Took the Wednesday night Seadog Firework Cruise yesterday and it was amazing! Griffith was a super fun tour guide and Ebber and the Captain were awesome as well! Felt safe, learned some Chicago fun facts and saw some spectacular fireworks and skyline views! Highly recommend! Will be taking the same cruise again soon. Thank you for a great evening! read more

Went on may 26th. Ride was great but the tour guide was absolutely awful. Female named Dianna. Worst tour guide ever. Then when we got to stop and view the skyline she didnt really know about the buildings. Although she did know which was Trump tower. She had nothing but derogatory things to say about it and pointed it out of the skyline saying "That one right there is Trump tower. You can tell by all the black clouds around it because its all evil". I dont care who you're voting for, but I don't want to hear your uneducated political comments on a tour with my family. The ride was great as long as she wasnt talking! read more

(The 1-star is solely for the specific situation I'm about to describe; the actual boat tour was fantastic and deserves 5 stars.) I showed up 10 minutes before my departure time, as instructed, and I was told to get into a line that was roped off. As I was waiting there, I noticed other people boarding a boat, and I began to wonder if I was supposed to be on that boat as my departure time began to approach. I thought, oh maybe they got some VIP ticket that lets them get on the boat early or something, and continued to wait. But then they started to remove the platform onto that boat and loosening the ropes etc, so I got out of line and went to one of the employees, showed them my ticket, and asked if this boat that was leaving was the one I was supposed to be on. They said that it was, so then I asked the original guy who told me to get in line (he was also standing there) why he told me to get in the other line. His reply: "Wait, I thought you were with the other Asian people", referring to an Asian family standing in front of me in line. (I'm also Asian.) Never mind the fact that I did not speak one word with them, or make eye contact with them, or in any way associated with them - apparently, if you share the same skin color as others standing near you, then that means you're part of the same group, at least on the Sea Dog cruise. The actual ride itself was fantastic. But with employees like this, I'm never returning again. read more

My husband, 13 year old son and myself took the 30 minute lake cruise this morning. The boat was clean and well maintained. The crew, Philly Cheese, Guac and Captain Cat took great care of us and made for a memorable trip! We would highly recommend. read more

Both the architectural and EXTREME cruises are well-done. I recommend them for tourists and locals looking to try something new. The cruises are pricey, so wait for a deal to come along. read more

The Seadog Haunted River Tour was pure awfulness! I'm sure the regular tour is fabulous, but the Halloween version is crap. The tour guide was dressed in a black ninja costume pretending to be some ghost, which was what we expected - in the description of the tour. Everything was eerie and cool until he started talking. He told us how he was the cause of everything that had ever gone wrong in the history of the world. I'm not really a believer in ghost stories, but when EVERY SINGLE one ends with "because I cursed them" I can no longer even pretend. $30 per ticket was certainly TOO much to pay for this atrocity. The only part of the trip that was remotely enjoyable was the end where we got to cruise around the harbor blasting music. Otherwise, it was 75 minutes of "is it over yet?" "somebody please push me into the water and put me out of my misery." read more

This is a great way to learn more information about Chicago! My friends and I did the 75 minute tour. Two of us were from this area and two were visiting from out of state. We all learned something new from the tour and had a great time on it; the staff was very knowledgeable and amusing! read more

Awesome cruise! It was well worth the money! The guide was knowledgeable and super funny! I learned tons! Money very well spent! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about the city and its history! read more

We went on one of the special boat rides to see the fireworks, and it was so much fun. We had Keegan, Money and Jamie on our boat. They took us around the lake waiting for the fireworks to begin. We rocked out to some music. Just before the fireworks began Jamie, our captain, got us as close to the barge as possible. They were very nice and food all they could do to make the night fun. It was so worth the money. read more

My boyfriend and I went on the Extreme Seadog ride it was so much fun. The crew was awesome we got some facts on Chicago but to many to the point where you were bored. It was so much fun we will be going again. read more

My brothers (who are SO hard to please) and I decided to spend the day down at Navy Pier because we were getting sick of things to do in Chicago. We ended up being talked into going on this Speedboat Ride by this hilarious guy handing out brochures. We didn't think much of it and since it was so nice we just wanted to get out on the lake. Long story short, we ended up having THE TIME OF OUR LIVES. Being boat handlers ourselves, we got that there was the chance of us getting wet had we hit an oncoming wave wrong (which a lot of other patrons didn't understand-come on guys, youre on a huge open boat in the middle of Lake Michigan, duh you might get wet). Anyway - if you're up for something really different and an extremely fun experience i suggest Seadog. Way more fun than the annoying-put you to sleep architectural tours! read more

A must do if you visit the pier in Chicago! Take the EXTREME BOAT RIDE!!!! Fun staff fast moving and great music...

We just did this on our recent trip to Chicago. Total BLAST! The boat goes really fast, does spins, and gets you really wet. Our teenage daughter loved it too. Great family fun! read more

All seats, though the same price, are not equal! Do not sit on the right hand (facing forward, don't know my leeward & whatever) side of the boat. You will never see the skyline without a bunch of heads in your way. The opposite side of the boat was always on the skyline side while we were always "out to sea". Fireworks were great,. A bit too much open water, fast driving. 20 minutes of that & then wandering back & forth along shoreline would have been better. read more

The Extreme is SO much fun, especially on a hot day! The docents are knowledgeable and funny, I think they tend to be improvisers, and my family always has a blast. :) read more

The extreme 30min cruise was VERY WET & VERY FUN! When we called them on phone they gave us a discounted deal, very easy reservations and helpful with weather as well. read more

A friend gave us the hook up during our CHI-visit and used this excursion as a double date activity. The 75min architectural tour was both informative and entertaining. The speed boat activity at the end is where the fun's at! Prepare to get wet! read more

This was amazing. We did the extreme thrill ride. It was awesome ! So much fun I couldn't believe it. I felt like I was gonna fly out of my seat. Totally worth the 30 bucks! And Michael was the best your guide. Will definitely be doing this again !!!! read more

Lots of fun. Guide Dan was really good, knew his stuff and was funny. Good way to learn about the city history and architecture.

SEADOGGGGGG was so much fun! I sat in the very front, and felt every dip. My stomach dropped everytime we hit a wave. The wind was very strong so don't wear any sunglasses, hats, wigs, toupees, etc because they will blow off. This was a fun ride I would recommend for all people all ages all sizes all colors except pregnant women and handicapped. read more

I took my friend from out of town here last night and we had a relatively pleasant experience. The tour guide, (Fez?) was friendly and knowledgeable. I learned a few things about Chicago that I did not know, even though I have lived in the area for almost my entire life. We took an 8oclock lake cruise. The boat was large but went decently fast for its size. I think people were a little "disappointed", as they were expecting it to reach speeds of a small speed boat, but you have to keep in mind that this is a large passenger boat and will obviously go faster than most of the Navy Pier tour boats. I'm sure weather and other uncontrollable factors play into how "fast" the boats can go, but there's no doubt that size does not play one of those factors. The Seadog also played fun music. It seems like the younger set were having a great time. Overall a decent experience, but I wouldn't pay more than $17 a person for it. We paid nearly $26/pp and I felt that was a little steep for a half hour boat ride. Especially when you factor in their lengthy safety demonstration (We get it, smoking is dangerous and we can't stand up, you don't need to repeat yourselves a million times!), you are not on the water for a very long amount of time. Overall a pleasant experience, but not sure I would pay that price again for it. read more

First time in Chicago and I had heard to do a architectural cruise. So with time to spare while visiting the Navy Pier we decided to cruise with Seadog. The time slot we were hoping for was already sold out so we had to get the next cruise which was over an hour wait. We sat at a nearby restaurant and people watched and had a drink. Once aboard the seadog we had our host Grant. Although really nice he was definitely an amateur and his jokes if thats what you call them were very cheesy. A little disappointing to also know that the 75 minute tour consisted of at least 20 minutes sitting in the lock. I felt as though I saw more just by walking the streets. He only talked about the buildings themselves- I thought it would have been more appealing to throw in some other city fun facts. read more

The architectural tour is a must do in Chicago! Our guide was great. Very entertaining and informative. The only bummer about the tour was that it was too windy that day to go out to Lake Michigan to take advantage of the speed boat. Hopefully if you go with Seadog it will be a nice day. read more

I went on the 75 minute river and lake tour. It was informative, I just wish I remembered more of what the tour guide said. He was great though, don't get me wrong, I just don't remember his name. I paid about $35 online and I don't feel bad about it at all. I took a bunch of pictures and put them up on my Flickr account. Fair warning though- you will get wet on the way back when the speedboat is going top speed. read more

Trooper was very entertaining had a great time. Used a groupon without any issues.

Really nice experience. The weather was too great that I got burned.. I wish they can go even slower in the river and further, so we can see more buildings and take pictures. read more

The Chicago tour was great. The boarding process and staff were wonderful and we absolutely enjoyed our time. The tour of Chicago Harbour was nice, the ride of the boat was very smooth and beautiful. Chicago skyline from the lake in August it tough to beat. We then entered the Chicago River via the locks and had another lovely experience of seeing the buildings from the River. Our guide was great and overall it was 2 thumbs up and one paw up for the Seadog tour. Little note, they gave us 10% off for bringing our dog. She is a 12 lbs Jack Terrier mix and she was napping at our feet for most of the boat ride. Very Dog Friendly!!! read more

Perfect October day to take this cruise. Teela was a great tour guide. I learned so much, I'd definitely take this tour again. Thanks

Fun enjoyable speedboat ride. Not bad to do on a warm sunny day. Barking can be annoying.

We did the 75 minute Architectural Tour on a weekday evening. We had used Groupon for two tickets and then purchased a third one in advance when our daughter came to visit. The tour left on time, was a lot of fun, educational and safe. At first I thought the tour guide was a little "over the top" but he quickly grew on me and we all thoroughly enjoyed his "punny" humor and quirky manner. Chicago has so much history tied to it's architecture and fabulous buildings, everyone should learn more about it. read more

Great tour guy really makes this tour great. He was knowledgeable and has a sense of humor. It boated out on the river and lake. Which made this even better, we had a bogo coupon on the back of my ticket stub from going to the Sears tower. read more

Had so much on this tour today. We left on time, got back in time. Great views of the city and Lake Michigan is beautiful! The host at the end offers to go and down the aisles and take group photos, I thought this was great, but some people take it too far! Be nice this is complimentary! read more

The ride was nice, took the 30 min ride on the lake. It was almost 28 dollars. The thing that turned me off is at the end of it they pretty much were begging for tips.I am not cheap, and always tip 20% or more for my services. But come on people have a little class. It's a boat ride that we are paying 1 dollar a min for.And it's not like yr making 3 dollars a hour like servers in a restaurant , who live off there tips!! read more

This boat ride is a blast. They can really move thru the water at decent speeds at times. It may not be for everyone though. I have not tried the architectural cruise yet, but it does sound interesting. read more

Sadly to say this was my first time on a boat! But it was priceless! The tour guide was hilarious, even if I was the only one loudly laughing at him at times. He was the guy that looks like Zach Galifianakis. Anyway, he knew his buildings and history of Chicago, so the verbal part of the tour was just as interesting as the views. I also thought it was cute that they mentioned he writes his own tour guide ''speech''. [Okay maybe I had a little crush on him!] Anyway my friend and I bought the package for the tour and the speedboat so we listened to ''Zach'' talk for a few minutes then proceeded with the speedboat ride. It wasn't as long as I expected but the tour made up for it. You can get a lot of awesome pictures! On our way back to the Pier we were supposed to have another speedboat ride, but because we waited at the locks too long we didn't get another [which is the reason I took off a star]. I recommend this one for anyone! There is nothing boring about these tours, the guide is hilarious, the music is awesome, plus the guide offers to take a picture of you and whomever you're with. *thumbs up* It was an awesome experience! read more

I was skeptical of going on a boat tour but this was an awesome outing. Dan, our guide, was so knowledgeable and entertaining. Prior to the architectural tour itself, our group was taken on a 10 minute speed boat cruise zipping around the area, which was an absolute blast. Tip #1: If you don't like to get a little splash of water on you, don't sit near the side of the boat. The tour itself takes you through downtown Chicago on the river so you will see buildings all around the boat. There isn't a bad seat to be had. I normally get a bit sea sick but I was completely OK for this entire cruise. Tip #2: Take this tour near the beginning of your Chicago trip so that you have some background info on the buildings that you'll be encountering during your stay. read more

Great tour. Great experience. Really funny tour guide.

We toured Friday 8/14/2015 on the Architecture River Cruise and i would recommend to anyone visiting Chicago. Our docent Grace was the cat's pajamas, the bees knees, the fishes dishes, and the lizards lips all rolled in one. Just think about that for a sec, son. read more

Great tour with a great tour guide and crew. Shout out to the brilliant Mike, princess jamie and mo. Thanks guys.

I must say, at first I was very skeptical about this cruise line. When we first arrived to the boat an hour before our cruise, there wasn't any crew member or customer in sight. We walked around the pier and by the time we got back, the line was full and there were smiling faces on all crew members. We boarded the boat and found our seats. A few moments went by and we were greeted with the most enthusiastic member of the three, Maui. Captain red beard and co captain chopper were there as well doing a wonderful job. During the speed portion Maui was dancing to the music doing anything to put smiles on the customers faces, and he succeeded. He knew almost every building we passed, and an extent history lesson about each followed. Maui did an amazing job and I hope everyone gets to have an amazing experience just like I did. read more
