The reply to my email came with an erratic lecture instead of an apology and an accusation that i lied about his office not returning phone calls. When i threatened to contact the BBB and write a review online, he wrote that he was terminating pur agreement and said that if i contacted his office again he was going to call the local law enforcement and the IRS on me! During our phone interview Jay sounded great and especially loved the fact he was crypto literate. It was downhill from there. Here are the negatives..... 1, He kept accusing us og not knowing hot to properly do bookkeeping and asking us to turn over our bookkeeping to him - for a fee of course. We have never had any CPA complain about our bookkeeping and we have been doing it for 19 years. 2. He failed to depreciate our buildings at our business thereby causing me to end up owing the IRS an additional 15k in taxes that I should have never paid. Our new CPA caught this and filed an amended return to correct the mess Jay created. 3. He never filed the franchise tax report with the TX Comptroller's office and never bothered to mention that he did not file it. This caused us to get a notice from the state putting us out of business until we remedy this by filing our report. Again our new CPA is handling it. 4. Jay is constantly trying to upsell services as add ons that other CPA firms include in their tax preparation service. Also when something goes wrong it is always the clients issue never his responsibility. Stay away. This was the worst accounting experience ever.

I'm sorry but if I pay the bigger one off right now I can go anywhere but with you! I'm trying to get back on my feet and for a credit union member already that is disappointing. Mind you it's bad enough you don't even have ATMS but in the area you are in you would think you would help the ppl in the area. I almost closed my account right then and there, but they assured me that was ONLY for new accounts and wouldn't be a problem once the account was established. Flash forward almost 3 years and over 30 direct deposits later. No overdrafts. No issues AT ALL, and a check I deposited is being held for 10 business days. Since it releases on a Saturday, it's being held an additional 2 days until Monday. So, 15 days total. Who in this day and age still does that? Now I have to go through the motions of calling the branch manager to ask for them to pretty please let me have access to my money so I can pay my bills. Absolutely ridiculous! If they don't release my money today (day 5) then I'll be closing my account as soon as the money is released and banking elsewhere. If they do, this 2 star is still staying up because everyone needs to know going in that the "we only hold checks for 10days on new accounts" is a lie. Do better Texas "people" Take care of the people that bank with you.

There is a bunch of construction outside his office, but this is obviously out of his hands. I have been doing mine and my wife's taxes for several years now with software programs without any difficulty. This year after clicking through the prompts, I was informed that I would owe a considerable amount in additional taxes, which frankly seemed incorrect, as we even withheld additional money over the last year. Late in March, I shot Bob (and several other local CPAs) with several questions. He responded quickly, and answered all my questions. We had an appointment, and I really liked his professional office and the 1-on-1 environment. This is not a Tax Preparer that does your taxes in a booth at Walmart, or with a roomful sitting nearby. Bob is a CPA that has been preparing returns for many years, and this was very obvious. Our return was ready within 7 days, and thankfully he was able to untangle the mess, finding a sizable return! We will be returning to Mr Hampton again for many years to come, and I highly recommend using his services.
