occasional orneriness, it's not really me that has a problem with its age -- it's the service and parts providers that do. Seattle Cycle resolves at least one part of that equation. They're a little bi-polar themselves -- the main shop is a modern parts and accessories store, with lots of leather and tires and shiny parts and knick-knacks, and what they advertise as the largest helmet selection in the city; the other side of the mirror is a service department that at first glance seems to be an afterthought tacked on in the garage out back. The staff of the parts store is generally pretty knowledgeable and helpful, once you get their attention, which isn't as easy as it should be. I just bought my first new helmet in ~17 years there, and they were able to speak knowledgeably about the different brands and their features and pluses/minuses, and make sure I got a good fit and all of the documentation and accessories that came with it. But when I asked them about bolts for my taillight casing I got the same blank stare I got at the Honda dealership. Their service department is where they really shine for me. Just don't make the mistake of thinking that the Parts and Accessories people know anything about the Service side of things, even though there's no actual "Service" desk and all of the doors that lead out to the garage are marked "Employees Only" so it looks like you're supposed to talk to the Parts and Accessories people. Just ask for Eric right off (Tues - Sat) and they'll go fetch him, and then all your troubles will be over. Eric was happy to work on my ornery bachelor-farmer uncle of a bike, actually called me when it was ready (how many auto/bike service people do *that* anymore?), talked from experience about the general problems with bikes from that era and the problems with my bike in particular, and most importantly gave it back to me with everything I asked for fixed and running practically good as new -- well, as good as you could expect your 75-year old uncle to run, anyway. read more

Do yourself a favor and order from Revzilla.com. While I typically like to support local businesses, this return policy is ridiculous. Really disappointed and definitely won't be back. Buyer BEWARE! They DO NOT accept refunds! I've shopped at SCC over the past 3 years and recently purchased a brake lock from them. After arriving home I realized the disk brakes on my 75' CB750 were solid and this lock would not work. When I took the 'never opened' blister packed lock back I was told they do not accept returns and only give store credit if returned within two weeks. I demanded my money be returned repeatedly but they refused and so I now refuse to ever step foot in their store again. After hearing great things about this place, I stopped in last week to look at some boots. It was the middle of the afternoon on a weekday. I was the only person in the shop besides the guy working at the counter. When I walked in, no greeting. Not even an acknowledgement that I was there. So I went back and starting perusing the boots on my own. I spent about 10 minutes in the store, trying on boots and helping myself. I could have asked for help but at this point I figured I'd go somewhere else that wanted my business. So I left. Walked right passed the front counter where, again, the guy working up front didn't say a word. Completely disrespectful and inconsiderate business in my opinion. I'm all for shopping local, but now it seems I can get better prices AND better service from online shops. read more

I bought a brand new scooter here, cash. I had them put a windshield on. I drove the scooter once (ONCE!) with the new windshield and wasn't happy with it. I asked to return the windshield and purchase a different one. They refused, saying it was now "used" and was a "special order". They never told me this policy when they installed it. With all the cash I've spent here, you won't accept a return-and-purchase?? Little did they know, I was about to walk in and buy an additional scooter for my niece. Sorry, you're not getting my business. I'll go buy her a Yamaha or Honda scooter this weekend instead. Apparently "James S" below had something similar happen to him. Later, after much arguing, the manager offered me 50% on the return, and then dismissed me by turning his back on me and walking off. Final note: take a look at the average stars given by women in the Reviews below versus the men....I'm just sayin'. PS. I just read the owner's reply below. As he well knows, because it was clearly explained to him, my bike had about 95 miles on it when the windshield was installed. The windshield was only on my bike for 5 miles, if that! I am disappointed that he chooses to twist the facts, and that he would risk his business' reputation over a $100 windscreen. Not a good way to bring the customers in. read more

The guy who does service, Dave, is some kind of mechanical savant. He proved to be helpful and knowledgeable in probably 20-40 words total over several phone calls. I bring it in and he tells me what it's likely to be, how much it'll be to find out, and that he'll probably find out tomorrow (I was told earlier he's backed up for weeks). Makes good on his word, tells me the cheapest way to fix it, and how much his end of it will cost (WAY TOO LITTLE). Makes good on the timeline, makes good on the quotes. I paid more to get it towed there than I did for the radiator replacement (not including the part). read more

Helmets, jackets, pants, boots, gloves, tires, oil/fluids. Good, friendly people in here. Helpful with suggestions and recommendations. They ride all the time and have encouraged me to attend different motorcycle events like dirt races and track days. I like a shop that extends an invitation into the community instead of putting out a vibe that you don't belong. No pressure on selling you anything, but a commitment to put you into protective gear that fits and functions well. The mechanics have also been helpful on a number of occasions. The clerk even offered to special order me a special color if I wanted, but since I needed something today, I decided not to go that route. I came in looking to purchase a kymco people gti 300. I also looked at some helmets and gear. Selection of helmets, gloves, and rain gear was pretty good. Store was kinda small but clean and organized. I saw the 300 that I was looking for. No hard sell from the dude. Just told him what I was looking for and he gave me a price. Didn't really haggle with him at that point because I was looking at other stores to price compare. Experience was better than a car dealer. Dude just gave me a price and the facts. No upsell. I came in for my first set of riding gear and was amazed at how great the place was. I came in when they were only 10 minutes from closing and one of the employees stayed with me an extra 20 minutes after closing in order to make sure that the helmet I got fit properly and I knew the upsides and downsides of each type. Same with the jacket - he helped me try on a dozen different jackets looking for one that fit just perfectly. He never once made me feel like I was taking too much of his time - he was nothing but polite. I will be coming back for all future gear. Really perfect employees and a great selection. Went in today to buy my first motorcycle helmet, from what I could tell online, this shop had the largest selection in the area. The selection of helmets was very good with many different styles and price points. I went in thinking I knew what I wanted, but decided on a different one after a young guy helped me out. He explained what brands were good for what head shapes (mine being more oval than round) and had me try a few different shaped helmets to find the right fit. He also explained the different safety ratings and the different features of the helmets in my price range. I will definitely being going back to Seattle Cycle Center when it comes time to buy more gear. read more

Please accept calls from people who have their outgoing phone number blocked; not doing so is effectively saying, "We don't care about the decisions you make regarding your communications. Do it our way, or call someone else." (There really is not other option.) I don't doubt that you have your reasons for doing this, but you are only the second or third company that I've ever come across which does ... it is incredibly rare, and therefor rather suspect as being necessary. I respectfully suggest revisiting this policy in light of what it says to your customers who try to call, and how that weighs against the reasons for a policy that is almost unheard of among other businesses of any type. Due to it's nature, it's impossible for you to estimate the impact it's had on your business as most people who don't like it probably just call someone else for their needs. I took the time to write this review as a sincere way of asking you to look at the policy. Thank you. EDIT: Changed from 2 stars to 3.
