Die Wohnung D4 ist eine alte, dreckige Bruchbude aus den 70er Jahren, die aussen gleich aussieht wie innen: Alles ist verlottert und renovationsbedürftig. Es beginnt mit der Fliegengittertüre, deren Scharniere nicht einmal angeschraubt sind und die Schlosskombination zur Eingangstüre im Internet zu finden ist. Der Kühlschrank liefert sich dann mit der Klimaanlage einen Wettkampf und zwar wer lauter knattert. Die Filter der Klimaanlage und die Deckenventilatoren wurden wohl in den letzten 20 Jahren nie gereinigt. Entsprechend ist alles ekelhaft. Die Ausstattung der Wohnung sieht aus wie bei meiner Großmutter und ich bin schon über 50 Jahre alt. Die Decken und Tücher sind fleckig und wohl auch 10 Jahre alt. Das Haus ist äußerst hellhörig und über uns in der Wohnung D7 hat wohl ein Trampeltier gewohnt, das sich von 21.30 Uhr bis 22.30 Uhr bereit zum Schlafengehen gemacht hat, in der Nacht mindestens zwei Mal aufgestanden ist und sich dann ab 5 Uhr jeweils für eine Wanderung bereit gemacht hat. So gegen 6.30 Uhr hat es dann die Wohnung verlassen, aber ist jeweils mindestens noch zwei Mal zurückgekehrt, weil es offenbar etwas vergessen hat. Wenn wir nicht die Flüge und das Hotel in Honolulu bereits gebucht hätten, wären wir nach einer Nacht wieder abgereist. read more

This was so over priced and nasty!!! As a local this is a shame to have stayed at one of the most historical places here on kauai! What a shame and bad experience we had here. From the musky smell as we entered to going home to take a shower because the bathrooms had hair in it and so moldy. Had to go home and bring my own blankets because the one they offered was blood stained. The door wasn't even secure I had to put my own camera for safety means and the remote was broken and rusted out that I had to go home and get our remote. The internet didn't work so I had to use my own portable Wi-Fi. What a shame what a shame!! They didn't even give a local resident discount. Communication was very poor. They charge a three hundred dollar cleaning fee... NEVER AGAIN!!!! read more

We stayed in F1 Nice high shower head. The amenities were Cable TV (really old small TV though), internet, DVD player, and CD player. There is no A/C. The bed was really uncomfortable. Well stocked kitchen, sticky cabinets (due to sea water?) were kinda gross. If you want to use the BBQ area bring your own charcoal. There is a small pool, no hot tub though. The pool was ice cold, not even usable. Read their email before you leave, you have to print out a parking pass... we didn't read this beforehand. They should leave one in the condo for your convenience. For the amount of the cleaning fee there is a lot of dust on the fans, and headboard of bed, my allergies were getting to me. Several of the light bulbs were out, and window by the front door was missing a pane. You even have to wash your dishes or they will charge you extra, I washed them but didn't put them away because they were still wet... hope I don't get charged extra. This place didn't feel very secure with cheap windows and sliding glass door that could be easily jimmied open. On the plus side the ocean view was nice... read more

Beautiful, stunning ocean views, blissfully quiet, and all the amenities I could want--I LOVED my stay in condo J9! I will definitely choose this condo again for the following reasons: 1) J9 is upstairs on the end, very private, with full ocean views The window seat, lanai, and both bedrooms have large windows that look out onto beautiful ocean views. I kept the bedroom window open at night and fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Another favorite spot: I snuggled up in the window seat with large comfy pillows and read, whale watched, and listened to the waves crash on the beach below, and no other condo faced me, so it was very private. Also, the pool is nearby (though I didn't use it), and the landscaping around the condo is quite nice. 2) The condo is well equipped There are beach towels and boogie board for the beach. Also a nice kitchen and dining area with everything you need for cooking and dining in. The bed was very comfortable and decor was nice. Special bonus points for super soft sheets! 3) The location is fabulous Sealodge is just a few minutes drive from the Princeville Shopping Center with a Foodland market, hardware store, good restaurants, and Tiki Iniki, a great tiki bar. My friend and I enjoyed Tiki Iniki very much. The food was excellent and the cocktails well crafted. Some of the chairs and lamps were rescued from the famed Coco Palms. Across from Tiki Iniki is a small Chinese restaurant with delicious won ton soup. It was so convenient to stop in to the shopping center on the way back to the condo. The world famous Hanalei Bay and the St Regis hotel are just about five minutes down the road by car. The St Regis will valet your car for free, so it's very convenient and accessible from Sealodge to stop in at the St Regis for lunch. Don't miss sunset from the hotel's lanai, overlooking Hanalei Bay. Magical! Back at Sealodge, just a few steps downstairs from condo J9, a large grass common area with breathtaking ocean views. It's a wonderful spot to watch the sun come up. I can't wait to go back to Princeville, and I will definitely book J9 again! read more

DON'T STAY HERE!!! Upon checking in, my wife and I were discouraged on the condition of Sealodge and unit C8. We decided to book a room elsewhere and did not stay a single night at Sealodge. We requested a refund of our money but didn't receive even a partial refund. Conditions were dirty, the room was hot and musty (no A/C and windows/fan didn't help), there was ongoing construction everywhere, the stairs and deck had rotten wood that did not appear structurally sound, there was mold in the windows, rusted and missing lamp shades, broken handles on both the refrigerator and dryer, torn window screens that were attempting to be held together with blue painters tape, filthy window tracks, dirty walls, dirty curtains, carpet that was coming up, a stained/dirty tub/shower, and other issues as well. The conditions were definitely not what we were expecting when we reserved our unit. read more

We stayed in G4. We had an ocean front view. We never tried to get down to the beach, but I don't think it would have been possible considering the steep decline. But the view from being up a little higher is stunning. One morning we're out on the patio sipping coffee, and we can see whales and dolphins jumping! This place is located in Princeville. We didn't find a ton of great restaurants there, but there's definitely stuff to eat. Pop on down to Hanalei (10 minute drive) for some great unique shopping and eating. The room itself was great. We had a kitchen, dining area, cable tv and a nice bed. The view was great, I would definitely recommend the ocean view. The room also had some things such as seasoning for cooking, coolers, snorkels, and beach chairs. The nearest beach we found was Anini beach, which had great snorkeling and fishing. If I had to do it again, I would have stayed here for 7 days instead of moving to another vrbo. read more

The views are outstanding. From my bed next to the windows, I could look across the Pacific Ocean along the northern coastline of Kauai and see the lighthouse. It was spectacular. However, when it comes to Coastal accommodations, I have learned that you pay for a view, you pay for amenities, and if you want both, you pay twice as much. I honestly felt, though, that I had paid for both when booking Sealodge E6. It was $1,800 for 7 nights. Unfortunately, there were a number of drawbacks about this condo that prevent me from going much higher than 3.5 stars. Our condo had been recently renovated, so I cannot complain about decor. The bed I slept in though was harder than concrete floor. I seriously considered sleeping on the carpeted floor, convinced it would be softer. In stark contrast, the pillows on the bed were down/down alternative but had so little stuffing it was limp and offered no support whatsoever. I actually had to grab a couple of the decorative pillows off the living room couch to sleep on. If you're going to rent out accommodations, higher priority needs to be given to your guests sleeping conditions. After all, the majority of the time spent in the condo will be spent sleeping! The kitchen and dining room were a great size, easy to work in, and well-stocked. The deck/porch had cheap plastic chairs that were uncomfortable (notice a theme) to sit in for very long, so we only spent one evening out there. The sliding door leading out to the porch would not fully close. Although we called maintenance, the issue was not fixed during our stay. At night with the heavy rains we had to get up with towels and mop up the floor. We didn't want to be charged for ruining the floors! So to recap, we paid $240 a night to crawl out of our rock-hard beds at 1:30am to mop up a wet floor from a broken door. The washer and dryer were a great amenity that we made use of throughout our stay. A huge thanks for that. Another positive was our housekeeper who graciously allowed us to stay until 1:00pm on our check-out day since we didn't fly out until 8:00pm. Many thanks for that consideration. While it is true there is no a/c, the coastal winds and numerous fans that are provided make the temperature inside the condo pleasant enough. The two bathrooms are also a bonus. Another major drawback was the WiFi. No, you're not in Hawaii to surf the internet, you're here to surf the waves. However, at night, I expected to catch up on news, emails, streaming and specifically booked a location that offered WiFi. This internet was so incredibly slow, half the time it didn't work. Forget having more than one person on it at a time. Fortunately someone in a nearby condo had unsecured WiFi and I could link on to that. If it weren't for the super uncomfortable sleeping, the poor internet service, and the broken door, this would have been a solid 4 star. If you're management, I would encourage you to at the very least, replace the upstairs mattress and pillows. One last note to those who are first-timers to Kauai. These condos are located on the North shore. It is by far the prettiest of the coasts on the island. However, you are 45 min to an hour from where most food, shopping, and activities are. Make sure you factor this in to your planning. read more

This review is for C-8. Our family had a wonderful time in this quaint little unit overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Views are truly A+ from this unit...even waterfalls from the kitchen. Sealodge is so quite and peaceful, private. St. Regis is more up to date and nicer (and definitely more $$) but the view from the rooms are at par or even better, and definitely more private. The unit is fully furnished unit with all the amenities. Loved having to wake up and make coffee and drink it on the deck. Read a book by the day bed and have the wind blowing and sleeping to the sounds of the wind and the waves crashing. We also enjoyed flying a kite with our daughter and had her playing with the wild roosters. We had an issue with the washing machine, but they've since replaced it with a new one. It worked, but was just noisy.  We so look forward to returning! read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! I'm shocked by the good reviews for Sealodge. Biggest issue: No AC and with two fans running, the condo was a consistent 81 (at night at best) to 85 degrees, so we didn't sleep at all. Other issues: cockroaches, rusted/stained bathtub, used towels from previous guests left out. After 2 sleepless, sweaty nights and several dead cockroaches, we decided we couldn't handle it anymore and checked into a hotel. The real turning point was when I actually thought ON MY VACATION: "Okay, I only have to make it through 3 more nights here". Our total stay at Sealodge was supposed to be 5 nights. When I called Geri to ask if we could be refunded for the last two nights due to the unbearable conditions, she said no, they were keeping the whole 5 night fee - cockroaches should be expected and there were fans (again 2 fans on full blast 24/7 brought us to a toasty 81 degrees at BEST). If vacation to you means sweating all day and night, killing cockroaches, and trying to shower around the stained parts of the tub, this is your best bet! If you are looking for a relaxing, lovely experience, stay somewhere else! read more

This review is for unit D-8. As you're likely already aware from reading other reviews the quality of units vary insanely in quality. My wife did a crazy amount of research before booking this unit, and I didn't really pay much attention. Reading some of the other reviews here and at TripAdvisor a few days before arrival I started to wonder: were we going to get a musty-smelling awful place? Or an awesome updated place? My sweetie's research paid off, and we scored. D-8 was AWESOME. First thing's first: the outside of the units hover somewhere between "weathered" and "dilapidated". I wonder if the recent stormy weather blew some of the shingles off? Several buildings (including ours) were clearly having shingle work done. But outside looks can be deceiving, and the unit itself was amazing. Completely updated and impeccably clean. It was fully stocked too: cling wrap in the kitchen; washer/dryer in the unit; two pairs of binnoculars *and* a spotting scope; BluRay DVD player; lovely Hawaiian quilt on the bed; bug spray and sunblock; four beach chairs; beach towels; snorkel gear; wireless Internet; slack key guitar CDs. I'm sure I missed stuff too. The unit had everything. The other cool thing about D-8 was how it felt like you were in a treehouse. You're on the top of the building with no units sharing a wall with you. The building itself is perched on the edge of the cliff, so when you look out the bedroom window all you see is a bay, a coral reef, and the Kilauea Lighthouse in the distance. It is AMAZING to wake up to sunrise... by actually seeing sunrise from your bed. Without getting up. You can just lie there and watch the giant ball of fire come up over the water. Top notch. We'd totally stay in this unit again. read more

This review is for C5: C5 needs to provide TOILET PAPER! I was mid-cleanup when I discovered that there was no more toilet paper. A couple on a honeymoon should not be making an emergency trip to purchase toilet paper. The price of the TP should just be built into the rental amount. I am pretty shocked that we had to deal with this. I called up Patti (the property manager) and she assured me that she was "sorry", but that they didn't provide "paper product." At no point during the booking process was I made aware of the BYOTP requirement. The interior also needs a major facelift; besides the TV, it looks like it hasn't been updated since 1987. The bedsheets are all very worn and uncomfortable. The towels are thin and worn nearly to tatters. C5 has a nice view, though. read more

The condos VARY DRAMATICALLY IN QUALITY - MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING! This is a review for Hestera managed condos E2 and A8. We spent a lot of time researching these condos and based on the online photos and description we expected a nice, clean, and well appointed unit. We arrived (at E2) to find a mildewy odor to accompany the 1980's decor that had clearly not been updated in 20+ years. The carpet was stained, the couch and chairs were discolored and dirty, the dusty curtains were hanging off the rod, there was mold in the bathtub, and I could go on. Though the view was spectacular, we were extremely disappointed and felt we had been deceived. We contacted the management group (Hestera) by email to see if another unit would be available and received a prompt reply. Early the next day, we checked out A8 and found it to be nearly the polar opposite of E2. New furniture, tile floors, clean and modern amenities. Though it was a slightly more expensive unit, Hestera agreed to let us switch with no added cost. The woman (Geri Hestera) we dealt with was mildly rude and unapologetic. Had we arrived in A8 originally, we would have given the place a much higher rating but have trouble doing so given our initial experience. We got lucky - had another unit NOT been available, we would have been extremely unhappy and our vacation would have been somewhat ruined. From what we can tell, these condos all have different owners and are in VERY different conditions. The online photos and descriptions are not a reliable indicator - it would be worth asking specific questions about how recently things have been updated. On a positive note, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in A8. The views are spectacular and it is a pleasure to hear the constant crashing of the waves just outside our windows. The cost was very reasonable. There is a nice trail down to a secluded beach from Sealodge property and the north shore in general has been a great place to be because it is more lush and secluded. We were also able to make use of sleeping bags and a tent that were provided (from E2) for a backpacking trip up the Kalalau trail. We would come here again, but we would make sure we got this specific unit (A8) or something comparable if we did. read more

Our family stay was in F5 and for the most part it fit the needs. It was great to have the master on the main floor while the adult daughters had 2 twins up in the loft bedroom with their own bathroom. Our unit had lovely ocean views from the living room and both bedrooms and the kitchen had a nice greenbelt view as well. F5 is in need of a bit of sprucing up. New paint is high on the list and perhaps some curtains and rug cleaning. Other than that it was very functional. My only real complaint was with how the kitchen was stocked. I love to cook and if you have a kitchen at your disposal you want to save some money by cooking meals in your condo. It was difficult to do with a skillet that is only 9 inches wide for a family of 4. There were no cookie sheets and the only knives available were steak knives, a filet knife and a slicer. No chef knives to allow for chopping of any kind. Spend $70 and outfit a kitchen properly. The unit was a good value and overall worked well for this trip. read more

We stayed at Unit E2. First the good. Stunning views overlooking Anini Beach and the Pacific Ocean. That's about the only good. Sealodge are older condos that are showing their age. The cedar planks are beyond weathered and falling apart. There is no air conditioning in the units. When we arrived at Unit E2 we encountered several issues. The front door threshold plate was rotting and loose. We discovered the pots and pans had been used and left dirty with baked on old food. The bed pillows smelled musty and needed washed. The bathroom sink stopper was broken and stuck in the sink. The bathtub faucet would not shut off and ran constantly. There was a light fixture over the stove, but the bulb was missing. The living room lamp switch was stripped and couldn't be turned on or off. The patio sliding screen door kept falling off out of the track. We contacted the property managment company, Hestara, about these issues, but the repair person didn't show up for 10 days. In the mean time we discovered the smoke detector battery was dead and needed replaced. The repair person fixed the smoke detector and the bathroom sink stopper. You have many places to choose from, I would not recommend this unit. read more

This review is for unit E6. The condo has a nice open design with a queen bed adjacent to dining room and a loft that has 2 twins. It also has a pull out couch. The design works great for a couple but don't expect privacy if you have more than 2 people. The apt was well maintined and it was very clean. It includes washer/dryer, lots of towels, and beach toys. The kitchen is basic but included everything that you really need Awesome view of the lighthouse and sunrise in one direction and sunset in the other direction. It was nice and quiet. Another plus is that you can walk down to a small beach that is pretty much there for just the other condo people. On the minus side, there was supposed to be free wireless but the owner did not give us password. I tried to call him to get it but never got a call back. Also there is a pool bit owner did not give us access code so we could not get in. I wasnt that interested anyway because the pool has no shade and no umbrellas. There is an outdoor grill but it's charcoal only. I prefer gas because its less polluting and needs less prep time. Overall, had a nice stay and will probably be back, if not to this unit, at least to the Sealodge. read more

What a find. I did a ton of research when looking for places to stay in Kauai. We stayed in 3 in the end, the Sealodge condo for 5 nights, the Shearton in Poipu for 1 night and the Dilly Dally Bed and Breakfast in Kapaa for 2 nights. Sealodge was our favorite. We stayed in F9. The view couldn't have been better, and they had everything we needed. It was the perfect place to explore the North Shore from. Nothing fancy, but an incredible value for the price. It's totally private. We never used the pool, but it looked pretty nice. Sealodge Beach was a pleasant short hike away, but honestly, we could have sat on our porch all day and just stared at the waves and the palm trees. We whale watched from the porch every day. They had beach towels, beach chairs, snorkel equipment and boggie boards. So great to have a washer/dryer and a dishwasher. For a couple, this is a great place. I can't believe it's not more highly recommended. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to stay on the North Shore, and I'd definitely go back. Small issues that could be fixed: this unit didn't have wifi, but we were able to pick it up from other units that had open connections. Also the kitchen knives were very dull. read more

Seadlodge D8 ( note: every condo is different due to different management ) We stayed in this condo for 12 days and loved it. It had everything we needed: Washer & dryer, kitchenware, extra towels, snorkeling gears, hair dryer, wireless internet, cable TV and of course, an unbeatable view! D8 was located at the top of this condo building, with no common wall so there were lots of privacy. The lanai and windows were situated right in front of the windtrade and so the having no ac was fine, since the strong ocean breeze kept us cool every day and night! (seem like most of the condo was not facing this way, therefore may not have wind blowing in to keep them cool). The view was absolutely stunning! I loved it and from afar you can see the lighthouse. I also love where the sealodge condos were located (private end of the road). Small downside was that -the door (due to stong winds) rattled at night - sealodge beach was a VERY treacherous hike (only recommend to pretty fit individuals) To get to the beach you have to hike down a trail, go down large steps of boulder rocks, cross to your left along edges of a cliff (slippery!), and eventually do down more rocks to finally get down to a secluded beach full of rocks (not ideal for swimming). Needless to say I only went once. Other than those two small downsides, everything else in D8 was PERFECT. Clean, spacious, little condo with everythilng we could imagine. We cooked nearly every night which saved us tons of money, relaxing to watch cable with the breeze coming through the lanai, tons of stars to enjoy on the lanai at night, and the sunrises were spectacular. I will be back to this condo. It was more than I expected. It deserves no less than 5 stars in my book. read more

This review is for unit F4. As other commenters have noted, all of the units have different owners and are in vastly different condition. The website is not particularly helpful, as it makes all of the condos sound pretty similar. They are not. For example, we were happy with the upkeep of F4 (no odors, clean) but disappointed there was not scuba gear or camping gear in the unit, which other units offer. The decor was a little outdated, but for a budget unit my husband and I didn't really mind too much. I might stay at SeaLodge again, but I'd do more research into the units and would be willing to pay a little more for a unit with more modern accessories, a better view, etc. As far as the North Shore of Kauai goes: You have great access to the beaches and trails on the North Shore, but it's frustrating that you have to drive to any good restaurants or bars. My husband and I are young (late 20s) and were on our honeymoon. In retrospect we should have stayed in Kapaa so that we'd have similar access to the North Shore but would have had some sort of access to nightlife without having to drive 20-30 minutes back to the condo. read more

Great view can't complain about that, we stayed in c7- it wasn't the cleanest, dust everywhere, towels and laundry still in dryer to be put away, we wrote down everything that was wrong when we first got here but hadn't heard from anyone to let them know. Dryer vent looked like it hadn't been emptied in months i could of made a towel out of all the lint. (Huge fire concern) But honestly the view was the most amazing part and you had a nice clean pillow/bed to lay your head after a day of adventuring. This review is for G9 Sealodge is a hidden gem of a location with incredible views right on the cliffs of Princeville. The units are all individually owned and managed, so units vary a lot. This is the 2nd time my wife and I have stayed at Sealodge for a little getaway and first time in G9. We were blown away with this top level unit with the most amazing views and great privacy. The owners have just put in new washer and dryer, fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher. The place is really nice with a large flat screen TV mounted on the wall -- beached theme decor, comfortable bed, airy, and bright. The unit was stocked with bug spray, sun screen, games, beach chairs, snorkel gear -- it had everything! Some units are pretty hit and miss / try and book this one if you can. We stayed in Building A, our lanai fed out onto the lawn fringed with palm trees and the sound of the surf below. The condo was stocked with all the cooking needs we were used to. The trail down to the beach was an adventure. The reef came right up to the beach. We saw our first sea turtle there. Jeanie, the concierge, was most helpful. She loaned us a large glass cutting board when I couldn't find the cutting board. (I returned it when I found the one in the house. She booked us reservations on the Na Pali snorkeling and boat tour and gave us a lot of ideas on places to go. A long time island resident, she knows the best beaches for surf, the best farmer's markets, the best of everything. The bed was comfortable, the washer and dryer worked fine. There was even snorkeling and boogie boarding gear. read more

We checked into HESTARA's Unit B4 and immediately found some serious security issues. The sliding door to the back deck is installed backwards, so a thief could simply lift it off the track and come right on in! There are jalousie Windows right next to the front door. A thief once again could simply lift a window slat, reach inside and unlock the door! Come right on in again! Other issues immediately discovered were: 1. Air Conditioner blows hot air. 2. There's no cold water, yes no COLD water in the kitchen. Only piping hot water comes out. 3. The bathroom door doesn't close. 4. The tub has mold and rust (lots). We contacted HESTARA and were given the classic run around. "Oh, we understand. We'll speak with the owners. " Avoid dealing with these dishonest SlumLords. My wife is extremely upset and we feel we can leave nothing of value in this Unit. read more

We loved our stay at A1 Sealodge. We loved that we were able to walk out onto the beautiful grass bluff to watch the sunset and rise. The place had everything we needed: washer/dryer, full kitchen, separate bedroom, and a spectacular view. This unit was perfect for what our family needed. Everyday we left the unit after breakfast and came home after dinner. We were blessed to go to sleep hearing the ocean waves and having the ocean breeze. We made our reservations through Hestera. We stayed in C3, which is considered one of Hestara's premium condos. Usually I would rate such a condo 4 stars, but taking into account the $210/night rate and the "service", they deserve only 3 stars. Pros: Conveniently located near various north shore activities, great views. Cons: All the Sealodge condos look super dirty and old from the outside. Seriously not attractive, perhaps this is the reason they didn't post any photos of the unit from the outside? Inside, the condo is new and updated, except for the bathroom / shower and they obviously do not bother to mention it. Oh, it is also very very small. The condo was clean, but we left 1 empty glass in the sink for the night and it was covered with ants in the morning. You are out of luck if you try to contact the site manager, either by visiting the office or on the phone. There was no dishwasher soap so we tried to catch the site manager, but well, see the previous note so we emailed the sales agent and he suggested us to purchase dishwasher soap at the nearby Big Save... The bed is new and reasonably comfortable, but the frame is bigger than the mattress, so be careful with the corners. You will probably remember the corners, after one or two hits. Some of these cons may sound petty, but this is really not what you expect from a "premium" condo @ $210/night. We stayed at much better and cheaper places in Kauai. read more

We stayed in B9 and loved it!! It is on the second level but with only a few steps from the parking lot to the walk over. Yes, no AC and at first I thought it would be a problem but the owners have great fans in every room...even the bathroom!! I'm talking Lasko stand up fans that are wonderful. We are from Florida so we normally love our AC but I found that waking up to the birds chirping and a breeze was heavenly. The condo was spotless. I was very satisfied with the mattress, several great nights of sleep for the two weeks we were there. We have used the little cooler carrier several times that the owners left with water and snacks in it. The view is a partial ocean view but the condo is on the end near the trees and you feel so secluded that is was worth not having a full view. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!!!! First of all don't fall for generic reviews on yelp or here about sealodge. The quality of stay can be drastically different depending on which condo you choose. We chose F1 and here is our experience. 1. I strongly discourage this condo for families with children. The condo has cockroaches and not clean. There is a table fan with years of dust in it and I have kept a picture of the same with us as proof. 2. The condo looks very old and we felt totally fooled since the pictures of website looked great. 3. We took a 5 night stay and were give 1 sheet for the queen bed. No extra sheet. There is no extra bed or sheet if in case you want to change. We were family with 2 kids and ended up sleeping cold. 4. Not even an extra trash bag. 5. There is a kitchen, but plan to buy groceries including salt, pepper etc. you will find nothing in the kitchen. Not even a non stick pan to cook. There is a dish washer but no dish washing liquid. Interestingly there are yelp reviews in similar lines and hestera hasn't taken care of customer concerns. I think the apartment management is non-local folks who don't care about reputation. read more

Review for F7 - The condo could use a deep cleaning. We stayed for a week, and while it was not smelly or unlivable, we found dirty socks and half full water bottles and could use some updating. Despite the condo's condition the view is still pretty amazing. I will do my research next time if we come back. My parents stayed in H6 and the difference was night and day. I am actually writing this from the sealodge condo unit C-5. There are some pros and cons so if you are debating on staying here during the winter-ish season, this is your definitive guide to determine if you should stay here (at least in C-5). Don't be scared, you should just know why you may or may not like it here. PROs: 1) Great view of the ocean and coral area. Many colors of blue :) 2) A private little trail that goes to a hidden "beach", although you probably wouldn't want to hang out there and I don't think its deep enough to snorkel, and definetly no swimming because of the coral. 3) Condo is nicely furnished and very comfortable 4) TV with VCR/DVD player, basic sound system to play radio and CDs 5) Fully stocked kitchen making it very easy to starting cooking stuff 6) Close to a couple key stores, such as a grocery store/pharmacy, ice creme shop, gas station, Bank/ATM. By close, I mean two minute drive out of the princeville entrance. 7) Ample parking, and its free of course. 8) Porch with great view and wonderful for eating breakfast/lunch/dinner 9) All the best beaches are within 30 minutes or closer, hanalei for the win! CONS: 1) Condo has nothing obstructing it, and because it sits on a bluff, you get strong winds which make sitting on the porch a bit uncomfortable sometimes, and it can carry rain into the porch 2) The bedroom has a bed that seems to be a bit uncomfortable, especially for two people. I ended up sleeping on the coach which was more comfortable for me. 3) The bedroom has a 2 by 4 opening with adjustable wooden panels so a constant breeze comes in, which is not great when at night and makes the room cold. I got sick after a few nights. 4) No beach immediately nearby, but you can easily drive to one like anini or hanalei. General Information: 1) You will need a car to get around and explore 2) Limited dining options, and really expensive cost of living 3) Buy fruit from farmers market (google for times and cities) 4) Always take snacks since the north shore has limited eateries and most I found are not that great and overpriced read more

Review of unit F4 Just read a bad review on this unit. My wife and I stayed here recently, and couldn't have had a more different experience. We felt compelled to write a more balanced evaluation. Sealodge in general is a great collection of eclectic condos on the cliff top overlooking the ocean. The views are spectacular day and night. It's also quiet, being located on a dead end street. Unit F4 is on the first floor (NO stairs), next to the pool. We enjoyed the proximity, and swam there almost every day. If there were people at the pool, and we wanted privacy, we simply put down the blinds. However, there is a fairly tall wall around the pool, so it wasn't much of an issue. It was hot in the condo at times (weather was over 90 degrees), so we opened the windows, and used the floor and ceiling fans. That, with the fairly constant sea breeze, worked fine and kept us comfortable. The unit was clean and tidy. Some of the furniture was slightly worn, but nothing unexpected in a rental unit. Everything we needed was supplied, including beach chairs and towels, cooler and freezer packs, BBQ tools, and all the kitchen equipment we needed. Washer and dryer were in the unit. We only communicated with the owners via email, but they were prompt with their replies, and even gave us advice on restaurants and local beaches. We felt the price was very fair for what we got, especially in Hawaii. We would recommend this unit without hesitation. read more

Much darker and outdated than we expected. The sea lodge has great views but that's the only positive. We are sure J2 hasn't been updated in 25 years. Everything from the dishes, coffeemaker, television, bathroom, sheets, are old and of the cheapest quality. Couch pillows are greasy. Dishwasher barely works. Stove is old and only one burner worked. Bed was VERY uncomfortable and small. We both had a very hard time sleeping. You can hear people walking upstairs. Very little cooking supplies, no overhead oven fan, no fan in bathroom, musty smell throughout. Beach is far away and hard to get to. Sealodge E2 has stunning views! My husband and I were here for a special trip, and this unit was a great deal with an unbelievable oceanfront view. Every morning we would sit on the lanai and have coffee, while looking out at the rolling surf and the Kilauea lighthouse. The unit was well stocked, and the master bed was very comfortable. The plantation shutters and decor gave it an island feel, and the tile in the kitchen and bath appears new. We would recommend E2 to anyone! read more

We stayed in H6, which met our needs. We arrived to a dishwasher full of dirty dishes from the last vacationers. Running the dishwasher wasn't that difficult, but wasn't a great first impression. Our tv was old and small, we ended up watching things on our iPad instead... The best part about this unit is the view from the window by the bed- unbeatable with amazing sunrises. Location was convenient for activities on the north shore. We would stay here again in this unit, but we don't require a lot of amenities to be comfortable. read more

i stayed in e3 (hardy's happy hula hut) and it was perfect. right on the bluff, walking distance to the beach, quiet, breathtaking views, etc. as for the location, you can't beat it. you are a 10 minute drive from hanalei the town, 5 minutes from the st. regis and about 15 minutes from kilawea. go to the st. regis and use all of their ameneties for sure! they have a bar right on the beach, great snorkeling and the sunset is picturesque....definately returning to the north shore read more

My husband and I stayed 3 nights (Nov 30 - Dec 3rd) in F9. The condo we wanted was already booked. I was so disappointed to walk in and find stains on the carpet. I took a little dish detergent, mixed it with water and cleaned two of them. It's very disappointing to pay $95 for cleaning when the maid overlooks such an easy fix. She should have emptied the dishwasher before our arrival. I had a rental in Cabo San Lucas and if she worked for me, I would have replaced her for someone who cared about their job. A $150 memory foam would make that bed a lot more comfortable. Other than that, they place was beyond wonderful. I would go back, but would chose a different condo. read more

This is definitely a 3 star joint. We loved hanalei but Princeville is not for young 30 something city folk. Good for retired couples looking to golf and hang on the lanai. Not sure where I'd stay on Kauai next? Perhaps Kappaa? read more

Sealodge E2 is an excellent value, and the location is perfect. The views from this condo are stunning - unobstructed ocean front, with straight on views of Kilauea lighthouse and the coral reef. Watching the sunrise from the lanai is worth the stay alone. The condo is well-decorated, and had the necessary supplies. Granite counter tops and tile flooring in the kitchen and bathroom are a nice, modern touch, yet the condo still has a vintage Hawaiian feel. Highly recommend Sealodge E2. read more
