What a cute place with great food and great service! Try loaded Bloody Mary!!! Went here for a brunch and it didn't disappoint. Chelsea, our server, was so easy going, funny and nice. She made sure to check back on us through the visit and it just felt good. When you sit down they bring you a little bowl of crunchy savory mix, and hot wet towel which I thought was a great touch. For the meal I went for biscuit benedict which was great, eggs were cooked on point, something I always pay attention to when I order eggs benedict. But let me tell you about their loaded Bloody Mary! If you're a Bloody Mary lover you MUST get it! It's a drink and an appetizer in itself, when they say it's loaded them mean LOADED. Comes with: two long candied bacon strips, a skewer with fried green tomato and large fried tempura shrimp, a skewer with cherry tomato, pepper, olive and pickled okra, a lemon and lime wedge and finally lime salt rim. All this monstrosity looks very appetizing and very instagram-worthy. Oh and did I say it's the house made bloody mix? It's pretty good! Not overly spicy which I loved. The bacon is crunchy and sweet, the olive and pickled okra is obviously salty and yummy, both green tomato and shrimp and hot and tasty, it's just an all around uuuhhh, fun drink to eat? Can I say that? Lol! Next time I'm here (and there will be next time for sure) I'll order this before I order a glass of water, it was that good! read more

Scratch Kitchen!! Where have you been all of my life! Wow! Decided to invite some friends along to check you out for the first time. Walking in I felt welcomed at and hoke. Scratch has a very laid back, modern, and homey feel to it with blue and white being the main colors throughout the restaurant lined with tables, comfy booths, and chairs for days. The restaurant was filled up when we came in and had about a 30 minute wait. They send you a text to keep you informed of We were finally sat and had the nicest waitress. She was very informative and kind! To start we got the pimento wontons. They were lightly breaded and fried and were a good size that I still had enough room to eat my meal. The Our waitress was also very patient especially when I could not decide if I wanted the cheesy grits or not! I ended up finally ordering them along with the Sriracha shrimp Caesar salad. My companions got the most amazing sandwiches I may have ever seen! The chicken was fried to perfection and looked super crispy and juicy! My friends fried Mac and cheese sandwich also looked super juicy and yummy as the cheese pulled and pulled and wow, no words for how great this and everything looked. The icing on the cake was when the manager came over and checked on us twice. She really wanted to make sure we were doing well and she was so nice! BLUF: I got their Korean Benedict, probably best stick to the typical American fare and away from their fusion attempts. They have a few Asian inspired dishes on the menu: the Korean Benedict I ordered, Bibimbap Bowl, Pad Thai, to mention a few. I thought why not, try out their take on a Korean Benedict. 1. Two (2) unseasoned, 2 to 3 inch, slices of pork belly. It was not even marinated to even imitate how it would've been at a KBBQ. A piece of pork just slapped on the flattop and cooked. 2. Over easy eggs? Was poaching not in the kitchen's wheelhouse? 3. Wow, served on a split cornbread muffin instead of an English muffin? Real creativity there, hope no one hurt themselves. Why a cornbread muffin anyways? 4. A sad spread of mildly spicy sauce thinly spread on the muffin. This was the only element of the dish that had any flavor. Which I would hope that at the very least their SAUCE had flavor. 5. Small dish of lukewarm, mushy potatoes. The salad looked good and their Scratch Philly looked good. I'll reiterate, stick to the American fare. Their sad attempt at a "Korean inspired dish" had no inspiration. It was someone who's never eaten ethnic foods and thought adding those to the menu would make it pop. read more

I found this gem on Yelp when I came to town for a conference. And boy am I glad I did. There was a brief wait upon arrival. The staff were all so kind and accommodating. Gluten free? No problem. Alcohol free? Also no problem. Booth for one? No problem. I ordered a bartender's choice mocktail and it was perfect. Juicy and refreshing and garnished with a cute little flower. The menu looked amazing but I eventually settled on the pork chop. I love a perfectly cooked chop and this one did not disappoint. Chew the meat off the bone kind of perfect. So too we're the greens and parsnips. The greens has a little bit of spice to them which made them all the more better. The chutney? More please. I would probably eat here a LOT if I lived nearby.... Wow, what a great find in Cary, NC! I was visiting a friend in Raleigh and we were checking out Cary, and found this spot on Yelp. Scratch Kitchen is a southern/asian fusion restaurant that is all about southern comfort type foods made from scratch and fresh ingredients. Their menu was very interesting and was what initially caught my eye on yelp. They have appetizers such as BBQ Pork Egg Rolls (PLEASE order these), pork belly bites, firecracker shrimp, and spicy tuna round. The BBQ egg rolls were a delicious combination of bbq pulled pork with slaw and a sriracha aioli. You won't be disappointed. For food entrees, there is a wide variety of burgers, salads, bowls (buddha bowl, bibimbap bowl). Everything looked delicious and it was hard to decide, but I ordered the seafood pad thai. To be honest, I'm not usually a big pad thai girl, but Scratch's version of it really blew me away. The flavors were bold but not overpowering, it was sweet yet still savory, and there was a generous amount of seafood (scallops!) hidden in the dish. Definitely the highlight of my meal. Went here for date night after a show at the Cary Theater. We ordered the Pork Belly Bites, Scratch Fries as appetizers. The portions are huge! Both are delicious! If I had to choose a fave it would be the Pork Belly Bites. For our main courses we ordered the Cast Iron chicken and the Scratch BLT. Mouth watering. Both of them. The BLT is the perfect sandwich. Perfectly toasted Sourdough, tangy green tomatoes and the candied bacon. Forget about it. Get this sandwich. For dessert we had the crème brûlée. To die for. Come here. Asap. I greatly enjoyed this place. It was recommended by a friend and when we pulled up we were unimpressed initially by the nondescript exterior. The inside is very cool and relaxing. My only knock on this place is that our server was very average. That said, numerous support staff were very attentive to our table. I came here for lunch with my wife who works in the area. The do attract quite the lunch crowd, so we were excited to try them out. We were quickly seated in a small booth and my wife noticed some food on her cushion and the hostess was quick to remove and apologize. No biggie! We ordered our entrees next and I got the cast iron chicken while my wife got the Apex burger. The entrees came out in a reasonable timeframe. I must say that the cast iron chicken was presented masterfully. It tasted as good as it looked as well. My wife's Apex burger? Well, it wasn't anything special at all. The presentation was awful and the burger did NOT look appetizing at all. They cook burgers to order and my wife requested medium. She got something like medium well with Zero pink in the middle. The bun was also nothing special. I don't think they have ever heard of brioche at all. All in all, my meal was delish, but I have to take stars away for the burger not looking restaurant quality and being grossly overcooked. read more

My biggest complaint however was seating. I understand that everyone is understaffed right now so I understand why we had to wait to sit our larger party despite there being at least 3 open tables at any given time (including an 8 person table). However we were 6 adults stuffed into a booth pretty uncomfortably, (it was difficult to cut our food) while there was an 8 person round table open from the moment we arrived until the moment we walked out 6-8pm. This was hands down the most frustrating part due to how truly cramped and uncomfortable it was sitting in that booth, and it didn't have to be that way with the table wide open the whole time. Additionally, there was a group of people who arrived just after us who were still sitting outside waiting for their table when we left, two hours later. The appetizers were good, our table ordered several and the pork belly bites and the platter of fries with bbq meat were hits. Fried green tomatoes were decent, and the shrimp, while very generous portions, did not have much flavor. Dinner entrees left something to be desired. Our table had a burger (good), bimimbop bowl (not good, rice was caked together, not in a good way, and spinach was wilted), shrimp Caesar salad, lobster Mac and cheese (good), and bbq pork bowl (didn't care for the peas or general flavor combo). Service was okay. Our waitress was average. Friendly but not very present. We had drinks while waiting which were good but not very strong. At dinner I ordered a dirty martini and it was excellent. 5/5 for the dirty martini. I likely won't return, unless I'm coming just for drinks and appetizers and sitting at the bar. read more

I've never seen so many aimlessly wandering employees in a restaurant. Went in on Sunday with my wife and daughter and got seated at a table where it felt like every teenage employee they have on staff walked by us without as much as acknowledging us, some holding brooms or empty dishes like props in a high school play. No one looked our way or even asked if we had our order taken, they all seemed to be too busy shuffling around doing nothing. After about 30 mins, my wife went to the hostess stand and asked for some kind of service. After the manager came over to our table for our waters and our drink order, it seemed like they were done with us. Another party came in, was seated, and had their drinks and apps. We sat sipping waters and continued to be ignored. You would think that after we mentioned we hadn't had our orders taken, the manager would have made our table a priority, but I guess slacking isn't relegated to just the wait staff. Everything needed a bit more of something. The coleslaw was pretty dry. Sesame shrimp came with a lot of risotto which had edamame and raw onion. The bibimbap could have used a higher quality meat. Everything was pretty basic which is why the 3/5 rating. Some of the best features was the ambiance, fresh cut French fries, and great service. The kids got some play dough to entertain themselves. Just visited this location - was super excited to try it... food was ok. Not as good as the menu made it sound. My daughter's burger was so-so. My salad was nothing remarkable- Harvest salad with steak - the fries were lukewarm. The biggest issue was the water temp in the bathroom. My 4 yo granddaughter was washing her hands - water not even turned to hot and she got scalded. The water is dangerously hot! Manager was pretty casual about it -said he'd look into it - did not follow back up with us either. I had to readdress the situation as we left. NOT worth the $280 bill! read more

Stopped by during the TST 7x7 for some lunch. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Low key and relaxed atmosphere, which was exactly what I needed! In the mood for a sandwich and ordered their take on a Philly Steak sandwich. It was delicious with tender thin slices of ribeye steak along with onion and bell peppers sautéed with just the perfect crunch. A generous (but not too much) delicious cheese sauce topped the main mixture which was all on a hoagie roll. I ate it as an open face sandwich and put the other roll half in my takeaway box that also held the tasty Brussel sprouts that I ordered for my side dish (they were worth the extra charge!). I ate at the full food service bar and the service was outstanding. I also must mention the perfect tasting ice tea that was so very satisfying and refreshing.!!! I noticed a wide variety of adult beverages available on the bar shelves and their menu has an extensive selection all of types and brands. They also have quite the variety of dishes and I would love to come here again for dinner (especially sometime when I'm not the driver). BTW, did I mention the ice tea?!?!? ;-) read more

I have eaten here a handful of times now and every time my experience has been nearly perfect. The pork belly bites with brussels and the spicy tuna sushi round are my favorite apps that I've tried here. For a salad, the smoked tomato spinach salad is up there with one of the best. The smoked tomatoes truly steal the show. I am mildly obsessed with them. My only dining experience here that wasn't perfect involved these tomatoes lol. I had asked for them on a different salad of theirs (they are THAT good) and they didn't come. So I asked for them again - was told they were working on smoking them (they didn't have any ready). So I waited and waited. They came out when I was nearly done, but I didn't care because I would eat them by themselves. However - they were not smoked at all. I truly believe this was a one-off error and it hasn't stopped me from ordering again. The mac and cheese and burgers here that I've tried are also very good! read more

I went to the Cary location and I will be back! I loved the food and the service matched. They come out with towels that they pour hot lemon water over to clean your hands before your meal. I loved the bao bun appetizer and the lobster mac and cheese was delicious! Brunch. Food and coffee was sub-par. Coffee was undrinkably weak. We requested a replacement carafe after explaining our concern on the first and the second came out even more diluted. Didn't drink it. Food was bland and did not match the menu descriptions across all our orders. Ie: pork skillet with butternut squash had no squash - just regular potatoes. The spicy chicken on a cheddar biscuit was not spicy and came without cheddar in the biscuit. Everything needed salt, but had to request salt for the table as no table comes stocked with seasoning. Walked in and greeted their hosts and a skinny white girl that was at the podium gave me a dirty look down and up.. kinda awkward. The other lady was nice and greeted me. I told her I wanted a bar seat and she told me I could take any seat I'd like. The bartender was a young dude and he was super busy. Took him forever to acknowledge us that came in and sat at the bar. Usually bar seats get quicker service but not in this case. Brought me my first glass of water once I was ready to check out. Never once came to check on me, but was nice to me when it came time to sign my check. I'm not from around here. Actually visiting from Cali. Probably not the best place to eat/chill in Cary, NC.
