I wanted to learn how to cook better at home and was googling cooking schools when I came across this one at St Morris. It's no where near where I live but I liked the sound of it. I signed up for the hump day class on Wednesday nights at 7pm. I learnt how to cook Thai food with chef Souk. There were about 10 of us, some couples and some on their own.
We were paired up in groups of two, and shown how to make satay skewers with a delicious peanut sauce, paw paw salad, and pad thai. It's also hands on so we were chopping, cutting, and frying our own ingredients to make our dinner. Souk was quite entertaining and helpful in showing us what to do. They rotate their chefs each time. They offer plenty of other styles of cooking like desserts, Vietnamese, and even raw foods.
The food we made was so yummy, I could have eaten it again and again. We got recipes to take home as well as extra advice. I learnt how to do the one-handed egg crack and smash garlic on the back of a knife :) Sounds dangerous I know.
The classes start from $65 and go for 2 plus hours. We went a bit overtime but that didn't bother me.
I'd love to come back and try doing desserts :) Good fun. read more
