My vacation back home to visit family turned incredibly stressful when Scotiabank intercepted my e-transfer after the security question was correctly answered. I ended up spending multiple hours for multiple days on the phone with several customer service reps trying to resolve the isshe. At one point I was told that it was Interac that intercepted the transaction so I personally called Interact. They don't "hold" transactions "ever" I was told. The whole experience was gut wrenching and total chaos! It was still unresolved when I arrived back home so I went down to the Cochrane branch to speak with someone face to face. Thank you Febe! if I could give a negative star I would. Unfortunately, this is my local branch in Cochrane. Luckily, I only have to go in every couple years but every time I do, the service is atrocious. The tellers barely say please and thank you. I feel like I'm inconveniencing them every time I go in- I was in there today because when I phoned in, I was advised to go to the branch and it was just a terrible experience. It's the height of the pandemic (Jan 2021) as I write this. My wife and I had to go to our local Scotiabank in Cochrane for a mortgage transaction that could only be done in person. Of course we were wearing our masks as were all customers and staff. All except one that is. Part way through typing my PIN I noticed our teller was not wearing a mask. There was a dangling plexiglass screen but no other protection. If she feels she has a medical condition and can't wear a mask, Scotia should find a back room for her or allow her to work from home. Seriously not impressed that Scotia would allow an unmasked worker in a front line position where she could spread a serious and potentially fatal virus in her community. Disgusted. read more

The bank is under construction, no flooring, open ceiling, carpet in some sections is rolling up on the edges held down by bricks or other heavy objects, etc. A new visit 2 weeks later, same situation. Except closed and Workman inside, but they have hardly advanced. This is why it is basic in Retail: build your store, THEN OPEN. If the bank is open, then they cannot do construction, they cannot advance. Secondly, the teller situation is ridiculous as the other Reviewer stayed. Thirdly, Monday closed (supposedly closed for Remembrance Day, which was a few days prior, not sure if other banks did this). BANKING ATM WAS NOT WORKING, therefore the people who did not know the bank was closed for an already celebrated Holiday, also could not bank with their ATM Cards. My 75 yr old mother will return another day and wait the necessary 15-20 minutes in line, which is customary in this branch. Such a difference from Scotiabank Airdrie, which is 5 Star. read more
