My 15 yr old gave it a 7/10. Doesn't want to go to SeaCamp II. Pros - Food was excellent - excursions were fun - learned a lot - made 13 new friends! Cons - Bathroom and Shower conditions were bad. Dirty and broken down. - one of the counselors was mean. - all the boys slept in one room which consisted of wall to wall bunk beds. - kid came back sleep deprived. He didn't want to talk for 24 hours. I'm finally getting the details. The biggest issue is the bathroom and the showers. Two weren't working. The Boy Scouts took the toilet paper. So there's a rivalry. They share certain areas of the camp. I think this camp is very good for the price. Good for what it was. read more

This experience increased his passion for Marine Biology and I applaud the instructors for their personalized support in learning about ocean ecology. I can't believe there aren't more reviews for this place! My son just recently returned home from SEACAMP1, a summer weeklong overnight camp of 6 days 5 nights catered to incoming 7-12th graders. Marine Science/Biology based camp that integrates a love of Marine Science and the use of water activities to tie it all in. All of the Sea Camp instructors have a Marine Science background and are very knowledgeable in their field. They make sure that your child is well taken care of throughout their experience here. Prior to signing him up, I contacted the Sea Camp staff via Facebook. My concern was that my son was not a good swimmer. Guess what? For SeaCamp1, your child doesn't need to be a good swimmer to experience what this Camp has to offer. They got it all covered from the choice of their swim gear, the staff supervision, and the importance of water safety taught to all the campers is what sealed it for me. Its also good to know that you can follow them on Social Media (FB and IG) when your child is at camp as they continually post photos along the way. You bet I was one of those Moms! I paid $895 for this camp experience for my son. Absolutely worth every penny and definitely very reasonable for what Sea Camp had to offer for all their campers. You'd be surprised to know that a good portion of these Campers are NOT locals. In my son's group, he was able to forge friendships from kids his own age who were driven from out of town and flown in from out of state and to this day, keep in touch. That just tells me the strong reputation Sea Camp has as a company. The staff here was very welcoming, answered all my questions, and made this camp very memorable for my son. If I had known about this camp sooner, I would've signed him up years ago. I highly recommend Sea Camp! read more

We just had a week's hand-on and amazing experience with SEACAMP on Fiesta Island in the Mission Bay, San Diego area. This was exactly the experience that my 11-year-old who has learning differences needs. The program design was great - we love that they only focused on two things each day - a marine science topic and a Watersport. All the staff were educated in marine biology/science and were great with the kids. We will definitely consider returning and highly recommend this to any family that seeks in-person, hands-on ways to learn about the magic of the ocean. read more

This camp is a home run! My 13-year-old son just did the weeklong SeaCamp 1 and loved it. He loves all things related to marine studies and spends a lot of his own time learning about marine science. This camp really appealed to him. It had the right balance of marine science focused labs and activities along with fun. He was pumped about the kayaking, paddle boarding, and boogie boarding. He made great connections with the other kids and he also really like all the counselors. As a parent, I felt well-informed ahead of time and confident dropping my son off for the week. I recommend this place! For kids who have lost so many of these types of activities in recent years due to Covid, it was was great to see the kids happy and engaged at pick up! My son attended SEACAMP Jr (5th and 6th graders) 5-day summer camp last week. We were hesitant to sign him up because the camp is pretty expensive however it is the only camp he wanted to attend this summer so we decided to try it. First, I'd like to note that this is a true "full day" camp. You can drop off at 8am and pickup at 4pm so a full 8 hours of camp (I've seen other "full day" camps be as short as 5 hours!) The camp is very well run and each day is planned out (not a lot of "open time" where they don't do anything). Every day there is a learning activity and a fun activity. Fun activities included 2 days of snorkeling (one in the bay and one in the ocean), boogie boarding, an outing on a boat, and kayaking. The kids also had a learning session every day and some days had labs (they dissected a squid during lab time one day, for example). My son learned a lot of interesting information about sea life (and a lot of things I didn't know). He has been to other camps where the counselors were still basically kids themselves and had no control of the kids. It sounded like these counselors had it all under control. My son already said he definitely wants to go back next year. I feel like we got our money's worth so he will be back! read more

Our elementary school (O'Roarke Elementary School) was scheduled to attend Sea Camp in March 2020 and each child prepaid $520. The trip was canceled due to the Covid-19/Corona Virus and SeaCamp refused to refund any of our money. Shame on SeaCamp. We came across this camp a few months ago by chance online. Right off the bat the big thing was the cost...it was very pricy! BUT our son who is also our middle child doesn't do crazy expensive sports like his siblings and so we were willing to pay more for a camp. I did research and looked at pictures and the itinerary and I was blown away by how exciting it looked. I loved that they offered 4 different camps but that you had to attend sea camp 1 before doing 2... for a mom, this means that they won't be repeating things over and over to catch other kids up. It just advances. I was a little worried that this was listed as an academic camp. Not that he wouldn't absolutely love it and learn and participate but because with a small processing delay I was worried the camp would be filled with future Ivy League type kids. I should not have been worried. While I was there, the boys nearby were kind fun kids and it was obvious they all had a great time. We chose to let him attend 2 sessions in a row. (No discount) but not a deal breaker. I will update this later as he is heading into the second session so I will have more to review later. They have small groups and they get smaller the further in to the program. Sea camp 1 I think has 52 kids but sea camp 2 drops to 25 I think so lots of one on one. My husband dropped him off so I got no details as I was at college orientation with another kiddo out of state. They have a 1 day break between sessions where they take the kids to the laundromat to do laundry and the store for anything they want to buy and then they feed them in town as well. I asked if I could visit for an hour or two between sessions and they were so accommodating. He took his sister into the touch aquarium and showed her all the creatures they could handle. The other campers and my son were so loving and careful and knew the animals names and how to pick them up and had facts they learned about them. I took him to lunch and he told me as much as he could in the time I had him. When we got back one of the staffers took me and my daughter on a tour of the facilities and the classroom (not something she had to do, it was amazing of her though). I was completely in awe at the things I saw. My kid is freaking lucky to be there, it was amazing! They post pictures almost every night on their social media so parents can see what their kids are doing and they provided a disk so we could see all the pictures. The camp was fun however instead of open ocean snorkeling we went in a bay in 7mm thick wetsuits that don't let you sink so you couldn't dive if you wanted to because you need a wight belt witch they refuse to give you the water was murky and you only saw a few fish while snorkeling and they where small we only went to a small jetty and back nothing else the only cool thing we saw was when the instructor got it don't take your kids not worth it wast of 50$ for the day trip if you go longer you are bound to have more fun just dont go for a single day alone read more
