I commend driver #463. He always helps me with my walker when I board the #66 bus @ the 38th & Portola stop.

The Highway 17 Express bus is a fantastic way to get over the hill. I rode it on a Thursday morning…read moreto Santa Cruz from the San Jose Diridon station and it took about 45 minutes. The cost was $7 for one way, which seems like a fair price. The bus was very clean and on time for the departure and arrival. I was so relaxed that I fell asleep. There were about 6 people on board. They do have a bike rack in the front which one guy used and seemed to load it up quickly. I bought my ticket ahead of time on the app and scanned it as I boarded. A few people paid with cash. I took the bus back on a Sunday morning from Santa Cruz to San Jose and had a similar and positive experience.

I've been on several times where people are drinking and have alcohol on the bus and they don't kick anybody off. I was told to get off in an unprofessional rude manner because I was clipping my nails which I shouldn't have been doing. The bus driver tells me I have no right to speak and rudely tried kicking me off the bus because I didn't like the way he spoke to me about it. Their attitude and professionalism needs to change and I feel they speak to me differently because of how I look. Most of the time they let you just get on without paying so they can't be picking and choosing what they want to do in my opinion. Respectfully saying.

I also don't plan on being there all day so I don't want to wait in line for an hour to get a spot in the expensive new parking lot. What's a dad to do. I drop my wife and kid and head downtown to get some coffee at the Santa Cruz coffee roasting company. Got rock star parking on Pacific Garden Avenue and grabbed a cup of coffee, stuff enough coin in the parking meter them jump on the trolly. So I get parking, coffee and a low stress ride to the beach. It's got great music and air conditioning. Happy father's day, I win. The family got to have a bit of fun (waiting in line without me) before I get there and I get to relax instead of looking and waiting for parking. And did I mention the AC.

If you are going to the Boardwalk your first ride of the day should be on the Trolley! The parking…read moresituation at the Boardwalk is a bad joke with overpriced parking and narrow congested streets. There is plenty of parking downtown and mostly free on Sundays. The Trolley runs daily from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. After having lunch downtown (much better options than the Boardwalk), I boarded the trolley at the Del Mar Theatre stop. You must have exact change (just 25 cents per ride). Why so cheap? The Trolley is run by the Santa Cruz Trolley Consortium, Inc. a 501(c)4 non-profit organization. It's a short and pleasant ride down to the beach then just a hop skip and a jump to the Boardwalk fun.
