Visited Seaton Lane Inn today for an evening meal out. The restaurant looked lovely, the staff were friendly enough and we ordered our food. My husband had Cod and Prawns in garlic and parsley butter sauce with chunky chips. I ordered the Lamb with vegetables and new potatoes. As I am allergic to anything that comes from a grape, I asked for a plain gravy and rather than the ratatouille of vegetables I asked for plain veg. The cod and the lamb was delivered to our table and the waitress went back for the vegetables. The meals looked lovely. The waitress delivered the veg in separate bowls. I began to eat my meal..first the lamb.IT WAS ONLY JUST LUKE WARM and so was the gravy, then the (what looked like roasted) vegetables. I tried the (what I think was) parsnip first and I nearly broke my tooth, the other veges on my plate were burnt and hard and I honestly couldn't distinguish what they were. The waitress returned to see if everything was alright and I hastened to tell her that my meal was cold and the vegetables were burned beyond recognition. The meal was taken away, the chef sent apologies and 5 minutes later a new meal was delivered. The second meal was mediocre, warmer than before but still not hot.the vegetables were OK as they had been steamed this time and you could recognise what they were. I left the rosti as it was same as before COLD. We decided to try a pudding. Jam sponge with creme anglais which tasted like a cheap swiss roll and the creme anglais was indeed custard. My husband had the chocolate truffle torte with cream which he says was nothing to write home about. ALL IN ALL, it cost us £41 and this included 2 small cokes and a J20. WE WON'T BE GOING AGAIN AND THE FOOD CERTAINLY WASN'T WORTH THE MONEY WE PAID FOR IT. We've had better from the light bite menu, 3 courses for £5.45 at the Crow's Nest in Seahamand this is no joke. read more
